WHAT IS TOBACCO?

• Tobacco is a plant that contains nicotine, an addictive chemical with both stimulant and
depressant effects. Tobacco leaves are used to make products that can be consumed in
different ways: smoked in cigarettes, cigar or even in pipes.
• A plant with leaves that have high levels of the addictive chemical nicotine.
• Tobacco is a plant grown for its leaves, which are dried before being put in tobacco
products. Tobacco contains nicotine, the ingredients that can lead to addiction.
