WHAT IS VLOG?
WHAT IS
VLOG?
 A vlog is a shortened term for the phrase "video blog." It is a digital
record of ideas and information published and shared in video format.

 Vlogs can be created on various topics and niches, such as social issues,
health and wellness, lifestyle, current affairs, etc. The video of a vlog
typically comprises supporting images, texts, and other valuable
resources.
WHAT IS
VLOG?
 Vlogging can be done for many reasons; you can engage people online to
understand the message you are delivering, show your creativity,
demonstrate your knowledge and expertise on a specific topic, and many
others.
 The most successful vloggers are seen on YouTube. There are other
platforms as well, like Facebook, Instagram, and Vimeo, which host
millions of bloggers between them. TikTok is also gaining popularity for
short vlogs.
EXAMPLE
WHEN DID VLOG START?
 Vlogging started in 1989, but it was not until 2000 that vlogging got a
dramatic boost.

 Adam Kontras uploaded his first 15-second video/vlog, which showed

Adam sneaking a cat into his apartment building. That 15-second video is
what started the popular vlogging trend.

WHY PEOPLE
VLOGS?
WHY PEOPLE VLOGS?
1. To tell a story
Storytelling is the ability to create a narrative that can convey a
message. Vlogs often have a connected theme, like cooking or fashion.

2. To connect with the audience

Vlogging allows you to connect with your audience more personally.
Viewers often watch while you directly address them about your topics
in a conversational tone, often helping them feel
you're talking to them personally.
WHY PEOPLE VLOGS?
3. To improve confidence
Through vlogging, you can record yourself as you explain your topic
without the additional pressure of performing live. This can help you
identify different areas where you might adjust your tone, your use of
gestures, and emphasis as you improve your verbal communication skills.

4. Develop technical skills

Vlogging may include working with your video
technology and software. As you create more vlogs,
you might learn different lighting, cameras and
editing techniques that can increase the quality of your
videos.
TOOLS USED WHEN
VLOGGING
1. Camera
A high-quality camera can help ensure your videos are clear and
professional, improving your credibility as a vlogger and the user
experience.

2. Lighting
You might purchase specific lighting that you can set up above or behind
the camera to ensure your video is bright enough to
view what you hope to show.
TOOLS USED WHEN
VLOGGING
3. Software
You often need to edit your videos for sound, cut scenes, or adjust the
video settings once you upload a video to your device.

4. Microphone
As the main purpose of your vlog is to connect with your audience via
video, a high-quality microphone is important to have in place.
HOW TO START A VLOG?
1. Think of an interesting topic or story for your vlog/video.

2. Get vlogging equipment – tools to capture the video, like a Webcam, a

video camera, a recording device, or even your smartphone, would do
the work.
