ABSTRACT…
 This experiment involves study to reduce the
greenhouse gas emissions by implementing use of
alternative material to cement.
 Portland cement manufacturing process requires
enormous amount of energy and also consumes huge
quantity of natural resources.
 To overcome this issue, Portland cement free
geopolymer concrete is produced with ground
granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) as main binder
and micronized biomass silica (MBS) is substituted
in place of GGBS at different quantities.
INTRODUCTION…
 Geopolymer concrete is an innovative , eco-
friendly construction material.
 It is used as replacement of cement concrete.
In geopolymer concrete cement is not used
as a binding material.
 Fly ash, silica-fume, or GGBS, along with
alkali solution are used as binders.
TYPES OF GEOPOLYMER
 Slag based geopolymer
 Rock based geopolymer
 Fly ash based geopolymer
 Ferro-silicate based geopolymer
WHY GEO-POLYMER CONCRETE ?

 Reduces the demand of OPC which leads to

CO2 emission.
 Utilize waste materials from industries such
as fly ash, silica-fume ,GGBS.
 Protect water bodies from contamination due
to fly ash disposal.
 Produce a more durable infrastructure.
OBJECTIVES…
 To make a concrete without using cement
(i.e.Geopolymer concrete).
 To evaluate the optimum mix proportion of
Geo-polymer concrete with fly ash replaced
of cement and also the mix proportion of
OPC.
 To study the different Strength properties of
Geo-polymer concrete.
PROBLEM STATEMENT
 Now-a-days the global problems Associated
with us in todays world like environmental
pollution, global warming (and hence
climate change) are threats to sustainable
future of this planet.
 In oder to significantly reduce CO2 emission
by cement industry, we need an eco-binder
which partially or fully replace OPC in
concrete.
LITERATURE REVIEW…
 M.V.Krishna rao,P.Rathish Kumar :PERFORMANCE OF
FLYASH BASED GEOPOLYMER CONCRETE UNDER
AMBIENT AND OVEN CURING CONDITIONS(2019): This
paper addresses the effect of sodium hydroxide concentration and
curing type on strength and durability characteristics of low calcium
fly ash-based Geo Polymer Concrete (GPC). Test results indicate
that the workability decreased and strength improved with
increasing concentration of NaOH in Geo Polymer Concrete
specimens.
 They concluded that Workability and setting time of GPC decreases
with increase in the concentration of NaOH solution. The
compressive strength increased with the increase in the
concentration of NaOH solution in hot oven curing, with curing
temperature in the range of 60oC - 90oC.
Rakesh padakanti, Venkateswara Rao:
Study on the bond behavior of high
strength geopolymer concrete(2022)
 In this they have used Fly ash,GGBS, and silica fume
were used as binders in the study .
 They have concluded that Particle packing model
(MTM) used to optimize the aggregate proportion is
effective in developing high-strength geopolymer
concrete.
 The coarse aggregate to fine aggregate ratio is 55:45.
The required target strengths could be achieved.
A.Naghizadeh; Behaviour of fy ash
geopolymer binders under exposure to
alkaline media(2019)
 In the study, a combination of sodium silicate
and 12 M NaOH solution was used as the
alkali activator to prepare a low calcium (Class
F) fy ash-based geopolymer binder.
 Fly ash geopolymer pastes or mortars were cast
into 50 mm cubes and 25×25×285 mm prisms,
then immersed in diferent media consisting of
water or 1–3 M NaOH solutions maintained at
varied temperatures of 23, 38, and 80 °C.
Badrinarayan Rath; Performance of natural
rubber latex on calcined clay‐based glass
fber‐reinforced geopolymer concrete (2020)
 In this research geopolymer concrete along with an activator,
cement is completely replaced by calcined clay, and coarse
aggregates are completely replaced with brick aggregates.
 This will reduce the cement demand as well as carbon dioxide
emission due to cement production and save our environment
against deforestation due to mining of hills for coarse
aggregates.
 They have concluded thatUsing rubber latex up to 2% in cement
concrete increased up to 97% of slump height, 13% of
compaction factor value and decreased 28% of yield stress, 67%
of electrical resistivity at the fresh stage, and 26% of shrinkage.
Srinivasan Vediyappana; An Experimental
Investigation on Geopolymer Concrete Utilizing
Micronized Biomass Silica and GGBS (2021)
 The main objective of this laboratory
investigation was to examine the influence
of MBS inclusion in different proportions of
slag based alkali activated mortar and
concrete.
 This study justifies the utilization of
substantial quantity of industrial/agro
residue and prevents water usage / thermal
curing.
