6. A balanced -connected load has an impedance of 360 + j105 /. The load is fed through a
line having an impedance of 0.1 + j1.0 /. The phase voltage at the terminals of the load is
33kV. The phase sequence is positive. Use VAB as the reference. Calculate
a) The phase currents
b) The line currents
c) The line voltages at the sending end
d) Draw the phasor diagram for currents relationship.

7. A balanced three phase Y-connected generator with positive sequence has an impedance of 0.2 +
j0.5 / and an internal voltage of 120 V/. The generator feeds a balanced three-phase Y-
connected load hvaing an impedance of 39 + j29 /. The impedance of the line connecting the
generator to the load is 0.8 + j1.5 /. The a-phase internal voltage of the generator is specified
as the reference phasor. Calculate

a) The average power per phase delivered to the Y-connected load


b) The total average power delivered to the load
c) The total average power lost in the generator
d) The total number of magnetizing vars absorbed by the load
e) The total complex power delivered by the source.

8. A balanced three-phase load requires 480kW at a lagging power factor of 0.8. The load is fed
from a line a having an impedance of 0.005 + j0.025/. The line voltage at the terminals of the
load is 600V .

a) Construct a single-phase equivalent circuit of the system.


b) Calculate the line current.
c) Calculate the line voltage at the sending end of the line
d) Calculate the power factor at the sending end of the line.
