1. Scope/Objectives
Installation of above ground drainage pipes and fittings in accordance with the
requirements specified in the relevant specifications, procedures and drawings, considering
safety and quality of the work activities.

Access to the work place will be through designated and exit pathway.

 Lift Plan based on the Lifting Operations Management Plan.
 Job specific work permit system shall be followed as per scope of work prior
to the commencement of the activity.
 Daily basic task briefing shall be carried out as per work permit system,

 Skilled and competent workman shall be deployed, external training or third


party training shall be provided if required. MSRA Briefing to be done and
recorded.
4.3. Permit Systems for hazardous work / High Risk Activities.
 Permit to work is mandatory for all activity and the same shall be enforced.
 The Supervisor/ Foreman will inspect the work place physically and ensure the
permit to work conditions are compiled before requesting for the work permit;
the same shall be produced to the engineer in charge of the activity for
approval.
 The Safe conditions mentioned in the work permit shall follow till the completion
of the said activity and the permit to be closed out immediately after every
activity completion.
4.4. Emergency procedure specific to the activity.
 In case of any emergency, the emergency response procedure will be in effect.
The Emergency response team comprises of the Project Manager, Construction
Manager, Project Engineer, the Logistics Engineer, the HSE Engineer, the
Safety Officer and the Male Nurse.
 Emergency rescue shall be carried out as per approved emergency plan,
adequate first aid facility provided as per DM requirement.
 In case of any emergency all employees are advised to communicate the same
through the Emergency Hot Line Number
4.5. Environmental procedure, waste management arrangements.
 All waste shall be disposed as per Approved CEMP with proper segregation.
 Segregation of waste shall be marked with proper signs. Regular removal of
waste from site shall be planned and executed.
 All chemical storage shall be deployed as per approved HSE standard
requirements, paints shall be used & returned back to COSSH store on daily
basis.
 Detailed procedure will be documented in the CEM Plan
4.6. Job specific PPE requirement

 Mandatory PPE include coverall (Workers), Hard Hat, Visibility Vest, Safety
Shoes and Goggles.
 Task specific PPE includes Hand Gloves, Safety Harness, fall arrestors, etc.
 The Supervisor shall ensure his team wears PPE in 100% compliance to project
requirements and to Safe guard themselves.
4.7. Night work and loan working
 Night work shall be carried out with approved DDA night work permit, loan work
is prohibited in palace beach residence.

5. Health & safety hazards.


5.1. Contractor will comply with all safety measures as applicable to project safety
requirement.

7. Responsibilities/Supervision
7.1. Project Manager:
 Shall direct responsible to carry out the works as per approved Method Statement
and Risk Assessment.

 Responsible to prepare method statement and risk assessment for all critical
operation in the project and the same is approved, communicated and followed.
 Directly responsible for ensuring the completion of works as per approved MSRA.
 Ensure welfare arrangements are provided and maintained as per the
requirements.
7.2. Project Engineer:
 Shall be responsible to organize required machinery, material, manpower to
engineers & foreman for effectively executing the work in a safe manner.
 To clarify any discrepancies in the work.
7.3. Foreman:
 To execute the work as per Project Engineers instructions with the right
methodology & in a safe manner.
 Make sure that all the works are completed prior to offering for inspections.
 To execute the works as per approved method statements.
 To attend all the comments made by Consultant at the time of inspection.
 To ensure all equipments inspection by third party and certificate is displayed.
 To ensure workers PPE, sufficient lighting.
7.4. QA / QC Engineer:
 To check the work is carried out as per the approved method statement.
 To ensure all approved materials are being used.
 Verify whether suitability of ambient temperature for casting concrete.
7.5. HSE Staff Responsibilities:
 To advice Project Manager, Construction Manager, Engineers & Supervisor/ Foreman
regarding the Safety precautions to be taken and monitor for the safety implementations to
execute the work.
 Monitor the lifting plan and work permits procedure is complied with and the safe
conditions are in place.
 All employees involved in the activity should be Safety Inducted by safety department
before allowing working at site.

8. Sequence/Method to be Employed

8.1. Material
8.1.1. uPVC to BS EN 1329-1 (BS 4514) for pipe sizes 80mm dia and above, ABS to BS EN
1455 for pipe sizes 55mm and below, associated fittings, cleaner, solvent.

8.2. Tools for above ground drainage pipes and fittings installation and testing.
8.2.1. Plumber Hand Tools, Portable Power Drill Machine / Cutting Machine, Test plug for drain
pipes testing, PPE.
8.3. Installation Procedure
The following stages are applicable for Installation and testing of above Ground drainage
pipes and fittings.
Pre-Installation Check:
8.3.1. Approved Builders work drawing and approved shop drawing to be checked by supervisor.
8.3.2. Prior to commencement of work, work area should be checked for cleanliness and safety to
start the work
8.3.3. Engineer to check physical verification of material will be carried out for any damages prior
to taking from store.
8.3.4. Site supervisors will ensure that all gridlines and datum lines are marked by main
contractor’s surveyor and all the route and marking are based on datum line provided by
surveyor.
8.3.5. Site supervisor will ensure necessary clearance documents received from safety and other
authorities.

