QUADRATIC FUNCTION
is a function that can be written in two
forms:
(a) general form as where a, b, and c
are real numbers and a≠0;
(b) standard or vertex form as
y = a(x-h)²+ k where (h,k) is the vertex.
QUADRATIC FUNCTION
In quadratic function, equal differences in x
do not lead to equal first differences in y;
instead the second differences in y are
equal. Its degree of function is two and the
graph of a quadratic function is a smooth
curve called parabola.
GENERAL FORM OF
QUADRATIC FUNCTION

y = ax²+bx+c
GENERAL FORM OF
QUADRATIC FUNCTION

y = 2x² + 10x - 600

QUADRATIC
FUNCTION
DESCRIBE EACH GRAPH
GRAPH OF QUADRATIC FUNCTION
The parabola opens upward and downward.
It has a turning point called vertex which is
either the lowest or the highest point of the
graph.
If the value of a > 0, it opens upward and
has a minimum point.
If a < 0, the parabola opens downward
and has a maximum point.
GRAPH OF QUADRATIC FUNCTION
The axis of symmetry is a line that divides
the graph of a quadratic function into two
equal parts. It is also a vertical line that
passes through the vertex. The equation of
the line can be determined by the x-
coordinate of the vertex.
GRAPH OF QUADRATIC
FUNCTION

Graph y = x² - 2x - 3
Since a is a positive number, the parabola opens upward.
GRAPH OF QUADRATIC

has minimum value.
