How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:
☐ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.
☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.
☒ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
it via an outside source.)
Lesson idea implementation:
First, I will provide an overview of today’s lesson, goals, and objects. I then will open discussion as a
whole group to refresh on prior knowledge and brainstorm for thoughts on multi-media tools and
their uses. I will let them see/hear examples of students using multi-media tools. Next, I will pass out
the ELA writing assignment they completed on informative/explanatory texts. Students will work in
groups to decide on a text from the group and make a presentation using a multimedia tool of their
choice. Students will be encouraged to be creative! Last, students will show their presentations to
the class. I will end by doing a wrap-up whole group discussion encouraging students to participate
in the conversation and discuss what they learned, their thoughts on the activity, and any challenges
or issues they had.
Managing student learning:
This tool will cause a shift in the behavior of the students where they move from passive to active
social learners as it involves participation, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
Time-on-task will be implemented by co-use/co-engagement, setting time limits for tasks, the use of
storyboards, and ask 3 then me.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection: Be sure to mention one specific UDL principle you
are focused on in this lesson – Multiple Means of Engagement, Multiple Means of Representation,
or Multiple Means of Action & Expression.
This instructional tool meets the UDL principle of multiple means of action and expression by providing
options for physical action, expression and communication, and executive functions. It also meats the UDL
principle of multiple means of engagement by recruiting interests, options for sustaining effort, and
persistence.
Reflection: This multi-media tool lesson is perfect for my students and provides a variety of learning and
social skills. I believe allowing students to take the lead and work together will not only engage but motivate

and enhance the students’ learning. I look forward to observing my students, viewing presentations, and
receiving feedback regarding their experiences.
