The electronic controller (2) controls these items: engine speed, pump flow and other items. The
machine may be operated to a limited extent, even though the controller (2) is not working. This is

possible because a backup system is installed. The controller (2) has overvoltage protection and solid-
state overcurrent protection. The reliability of the control system is high.

Engine flywheel 311C and 314CCR

(9) Speed sensor

Speed sensor (9) is located in the engine flywheel housing. An AC voltage signal is generated when a
tooth on the ring gear passes the sensor. The frequency of the signal is directly proportional to the
speed of the moving tooth. The controller (2) converts this frequency into the engine speed. This
engine speed is used to control the hydraulic pump and the engine.

(12) Governor actuator

Feedback sensor (13) is located in governor actuator (12). A pulley is rotated when the governor
actuator (12) is activated. The sensor detects the rotation angle of the pulley. This rolls up a cable.
The angle of rotation is converted into a PWM signal. This PWM signal is input to the controller (2).

(18) Switch for one touch low idle

The engine speed dial (10) can input 10 positions of no-load engine speed to the controller (2) .

Switch for One Touch Low Idle

The switch for one touch low idle (18) is located on the top of the right control lever. When the
control lever is in the NEUTRAL position and the switch for one touch low idle (18) is turned ON,
the engine speed is adjusted to 1200 rpm for the 311C. The engine speed is adjusted to 1300 rpm on
the 314CCR.

Implement swing pressure switch (19) is located on the top of the control valve. Implement swing
pressure switch (19) turns ON when either the swing or the implement control lever is actuated.

Travel Pressure Switch

The travel pressure switch (20) is located on the top of the control valve. The travel pressure switch
(20) turns ON when the travel control lever is operated.

Starter Switch

Controller (2) begins to operate when starter switch (4) is placed in the ON position or the START
position. The operation stops when starter switch (4) is turned to the OFF position.

Pump Pressure Sensor

Pump Compartment

(22) Pump pressure sensor 311C and 314CCR

The pump pressure sensor (22) inputs a pressure value to controller (2). This pressure is used by the
controller (2) in order to control the pump output.

(15) Travel alarm cancel switch 311C

Travel alarm (17) will not sound when the travel alarm cancel switch (15) is ON. When travel stops
and travel resumes, the travel alarm (17) will sound.

Pressure Switch for the Attachment Pump

The pressure switch for the attachment pump (21) turns ON while the attachment pedal is operated in
order to operate the attachment pump.

Output Components
The controller (2) outputs a signal to the following components:

• Governor actuator (12)

• Proportional reducing valve for power shift pressure (16)

• Travel alarm (17)

(12) Governor actuator

(24) Acceleration control

Engine speed dial (10) can be turned to any of 10 positions. The controller (2) sends a PWM signal to
governor actuator (12). This signal indicates the current position of the engine speed dial. Governor
actuator (12) adjusts the control cable (24) until the position matches the PWM signal. The movement
of control cable (24) controls the engine speed.

Proportional Reducing Valve for Power Shift Pressure

Pump compartment

(16) Proportional reducing valve for power shift pressure 311C and 314CCR

The controller (2) adjusts the electrical current flow for the proportional reducing valve for power
shift pressure (16) in response to the following major items: position of the engine speed dial, engine
speed and pump delivery pressure. This changes the power shift pressure.

Travel alarm (17) sounds during travel. Travel alarm (17) warns people close to the machine.
