Ever since KOKEN developed in 1975 its first hydraulic rotary

percussion drill for use in Japan , the RPD has earned a well
respected reputation for high production drilling in all formations
while proving to be exceptionally reliable. Users value the tremendous

This Arrow drill is lighter
than a compact boring machine!

The weight of the drill unit is about 380kg, much lighter than a compact boring machine.
(cf.KOKEN model OE-8B - compact boring machine - is about 600kg with the motor.)
Double tube system can be used for rock bolting.

With such a small size, it is an "arrow drill".

The new double tube size has been developed to be suitable for
rock bolting work.
Arrow drill Double Tube Rock Bolt Method
Digs with the double tube made system of the outer rod and the inner rod.
This method is generally used for anchoring.

The outer rod is fully recovered like the inner rod after reaching the
scheduled depth and the rock bolt is inserted in the outer rod then cement
milk is filled.

Correct drilling,insertion of the rock bolt and grouting are possible even
in difficult geological conditions such as collapsed and pumice layers.
This can be achieved because the bore hole wall is protected by the outer rod.

APPLICATIONS

SLOPE PROTECTION ANCHORING

Anchoring is used to prevent landslides and stabilize steep
hillsides where slides are likely after excavation for construction.
If anchoring while excavating a hillside, crawler mounting is more
desirable but if using a mobile platform, skid mounting is
recommended.

RETAINING WALL ANCHORING

Popular for use in underground and open cut job sites for both
temporary and permanent anchoring and retaining wall construction.
The drill is usually crawler-mounted for maximum job site mobility.

CORE SAMPLING IN DIFFICULT STRATUM

The percussion wire line sampler can collect a core with a recovery
of close to 100 percent in a difficult stratum as gravel, stone layer
or mixed hard-soft stratum for which it is extremely difficult to
investigate the geological feature.

DRILLING PRIOR TO UNDERGROUND

DEVELOPMENT
To accomplish successful underground development,
such as subway tunneling and excavation, drilling works
such as water prevention and ground consolidation must
be completed prior to construction. High speed RPD use
is highly efficient in costly urban drilling projects.

DRILLING OF WATER WELL

It drills at substantially fast speed conpared to standard
drilling,even in gravel or in rock. Ground water is therefore
reached in a short time.
LOWERING OF HIGH GROUND WATER LEVELS

Lowering of high groundwater levels prior to excavation for

construction and to prevent landslides requires a high powered
compact drill to operate inside limited access shafts.
Our flexible H-Series was specially developed for these
applications.

PERMANENT ANCHORING OF TALL BUILDING

High capacity foundation anchoring for tall structures in unstable
formations is necessary to prevent shifting during changing load
and stress conditions.
Our high power RPD-150C excels in these conditions due to its
large drilling diameter, high power and dual tube capabilities
resulting in fewer anchors required.

DAM FOUNDATION GROUT HOLE DRILLING

Dam foundation construction calls for a wide range of grouting
works including consolidation, curtain grout hole drilling and
dewatering.
RPD use is highly effective with its double tube and high speed
drilling capabilities resulting in time and cost saving during
construction.

DEWATERING AND GROUT HOLE DRILLING

The high speed and long drilling capacity of the RPD make it
very effective for use in horizontal dewatering and grouting for
tunnelling works yielding higher excavation speeds and reduced
construction costs.
For example : an RPD-100SL -F2 has completed a 200m
horizontal hole in just 5 days.

RAILBED TIEBACK ANCHORING

Tieback anchoring to prevent setting and movement of rail
beds is an important work that benefits from the speed of
RPD technology.

of high capacity anchoring jobs.
