Comprehensive Review of Duties and Responsibilities of AC Coach Mechanic Power Car Operators 05062023
A. In reference to above it is stated that for AC Coach In-Charge/ AC Coach Mechanic and
Power car operators,
1. The procedure of counting 104 Hours duty in fortnightly roster considering one hour
on both arrival and departure of the train with the running hours is followed over WR.
2. The outstation halt period is not being considered as on duty and no OT allowance is
being paid for this period but this period is counted for the claim of Travelling
Allowance.
B. The duly list assigned to AC Coach In-Charge (ACCI) is as under,
1. Should be available in coach one hour before schedule departure of the train & up to
one hour after reaching the destination.
2. Check log book for any entry by maintenance staff and act accordingly.
3. Check OFF load battery voltage.
4. Record all parameters of the equipment in the log book.
5. Check whether the coach is pre-cooled or if not, pre-cooling should be done.
6. Check all lights, emergency lights, night lights, reading lamps and mobile charging
sockets.
7. Record AC temperature in the log book for every 2 hrs.
8. If any abnormality is observed, note down the same in the log book and solve the
problem.
9. Frequently check the AC plant panel indications for any faults.
10. Keep water raising pumps on Auto mode and if any controller is defective change the
pump after every 4-6 hrs.
11. Be cautious about any unclaimed luggage.
12. Keep panel door properly closed.
13. Ensure availability of 3 phase T.C. cable, UIC Coupler.
14. Use fire extinguisher in case of fire.
15. Open emergency window in case of emergency.
16. Communicate line failure or any abnormality or Non-AC certificate if any. Inform to
base depot i.e destination depot through Electrical Control.
17. Carry proper tool kit box/ bag.
18. Fill log book details.
19. Attachment of I. V coupler for HOG system.
20. Attach UIC coupler for HOG system.
21. Time to be noted for panto lowering & panto raising during coupler connections.
22. Monitoring of main pantry equipment.
23. Switching OFF (Locking of) hot plates in pantry cars from 23:00 Hrs to 05:00 Hrs.
24. Keeping mobile charging points in switched OFF position from panel (MCB) between
23:00 Hrs to 05:00 Hrs.
25. Staff should report for duty in proper uniform with I.D card.
26. Extending T.C. from healthy coach to unhealthy coach in case of any failure such as 3
phase 415 Volts supply or 110 V DC supply.
27. To attend Rail Madad complaints round the clock & take feedback from passengers.
28. Cases of Mobile charging point fuses blown, same needs to be replaced en-route.
29. Should reset the MCB/ safety gears tripping en-route during neutral rectifier or due to
to any other reason.
30. Redistribution of load on feeder/ converter in case of failure of any feeder by switching
over the net supply of the load.
31. To ensure that no unauthorized electrical gadgets are being used by passengers so that
there may be chances of short circuit or fire.
32. To assist Train Manager/ LP/ ALP in case of ACP, Pipe breakage or any other causality.
33. To liaison with all divisions control in case of any abnormality
Railway Board has issued guidelines to use ICF Coaches as resting coach. There are practical
problems e.g. watering, sanitation, cleaning, charging, security etc. Therefore it is suggested
that adequate resting facility may be developed for escorting staff at various destination
stations over the IR in line with running staff.
