AGRICULTURAL
MACHINERY

Is a type of mechanical structures and

devices that is used in farming or other
agriculture and mostly used which helps
farmers to easily harvest or tow from both
organic or non-organic farming and saves
labour.
TYPES OF AGRICULTURAL
MACHINERY

COMBINES

It is a versatile machine designed to

efficiently harvest a variety of grain crops.
The name derives from its combining
four separate harvesting operations
namely: reaping, threshing, gathering,
winnowing.
Combined harvesters are one of the
most economically important labour
saving inventions, it significantly reduce
the fractions of the manpower populations
who were engaged in agriculture.
TYPES OF AGRICULTURAL
MACHINERY

PLANTERS

It is a common type of seeder which

automate their tasks by transplanting
seedlings to the fields which spaces out
equally in long rows, usually from 2 – 3
feet apart.
TYPES OF AGRICULTURAL
MACHINERY

SPRAYERS

It is a machine that is used to spray

liquids such as herbicides, pesticides and
fertilizers where commonly used for
projection of water, weed killers, crop
performance materials, pest maintenance
chemicals and manufacturing and
production line ingredients.
TYPES OF AGRICULTURAL
MACHINERY

BALERS

It is a piece in agricultural machinery

that is used to cut and rake crops into
compact bales which helps farmers easier
to handle, transport and store.
TYPES OF AGRICULTURAL
MACHINERY

OTHER AGRICULTURAL IMPLEMENTS

Other vehicles have been adopted for
use in farming such as trucks, airplanes,
drones and helicopters for transporting
crops and making equipment mobile, to
aerial spraying, livestock herd
management and etc.
IMPORTANCE OF
AGRICULTURAL MACHINERY

Sustainable mechanization is the practice of introducing

the proper machinery to farmers to ensure that their
agricultural production is not only more environmentally
sustainable but is more efficient in growing crops.
This refers to all farming and processing technologies
from basic hand tools to motorized equipment. It does not
just look at the technical aspects of farming, it also takes
into account the effect that tools have on a farmer’s
outputs, from crop production along the value chain to
marketable products. And in return, it has a greater impact
on farmer’s income.
AGRICULTURAL
POWER

• It is an area of land that is primarily devoted for

agriculture and the use of technology, one of the most
expensive and critical inputs when growing a rice crop.
• Humans, animals and machines are all used as the
sources of power in agricultural production.
• When undertaking operations on agriculture, a certain
amount of work is required to complete the tasks.
TYPES OF
AGRICULTURAL POWER

HUMAN POWER

Farmers were undertaken as the

power source. Its tasks includes: land
preparation, plant establishment, pests
control, crop harvesting and transporting,
and grain processing.
Some instances, manual labor is still
more efficient than machine because it
has a capability to shift between 2 – 3
cubic meters per day.
TYPES OF
AGRICULTURAL POWER

ANIMAL POWER

Animals were undertaken as the

power source. It is widely used for many
countries. Its tasks includes: land
preparation, crop threshing, weed
management and to transport.
Ox, Cow, Carabao or Buffalo are the
most popular animal power source for
agricultural practices.
TYPES OF
AGRICULTURAL POWER

MECHANICAL POWER

The most expensive, highly efficient

device such as engines that uses fuels to
function. They are used for pumping
water, flour mills, threshing and etc.
TYPES OF
AGRICULTURAL POWER

ELECTRICAL POWER

It has become the very important

source of power on farms. It is mostly
used especially in the rural areas for
irrigation and domestic water supply.
Farmers also use renewable energy
such as wind energy, solar energy,
geothermal energy, hydro energy, ocean
energy and etc.
IMPORTANCE OF
AGRICULTURAL POWER

The power is necessary for agricultural production by

providing human labour, draught animals or engine-
driven machinery. Mechanization is a key input in any
farming system applying tools, implements and
machinery to improve the productivity of farm labour and
land.
Power is defined as the energy or force that can be
used to do work. In all these operations, human power is
by far as the earliest source of power that is available on
the farm and considered to be very important in all
activities carried out on the farm.