8.3.1. Approved shop drawing for drainage layout to be checked for routing of pipes and setting
out dimensions.
8.3.2. During execution of Builder’s work for all wet areas (Bathrooms/ Kitchen/ Toilets), Bilt
surveyor will mark the setting out location as per approved builders work shop drawing in
coordination with main contractor surveyor.
8.3.3. Routing of pipe to be identified as per approved shop drawing and marking of the route to
be done on ceiling or on the wall.
8.3.4. All the horizontal pipes should run to proper slope requirement as per Authority and slopes
as mentioned in shop drawing.
8.3.5. Invert level of pipes to be checked by Supervisor from approved shop drawings and pipe
supports to be installed as per approved shop drawings.
8.3.6. Ensure post tension cable zone are avoidable to route pipe marking. (if applicable)
8.3.7. Marking for Post Tension to be provided by the main contractor. (if applicable)
8.3.8. The approved pipe hangers to be installed from ceiling / wall as per the routing marked
prior to installation of pipe. Pipes to be supported at a distance as specified in approved
shop drawings / manufacturer’s recommendation
8.3.9. Required number of pipes and fittings as per sizes required from approved shop drawings
to be kept ready for installation.
8.3.10. Pipes and fittings to be thoroughly cleaned on surface and any foreign material to be
removed from inside.
8.3.11. Cut the pipe at right angle using appropriate cutter or saw.
8.3.12. Chamfer the pipe and remove burrs and filings.
8.3.13. Clean the pipe and fitting with dry cloth and apply approved cleaner Parabond C-70 outside
the surface of the pipe and inside the surface of fitting, this removes all dirt and machine
release agents, and softens the surface ready for the chemical solvent weld. Failure to do
this can result in joint failure.
8.3.14. The Pipe and socket to be jointed should be carefully examined for any damage, which
would impair the jointing procedure.
8.3.15. The Pipe insertion depth should be measured as the depth from the mouth to the shoulder
of

the socket. The insertion depth should then be marked on the Pipe using an indelible
crayon
8.3.16. Using a brush, apply an even layer of approved solvent cement Parabond P-14 to the
mating surface of the Pipe and socket. The cement should be applied in a lengthwise
direction and not in a circular motion. For joints of nominal diameter of 3 and above, the
cement should be applied simultaneously to the pipe and socket by two people
8.3.17. While solvent cement is still wet insert the pipe inside the socket fitting until it reaches
socket end, it is recommended to twist the pipe ¼ turn while inserting it inside the fitting for
better distribution of solvent cement.
8.3.18. Wipe the access solvent cement and leave the joint to dry.
8.3.19. Cleanout will be installed as indicated on approved drawings and to have effective rodding
of main lines in case of clogging. Cleanout shall be located so that there is a clearance for
the purpose rodding / cleaning.
8.3.20. Pipes to be identified as per approved identification scheme.

8.4. Testing Procedure:

8.4.1. System to be checked visually for the correctness of installation as per approved shop
drawings.
8.4.2. Pipes to be tested are plugged by drainage test plugs so that air can be vented out through
the screw caps.
8.4.3. Install vertical pipe length to the drainage line to provide necessary testing water head.
8.4.4. Fill the drainage system with water to a height of 1.5m.
8.4.5. The pipe work should be inspected for any leakage and all defected installation should be
repaired and tested again. After testing all pipe ends have to be kept closed at all times
with proper PVC end caps.

9. Notification of Inspection

9.1. Engineer to inspect delivered material / installations at site as per attached check
lists, prior to notifying consultant for inspection.
9.2. Bilt shall notify the Consultant with relevant transmittal form for all material
inspection (Material Inspection Check list attached)

10. Witness Inspection/Check


10.1. Bilt will follow the approved check list/inspection checklist test plan for witnessing
inspection/check, as applicable.
10.2. Rectification of any defect /damages, found during inspection is to be rectified by
responsible Site Engineer and QA/QC to check & confirm the same to consultant for
his approval.

11. Records:

11.1. Prepare work inspection request (WIR) along with check list and have them signed
by Consultant.
12. SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION
This MS to be read in conjunction with the below referenced documents
 Contract Drawings and specifications
 Project Quality Plan
 Project HSE Plan
13. DISTRIBUTION
Copies of this MS will be circulated to the following for Information & action

Ensure that all the activities have been carried out to suit the site conditions and involved
