Workshop 03.3: Arbitrary Crack
Type of Analysis
Fracture Analysis of a 3D Cracked
Specimen using Arbitrary Crack

Problem Description
This tutorial illustrates a fracture
analysis of a 3D cracked
specimen under a tensile load.
The crack is modeled at the
geometry level by means of a
construction body. Fracture
parameters are postprocessed
using a J-Integral approach.

Workshop 03.3: Arbitrary Crack
Review the mesh quality:
• Select the Mesh object
• Set detail Mesh Metric to Element Quality
• Select any bar in the Mesh Metrics histogram to
view the elements that fall into that quality range
• When finished, set detail Mesh Metric to None

Additional background on Mesh Metrics is available here in the ANSYS documentation.
