Enlightened self-interest involves acting in ways that benefit both oneself and others, while unenlightened self-interest prioritizes one's own interests without regard for others. Anna Hazare is given as an example of enlightened self-interest, as he initiated the Lokpal Bill movement to reduce corruption for the benefit of all Indians. In contrast, Suresh Kalmadi is cited as exhibiting unenlightened self-interest through mismanagement of funds for the Commonwealth Games. Enlightened self-interest is important because it encourages cooperation and allows everyone to benefit, while avoiding potential harms from solely self-interested behavior.

The document discusses the subconscious mind and how it influences our behavior, perceptions, and beliefs. It makes three key points:
1. The subconscious mind stores memories, habits, and principles from our experiences that guide us outside of our conscious awareness. Our subconscious beliefs act as filters that shape how we perceive and respond to our environment.
2. Limiting beliefs stored in our subconscious can hold us back, while empowering beliefs allow us to achieve goals. Our beliefs directly influence our behaviors by determining which genes are expressed.
3. The subconscious mind controls many involuntary functions even when we are asleep, and can influence our dreams, perceptions of déjà vu, and potentially tap into glimpses of

The Benefit and Manner of
Asking the Right Questions
THE NOISY, CONFUSED WORLD WE LIVE IN
This book encourages you to learn something we think can change your life
for the better. That something is "critical thinking." But there is an imaginary
world that some of us inhabit where there is no need at all for critical think-
ing. In this imaginary world several conditions prevail:
1. We are each allowed the independence to make decisions about reli-
gion, politics, and what we will and will not buy or believe. Advertisers,
marketers, public relations specialists, campaign managers, and advo-
cates of various worldviews will provide us only the information that we
need to make decisions that result in building a life that we choose.
2. Anyone trying to persuade us of anything will always explain the disad-
vantages of what he or she wants us to do.
3. Any time we are confused about one of life's important questions, we
can quickly find a dependable expert, authority, or wise person. Fur-
thermore, these voices of knowledge will all agree with one another. In
short, we need not be anxious about what to do or believe because the
wise ones will have the answer. Our task is simply to locate and listen to
them.
4. Our minds are calm, engaged, reflective, and curious whenever faced
with an important choice.
We hope you realize that the world we actually live in is nothing like the
Never-Never Land, we just described.

2 Chapter 1 • The Benefit and Manner of Asking the Right Questions
In the real world, we are assaulted on all sides by others who insist that
we must do what they tell us we should do. They know best. They know
what we should wear, eat, buy, and believe. They claim to possess a truth
that we must accept. They say they want to help us. They will not leave us
alone to form our own understanding of who we should become.
As an illustration, in a 5-minute Internet search we found the following
advice with respect to the relatively simple question: Should we use more tea?
These were all found on web sites urging you to buy more tea.
• Use green tea to ease itching and swelling.
• Use strong tea as a disinfectant on cuts and bruises.
• Use strong tea to treat athlete's foot. Bathe the foot twice a day for ten
minutes for up to several weeks.
• Press rehydrated tealeaves on teeth to reduce the pain of toothache.
• Chewing rehydrated tealeaves cleanses the breath.
• Soak a towel in warm tea, and place the towel on tired eyes to refresh
them.
• Wash the face with warm tea to reduce skin rashes and pimples.
• Rinse washed hair with strong tea for shine and softness.
The people making these claims want us to change our behavior. Planning to
buy more tea?
To make matters worse, those trying to persuade us do not play fair as
they try to shape us. They tell us half-truths at best. The socialist does not
explain the dangers of a large government. The conservative does not explain

Introduction
What is Diversity? Organizations use definitions of diversity that are almost as
diverse as the subject itself, but what is clear is that the central theme of ‘valuing
everyone as individuals – as employees, customers, and clients’ extends diversity
beyond what is legislated.
Business exists in competitive and changing markets, which means that all
employees must make significant contributions to business success and add value
in every conceivable manner, but everyone is different, so organizations will need
to be able to harness individual workers’ unique differences and convert them into
competitive advantage.1 When studying organizational phenomena, many
researchers state that employers implicitly assume that employees within
an organization are homogeneous.
Diversity researchers reject this assumption. Their work focuses on
questions that arise when the workforce is acknowledged as a heterogeneous mix
of people with different backgrounds, experiences, values, and identities.2 A
challenge of this type puts a premium on value systems that are inclusive, fair
and ethical. We know from the essential characteristics of the psychological
contract that employees expect their employers to value who they are.3 This is
why effective workplace diversity is so important to enhancing business
performance and, as research evidence shows, is correlated with good people
management.4

