Before we start our lesson, lest us remember that we are in the holiest presence of God.
Before you take your seat, pick up any trash in front and back of your seat, if you are done please take your seat
Are there any absentees for today class secretary? Have you check the attendance?
Thank you, class secretary, all of you did a great job today! Give yourself a round of applause.
Before we move to our next discussion, let’s us first have a short review of our topic last meeting. Who can still
remember our lesson? Is it all about what?
Very good! Now that you already know about the graphic organizers and its uses, let’s move to our new lesson.
Rule no.1
Rule no.2
Rule no. 3
Rule no.4
now, let’s have a group activity. Arranging the puzzles. I will group you into four. Row one will be group 1, row two
will be group 2 , row three will be group 3, and row four will be group 4. Each group will arrange this puzzle and
whoever finishes first will get the prize.
I will give you 2 minutes to finish arranging the puzzle. Is that clear class?
Very good! All of you did a great job arranging the puzzle. What can you say about the picture in the puzzle you
arranged?
The puzzle you arranged is connected to our topic today. Our topic for today is all about tone, mood and purpose.
Today we will identify the tone, mood and purpose, and write the tone, mood and purpose of the character and
respect one’s feelings.
I will let you watch the story about the lion and the mouse. But before that let us read the guide questions that you
need to answer after watching the story.
As you watch the video, I expected everybody to keep quiet so you can understand what you are watching.
Characters play a big role in an event or a story. They are the actors in the story that portray roles and assume
different traits. When we talk of characters, we often describe them in terms of character traits, descriptive
adjectives that tell specific qualities. Authors give character traits and feelings to make the character seem real.
These traits or characteristics make every character interesting.
Please read.
Tone - the attitude that a character or narrator or author takes towards a given subject.
Please read.
Mood - the emotional atmosphere within the story produced by the author's use of language.
Please read.
Purpose - reason for or intent in writing. An author's purpose may be to amuse the reader, to persuade the
reader, to inform the reader, or to satirize a condition. An author writes with one of four general purposes in
mind. To relate a story or to recount events.
There are 3 types of purpose
1. To Inform
- To give information about a subject, like
encyclopedias, and magazines
2. To entertain
- To amuse or delight, like fairytales and
comics.
3. To persuade
- To convince the reader, like an editorial.
To test your understanding of our lesson,
Let’s have a quick check to know if you were able to understand everything.
Let’s have a game, I will group you into four and I need a participant in each group. I will call the group
whose first to raise a hand.
Let’s see if you can apply these new skills you gained in the text that I will post.
Let’s now give a summary of everything you learned. Complete the graphic organizer with the missing words. Choose
your answer from the given choices.
It is very important to infer the speaker’s tone, mood; and purpose because it will help us reader or listener to
understand what they want to emphasize and what is the message they want to convey.
It seems you really learned a lot from our discussion today. With that, let us answer the assessment.
Lets check.
