Good evening class before anything else please stand and lets have our prayer first. Amen.

Before we jump in to our lesson today, let’s have a short recap about our lesson yesterday. Last night we
have tackled about interjections.

What is interjection?

Interjection is a word or phrases that expresses emotion or feelings such as wow, oh, ouch, or ah.

It is a part of speech used to convey strong emotions or reaction. Did you understand what is
interjection? Ok

Let’s now move on to our next lesson. Before we jump in to our discussion, I have prepare here
sentences and I want l someone in the class to read each sentence.

What have you notice to these sentences? Ok very good as what you said I used different punctuation
to each sentence. So based from those sentence what do you think is our lesson for tonight? OK very
good that’s right. Can you give or name some punctuation mark that you know? Ok very good it is
correct.

Our lesson for tonight is about Punctuation Marks

Class, when you heard the word punctuation or punctuation marks, what comes first into your mind?

Ok very good, any other ideas?

Here is the definition of punctuation marks.

In short to make the sentences, words or phrases clear, precise and effective we use punctuation marks.

There are many punctuation marks that we use in our daily lives but tonight we are only going to discuss
4 common punctuation marks and these are the period, comma, question mark, and exclamation point.

Period- also indicates completeness. Usually sentence that provides information, make statement or
state a fact use period.

Comma- we usually use comma in separating numbers, dates, items, clarify meaning and many more
Question mark- in this punctuation we usually show curiosity or clarification

Example: what is your name? your curios of his or her name that’s why you are asking

Are you going or not? You are clarifying if he or she is going that’s why you are asking

That is question mark.

Last punctuation marks is the exclamation point

Usually sentence or phrase that use this punctuation indicates loud or forceful tone

For example: Be careful! Stop right there!

Those are the common punctuation marks.

Did you all understand what are punctuation marks, the common punctuation marks and its correct
uses? Ok very good

Let’s have now our activity. I call this activity punctuation mark sorting game. I will divide the class into 2
this will be the group one this will be the group 2. I will give each group a set of paper with written
sentences and phrases on it. What are you going to do sort each paper into the correct categories in the
chart that I have provided to each group. I will give you only 5 minutes

After 5 minutes each group will post their chart that with answer on the board. The times starts now.
Times up please post your chart on the board now. Each group please choose a representative to
present your answer. Group 1 will be the first to present their . Group 2 do you think there answers are
correct? Are you sure? Ok very it is all correct! Next group please present your answers. Ok very good it
is all correct same answer as the first group. Good job everyone please clap your hands for a job well
done

Let’s now move to our 2nd activity. This activity is you need to find a partner. I want you to chat each
other using your phone. Each pair must use specific punctuation marks in every messages that you will
send to each other. Afterward I will call some students to share their messages and I will ask them how
punctuation affects the tone and clarity of communication.

I am gladly happy that you all understand our topic today base on your activities you already understand
how to use correctly each punctuation.

So I assume that you can answer my question. in a ½ sheet of paper please answer these 3 question

1. What do we mean by punctuation marks? Base from our discussion what do we mean by
punctuation marks?
2. Base on your opinion what do you think is the primary function of punctuation?
3. Why punctuation marks are crucial in written communication?