Counselling as a method to understand your employeesJayadeva de Silva
Counseling can be used as a method to understand employees better. It allows people to discharge emotions in a healthy way rather than repressing feelings. When distressed, people need to talk through their issues with a good listener in order to re-evaluate the situation and think clearly again. Counseling helps contradict unhelpful patterns developed in childhood that prevent optimal functioning. For managers, counseling provides a developmental tool to address why talented people act less intelligently at times and to distinguish people from problematic patterns. It also explains why listening is so important and creates a safer environment for openness. Counseling should be introduced sensitively when enough trust and safety exist within an organization.
Self-knowledge is the starting point on the journey of self-development. Self-knowledge gives us a window onto our potential. It indicates where our strength lies, what things we are naturally good at and how we might combine our natural gifts with the opportunities around us. Here are some of the main ways to find out just where your potentials lie.

The four reports [values, personality, aptitude and final] are due during your final exam period. Please read the next short paragraph carefully.
During the course of this semester whenever I have covered what I needed to cover in that class period, I stop, I dismiss class and we leave, sometimes a few minutes early. The same thing is going to happen during your final period; all you will be doing is submitting your notes and your four reports. I have no intention of waiting two hours for late guy to show up. I have no idea if many of you are going to show up at all; last week a student showed up I did not recognize him. So I am going to wait no longer than 15 minutes, I am going to dismiss class and leave. Anything turned in after that is late. If your final is at 8 and you think you are going to show up at 9:45 to turn your work in, you get an F in the course.
NO LATE WORK ACCEPTED!!! Please, please, please, for everything good and holy get these papers done immediately and start to print out your notes now. One third of the printers will break when you need them, same with computers, email, and everything else. If you start them early, you give yourself a chance to deal with unforeseen tragedies, illnesses, car malfunctions, your husband pours gas on your kids and lights it, parents with brain tumors, court dates, psychotic breaks, etc. everything. Be smart, protect yourself and get these done.
PLEASE SUBMIT A HARD COPY TO ME – PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL ME YOUR REPORTS. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I have no confidence that my computer is going to live through the semester and I would hate to lose your work because my computer blew up. [the situation has improved, but I still need a hard copy from you].

Cybersecurity breaches are a growing threat in today’s interconnected digital landscape, affecting individuals, businesses, and governments alike. These breaches compromise sensitive information and erode trust in online services and systems. Understanding the causes, consequences, and prevention strategies of cybersecurity breaches is crucial to protect against these pervasive risks.
Cybersecurity breaches refer to unauthorized access, manipulation, or destruction of digital information or systems. They can occur through various means such as malware, phishing attacks, insider threats, and vulnerabilities in software or hardware. Once a breach happens, cybercriminals can exploit the compromised data for financial gain, espionage, or sabotage. Causes of breaches include software and hardware vulnerabilities, phishing attacks, insider threats, weak passwords, and a lack of security awareness.
The consequences of cybersecurity breaches are severe. Financial loss is a significant impact, as organizations face theft of funds, legal fees, and repair costs. Breaches also damage reputations, leading to a loss of trust among customers, partners, and stakeholders. Regulatory penalties are another consequence, with hefty fines imposed for non-compliance with data protection regulations. Intellectual property theft undermines innovation and competitiveness, while disruptions of critical services like healthcare and utilities impact public safety and well-being.

