goals and perspective in/of anthropology, sociology and political
science.
Specifically this discussion aims to:
Recognize the nature, goals and perspective of different disciplines in
social sciences.
2. Identify the different key personalities in the development of
anthropology , sociology and Political science; and
3. Reflect on the importance of social science in societal progress and

Is the discipline under which identity, culture, society, and


politics are studied. It is comprised of disciplines that study
the overall function of a society, as well as the interactions
among individual members of an institution. Anthropology,
Sociology, and Political Science are among the disciplines
under Social Science.
Society
Society is define as an organized
group/s of independent people
who sharea common territory,
language and culture, and who
act together for collective survival
and wellbeing.
Culture
Culture consist of the beliefs
behaviors objects, and other
characteristics common to the
member of the particular
group or society.
Anthropology
Edward Taylor

According to 18 Century English anthropologist he


define Anthropology as a behavioral science that
deals with the study of culture - its components,
characteristics, functions, modes of complex whole
which encompasses the beliefs, practices, values,
attitudes, norms, artifacts, symbols, knowledge, and
everything that a person learns and shares as
member of society.
Political Science

Deals with the study of politics or


government. It also dwells on the study
of the foundations of the state and the
principles of government.
