The following window replacement kits are available for the AdaptaScan Bar Code Readers (Part No.
2755-SN3, -SN5, -SN8):

• Glass Replacement Window Kit (Part No. 2755–NW45)


Glass window kit includes bezel/window assembly with anti–reflective optical glass window.

• Plastic Replacement Window Kit (Part No. 2755–NW44)


Plastic window kit includes bezel/window assembly with hard coated, anti–reflective optical plastic
window.

ATTENTION: Disconnect the power to the Reader before


attempting to replace the scan window to avoid potential eye
! damage from the laser beam.

ATTENTION: Many electronic components in the scanner are


static sensitive. Anyone servicing the scanner should be well
! grounded through an ESD strap and ground cord. For
additional protection from static discharge, the Reader should
be attached to the wiring base.

1. Shut off power to the Reader.


2. Clean around the window bezel.
3. Refer to the figure below and remove the six #6–32 screws located around the bezel/window
assembly.

4. Carefully pull away the bezel/window assembly from the front of the Reader.

ATTENTION: Do not touch internal mirrors. Smudges from


fingerprints will diffuse the laser beam. Do not allow any
! debris to fall into the open Reader.

5. Discard the old bezel/window assembly.

1. Be careful not to smudge the window when removing the bezel/window assembly from its
packaging. If needed, refer to the AdaptaScan Reader user manual for cleaning instructions.

2. Place the bezel/window assembly against the front of the Reader, aligning the six #6–32 screws
with the six holes on the Reader body. Make sure that the bezel/window assembly is positioned
with the wider side to the top of the Reader.

3. Tighten the six #6–32 screws to a torque of 10 in/lbs (1.1 N–m) in a side to side sequence to
provide even compression of the sealing gasket.

4. Refer to the AdaptaScan user manual to install, align, and verify optimum operation before
returning the Reader to service. Observe all warnings and cautions on the product and in the user
manual.
