Thank you to all the parents who are assisting with transport on the day. KINDERGARTENBESTSTARTASSESSMENTS Last week our kindergarten parents received their childs BestStartAssessmentReport.Thisweekthekindergarten teacherswillbeconductingtheirparentteacherinterviews throughout the week. These interviews will be occurring during school hours as well as after school to accommodateallofourkindergartenparents.Thankyouto our kindergarten teachers for the assessments you have completedforallofyourstudentsthusfar. OURGARDENS Many thanks to the wonderful families and exteachers who are supporting us in beautifying our school. Your generosity in donating plants and your time is very much appreciated.ManythanksagaintoourcommunityandMrs Szewcow,MrsLehn,MrsFahey,MrsHanley,MrLynchand MrLaFlamme. Your gardens have been well and truly watered since you putyourplantsin,sowelldone! GATEOPENINGTIMES Our school is a gated school which means shortly after 9.15amallgatesarelocked.Theonlyaccessafterthistime is via the Office in Fletcher Street. This provides dual securityinthatitlimitswhocanentertheschoolandalso preventsstudentsleavingtheschoolgrounds.Oursecurity fence has also made a huge difference in reducing vandalisminourschool. UNIVERSITYOFNSWCOMPETITIONS These competitions are available to anyone in Years 36 who wish to participate. Application forms are included in thisnewsletterandwillbeavailableontheschoolwebsite. NoapplicationswillbeacceptedafterMarch30th.

Whilst I acknowledge the value of social media in our communityandtheimmediacyofthecommunication,Ido ask(aswedowiththestudents)thatwethinkbeforewe write. Positive school culture at Helensburgh is something the staff and school leaders value and are focussing on. We are striving for excellence in programs and opportunitiesthatwillsupportallchildrenslearning.Ialso acknowledgethatwhenthingsgowrongandweareupset, things may be written that we later regret. If you have concerns, or are at anytime upset about an incident involvingyourchild,aneventoranexperiencethenplease contacteithertheAssistantPrincipalsorthePrincipalabout yourconcerns. HOWTOCONTACTATEACHER From time to time you may need to speak to your childs class teacher. You can do this by: sending a note to the teacherandtheywillrespondassoonaspossiblecalland leave a message with the Administration Staff and in an emergency I ask that you come to the office and indicate there is something of an urgent nature that must be communicated to a member of the staff. If the teacher is unavailable either the Assistant Principals or the Principal willendeavourtospeaktoyou. Oncethebellringsinthemorningallteachershaveaduty of care to promptly attend to their classes. If parents quickly grab staff on their way to lines their attention is divertedfromtheircareofourstudents.

The Robotics Lego League teaches design, construction, robotics principals and basic computer programming. It is aimed at children between the ages of 8 and 12 years old.
