should the unqualified or unauthorized personnel attempt to carry out any maintenance.

The notes given are guidelines only, and do not suggest a work task sheet. This should not be
taken as exclusive or mandatory. It must be borne in mind that the system operates 24Hrs. a
day, throughout the year. A shut down of any item for repair or checks must be fully coordinated
with those responsible for the building and the users. Advice regarding this cannot be included
in this manual.

When working on equipment, the following general instructions apply:

 Using the equipment strictly in accordance with manufacturer’s technical literature.
 All relevant code of practice and regulation must be observed in quality control,
testing and inspection.
 Store products in clean and dry environment. Consumable items should be easily
available.
 Shut down of equipment may affect other equipment within the system and ensure
work is done in logical sequence.
 Do wear suitable protection for eyes, ears, hand, legs etc. Do not work on live
electrical systems or work with wet hands.

SECTION - 6

MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
The Float valves in the Water storage tanks should be inspected to ensure the proper
functioning.
For the Maintenance of Circulation pump set, following instructions to be followed.
 For safety reasons make sure before carrying out any maintenance activity that there
is no pressure in the water system and power supply is switched off.
 The Pressure vessel must be checked every 4-6 (six) months making sure that the pre-
charge value corresponds to the factory setting or customer setting (depending on the
system working parameters); in case of need adjust the pre-charge value refilling with
compressed air or nitrogen.
 Clean the vessels with water and soap only in order to grant a proper lasting of the
paint.
 In case some components are worn out or corroded the vessel must be replaced.
 Use only original spare parts coming from the Manufacturer.

6.2 General Maintenance of Drainage

Generally, Drainage doesn’t require major maintenance.

Manhole chambers doesn’t have to be maintained as it was built to access the underground
pipeline in case of any build ups or blockage along the line. However, the drain point of Shower
is provided with sand trap to prevent the entry of sand in Drainage network. Periodic checking
is required to clean the sealing plates of chambers. No persons deemed to be less than
competent and suitably experienced should carry out any care and maintenance activities on
the drainage network by this manual. All works are to be carried out in accordance with the
current general and local Health & Safety regulations.

6.3 General Maintenance of Cooled Water System

Parts of the refrigeration system must be inspected monthly to see if the system is functioning
properly and if there are signs of water. Unit failure usually occur before the unit fails or damage,
therefore periodic inspections are the primary means of preventing most system failures. For
detailed maintenance of Cooled water system, please refer detailed maintenance procedure
mentioned under section Manufacturer literature.

HSE & DISPOSAL INSTRUCTIONS

Out of consideration for the personal safety and health, removal works must be carried out by
specially trained persons. Furthermore, all rules and regulations covering safety, health and
environment must be observed. During dismantling, caution should be exercised as there will be
access to sharp edges, etc., which may cut or cause injury.

Before starting any (maintenance) work on the system, make sure that the necessary health and
safety requirements are in place. Materials used in any activities should be disposed-off
according to the local authority guideline only. Materials used does not require any specific
disposal instructions which does not have any hazardous materials.

Disposal instructions:

Materials used in maintenance activities and any repaired or replaced items may require
classification as to the type of waste material that they constitute. The Facilities Maintenance
Team is directed to the series of Technical Guidelines (and relevant bulletins) available from the
Dubai Municipality Environment Protection & Safety Section, which cover Hazardous Waste.

The installed items described within this manual which require no special considerations with
regard to their disposal and can be disposed of as general builder’s waste unless contaminated
with a known hazardous material. In the event of such contamination, local procedures must be
followed during disposal.

The preferred options for disposal are:

 Recycling
 Landfill

Any items or materials left over from maintenance\repair work should be stored and used as
spares, where necessary, as this will reduce the cost of future maintenance activities.

OPERATION & MAINTENANCE MANUAL FOR POTABLE WATER PUMP STATION

Known Hazards:

In processing the disposal of any material related to the items as mentioned in the O&M Manual,
Facilities Maintenance personnel must recognize and understand the inherent hazards of sharp
edges, weight and dust particles when handling those items covered by this manual.

Working with the chlorine and pH dosing system. Proper Mask should be used while dealing
with dosing system, as this can cause problems if inhaled. In the event of inhalation, wash with
clean water, and move to an area where we have sufficient air circulation. Contact medical team
for further assistance.

Safe Disposal:

Debris and waste should be swept up or vacuumed and placed in strong polythene bags (such as
the bags used to package the mineral board). If the waste is non-hazardous, dispose of at an
approved waste site suitable for building waste, while observing local regulations.

All wastewater from high pressure stripping operations should be collected and disposed of
through an appropriate disposal agency.

Never dispose of solvent products into watercourses such as drains, sewers, channels or gullies.

To protect against environmental contamination, including the formation of unwanted ozone at

ground level and damage to the ozone layer in the earth's outer atmosphere, legislation has been
enacted in some countries making it illegal to use even moderate quantities of some solvents,
such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs) contained in paint removers. In response to this
legislation, many new products are being developed that do not contain VOCs.

Do not mix Catalyst and Accelerator directly to avoid explosive mixture. Never add Metal Salts
(Accelerators/Promoters) or Promoted resins to a Peroxide. When adding peroxides to resin solution, promptly
and thoroughly mix the resulting product. Never add organic peroxides to a hot diluent or process. Avoid
contamination of any foreign materials including accelerators, promoters, metal salts, strong acids or sanding
dust.
The Accelerator must be thoroughly dispersed in the Polypol-1003. Shortly before use, add the correct
amount of catalyst and mix thoroughly. When catalyst is added to resin which has been accelerated for
several days, the pot life may be shorter than that of freshly-accelerated resin.
CURE CONDITIONS
Curing should not be carried out below 15°Cand the resin must be allowed to attain ambient temperature (above 15°C) before being formulated
for use.
Not to use any amines in production and post curing is essential for all types of mouldings.
Mouldings which are coming in contact with water or foodstuff must be cured at 25 oC for 24 hours and post cured 3 hours at 100 oC. After
achieving its mechanical properties, mouldings must thoroughly wet steam cleaned for at least 2 hour before being put in to use. Steam
cleaning for four hours is preferred. When wet steam cleaning is not practical, then the vessel shaped mouldings should be filled with hot water
(60oC-80oC) containing non-perfumed detergent and allow to stand for 4 hours. It should be then emptied and thoroughly washed several times
in repeated clean hot water to avoid smell of Styrene and change in properties of stored water . Above precautions are essential to avoid the
tainting of water.
