Methodology and activities
Methodology(stages of lesson) :
Link the subject to previous student's knowledge
I am going to ask students to give some background information about present simple, present
continuous, present perfect and present perfect continuous. How are they formed and what do
they express?
Contruction of new knowdege
Ask students to read the text on page 10. While reading the text they have to identify the verb
tenses. Then, they have to match the tenses to their use ex: Present simple - Daily routine, present
continous - actions happening at the moment of speaking etc.
Before completing exercise 2 students are going to have a look at the grammar reference section
and identify the uses of those present tenses. They have a discussion on the use of those tenses.
Then they have to choose the correct verb form ex: Peter works/is working as a waiter in a
restaurant. .
I will also explain to the students the future tenses: using "will" or "be going to". Will is used for:
a) on spot decision, b) prediction based on what you think, c) threat, d) promis. (Be) going to is
used: a) plans, b) predition based on what you see. Future continunous - actions in progress at a
stated future time etc. Then students identify the tenses in exercise 3 and match them to their uses
A-G.
Presentation and demonstration of the achieved result
In order to present their achieved knowledge about future forms students are going to complete
ex.4 putting the verbs into the correct future form.
Assessment
I will evaluate students on their participation in the lesson.
