READING. Read this text and do Tasks A and B. 5 x 0.2= 1 mark

Does the Perfect City Exist?

A
Where do you think the world’s most fashionable place would be? Dubai? Thailand, maybe? Well, think
again! In a recent survey of over 1,000 young people, it wasn’t the exotic and tropical place that finished at
the top of the list, but Reykjavik, in Iceland, is now the place where young people would most like to go.

B
The city, which is one of Europe’s smallest capitals, with a population of just 120,000, offers an amazing
variety of entertainment, from superb restaurants and cafés to cinemas where you can watch the latest
Icelandic and international films. In addition, you can get to know the incredible night culture there. Besides,
you can try an amazing variety of cold drinks created in Iceland.

C
However, if you prefer doing activities in the fresh air you can take a bus out of the city and within an hour’s
ride, you’ll find horse riding, fishing and mountain-biking. You can even board one of the many tourist boats
and spend a day whale-watching. Finally, you can relax in one of the most amazing hot springs in the world.
They are like jacuzzis!

D
This city has a reputation for friendliness that is well-deserved. When you go through passport control at the
airport, the officials will probably share a joke with you instead of giving you serious looks or asking you
difficult questions. Most people take planes from Europe but you can get there from the USA, Canada and
even Japan! So, what are you waiting for? Put on your seat belt and take off for Reykjavik!

Task A: Match the headings to the paragraphs. One has already been done.

FRIENDLINESS AND HOW TO GET THERE D

1 OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

2 HAVING GREAT FUN

3 A TRENDIEST PLACE TO VISIT

Task B: Circle T for true and F for false. Correct the false statement/s on the blank line/s below.