Social media management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
The project "Social Media Platform in Object-Oriented Modeling" aims to design
and model a robust and scalable social media platform using object-oriented
modeling principles. In the age of digital communication, social media platforms
have become indispensable for connecting people, sharing content, and fostering
online communities. However, their complex nature requires meticulous planning
and organization. This project addresses the challenge of creating a feature-rich and
user-friendly social media platform by applying key object-oriented modeling
concepts. It entails the identification and definition of essential objects such as
"User," "Post," "Comment," and "Notification," each encapsulating specific
attributes and behaviors. Relationships between these objects, such as friendships,
content interactions, and notifications, are meticulously established. The project
emphasizes encapsulation to maintain data integrity, inheritance for shared behaviors
among objects, and polymorphism for flexible content handling. Use case diagrams
depict user interactions, while sequence diagrams showcase the flow of interactions
during critical scenarios. Class diagrams provide an overarching view of the system's
architecture, including classes, attributes, and methods .By undertaking this project,
we aim to create a modular, maintainable, and user-centric social media platform that
adheres to best practices in object-oriented modeling. Such a platform will offer users
a seamless and secure online social experience while facilitating future enhancements
and adaptability to changing user needs.

Chapter 6 SELF DEVELOPMENT AND ASSESSMENT ETC

Chapter-6 Self-development and Assessment:
Self-development and Assessment:
Change, Grow, Persist, Prioritize, Read, Learn, Listen, Record, Remember, Asses, Think, Communicate,
Relate, Dream
1. Write short note on ‘change’?
Change is inevitable in life. It is a part of our life. Changes may either be positive or negative.
When we are tired of doing something we welcome a new change. When we are upset we
wait for a change of phase, we await happiness. But sometimes, when we are happy we fear
the change which may cause disappointments. It’s the way of life: whether we like it or not a
change is bound to happen. Changes keep away boredom from life. It makes this journey
interesting and adventurous.
One person can be a change catalyst, a 'transformer' in any situation, any organization. Such
an individual is yeast that can leaven an entire loaf. It requires vision, initiative, patience,
respect, persistence, courage, and faith to be a transforming leader.
Change is an important element in prospering our life because the world is constantly
changing with time & so are people around us. And for us to thrive in life we have to embrace
change. It’s not always a good thing to change but its okay to let go and change your feelings
if it is hindering your growth and outlook towards life. You can't blame the circumstances
when things go wrong. We have to accept change rather than thinking and complaining about
it.
2. Write short note on ‘Grow’
As men, we have a longing to become the best versions of our self. We realize that to live
whatever a successful life means to us, we have to be confident in the actions we’re taking.
One of the best ways to become the best versions of our self is to continue to grow as a person
We can live a better life by harnessing the energies present within us. We all can do what we want to
do, work for what we are passionate about, and even change our realities if we decide.
Here we grow by changing our elf, behaviour, how to be more positive and stay focused on goals, how
to be calm in everyday life, build strong relationships, and move forward on our path. Follow the space
to learn how to live better with science-backed ideas and inspirational personal life stories.

3 Write short note on ‘Persist’
We are complex creatures. Hope and anguish can coexist and still create something truly
amazing. Persistence is the ability to maintain action regardless of your feelings. You press on
even when you feel like quitting, until you achieve that important goal. I surprise myself every
day.
People give up too soon because they have wrong expectations of themselves and the
outcome. They expect the way to be easy, and they are surprised when they find the reality
to be the opposite. Their enthusiasm quickly melts and they lose heart.
So start your journey with the right expectation. And don’t underestimate the amount of time
required either.
Remember, there is no such thing as cheap success. Expect a hard way, not an easy one, and
you will be mentally prepared when you encounter the reality.
The size of your commitment should be proportional to the size of your desire.
You will be blown away by what you can achieve if you don’t lose hope in yourself. Einstein
persisted and stayed with problems longer to make sure he found exactly what he was looking
for. He once said “It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer.”
Persistence, has a lot to do with your success in life and business. Persistence is omnipotent.
Calvin Coolidge once said “The slogan “press on” has solved and always will solve the
problems of the human race”. Talent and genius cannot take the place of persistence.
“The value of persistence comes from a vision of the future
that’s so compelling you would give almost anything to make
it real.”
4 Write a short note on ‘Prioritize’
Individuals and businesses must prioritize their focus and pay attention to every task in their
to do list to be successful. Every growing business has constraints in terms of resources and
time. It is highly important for a person to spend his or her time on the most important areas
that can drive success.
3. BE,Sem-3, ETC
3
It is common that we panic when we tackle our tasks by priority, but it feels like everything is
important. It is difficult to skilfully juggle multiple priorities and competing responsibilities.
There are times when one has to manage workload at the office as well as the ever-growing
list of to-dos at home. Managing everything is not impossible. Below are some steps to be
taken to manage tasks better and touch upon every important aspect:
Answer the Question: Is Everything Really Important?
Even if everything on the plate is supposed to be equally important, we still need a way to
break down which ones we spend your time on, and how we slice up our time...
Work backwards
One has to consider the due dates, take into account how much effort is needed to put into
each one and how much input is needed from others and work backwards to find out what
you should be working on right now.
Ask around:
If you’re prioritizing tasks that involve other people, like your family, friends, and co-workers,
talk to them. You are working with them on and if they can lend a hand.
5 Write a short note on ‘Read and learn’
Many studies show that toddlers and pre-schoolers who are read to every day have a larger
vocabulary than those who aren’t read to at all. It turns out that reading there are many
advantages and benefits of reading.
Not only does reading enhance a child’s vocabulary, and to help they understand how to read
and write, but reading aloud to children also helps them to understand different topics about
the world and everyday life.
Reading is a vital skill in finding a good job. Many well-paying jobs require reading as a part of
job performance. There are reports and memos which must be read and responded to. Poor
reading skills increases the amount of time it takes to absorb and react in the workplace. A
person is limited in what they can accomplish without good reading and comprehension skills.
6 Write a short note on ‘Listen and communicate’
Many of us think that communication is talking - and talk us do. We interrupt, advise,
reassure, judge, analyse, criticize, argue, moralize, threaten, divert, diagnose, etc., etc. But,
good communication requires good listening as well as talking. In fact, since we have two ears
and only one mouth, listening just might be the more important skill. However, we receive
4. BE,Sem-3, ETC

almost no training in good listening and usually do not realize that really "hearing" someone
is not a passive activity.
To be a good listener, we must, first, pay attention. The remainder of this article will focus on
"attending" skills. The next article will discuss how to listen "actively" rather than passively.
A good listener uses questions sparingly because questions tend to focus the conversation on
the questioner’s perspective and concerns and can derail the focus of the speaker. Work on
asking fewer questions, and when you do, ask "open-ended" questions. Compare "Did you
call the police?" to "What did you do?" Or, "Do you feel anxious about the meeting
tomorrow?" to "How do you feel about the meeting tomorrow?" An open-ended question is
like an essay question which allows the speaker, rather than the questioner, to lead the
conversation and clarify his or her own concerns. A closed question is like a true/false
question and often suggests or narrows the agenda.
Finally, knowing when to be silent can be a powerful communication tool. Silence allows the
speaker to become aware of his or her own feelings, to explore more deeply and to proceed
at his or her own pace. Because many listeners become self-conscious with silence, they feel
the need to "break" it by talking or asking questions. Unfortunately, this usually disrupts and
derails the speaker. How can silence be handled? Pay attention to the body posture of the
speaker and "listen" to what it says to you. Try to imagine what the speaker might be feeling,
consider various ways that you might respond, and then choose the most helpful response.
7 Explain importance of record
A systematic records adds value to the daily functions of the staff. The benefits are:
Organizing information for retrieval when needed.
Protecting records that are essential to mission-critical business operations.
Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory recordkeeping requirements, thereby avoiding
costly fines or other penalties.
Reducing risks in litigations, government investigations, and the legal discovery process.
Reducing labour requirements for the creation, organization, retrieval and dissemination of
recorded information.
Minimizing storage requirements (space, equipment, and supplies) for a given quantity of
records. Destroy or delete records according to the University's records retention schedules.
Reducing the time and effort required to reconstruct vital information in the event of disaster,
theft, and other losses

8 Explain importance of assessment and think in life
Self-assessment is the process of looking at oneself in order to assess aspects that are
important to one's identity. It is one of the motives that drive self-evaluation, along with self-
verification and self-enhancement. Suicides (1993) suggests that the self-assessment motive
will prompt people to seek information to confirm their uncertain self-concept rather than
their certain self-concept and at the same time people use self-assessment to enhance their
certainty of their own self-knowledge. However, the self-assessment motive could be seen as
quite different from the other two self-evaluation motives. Unlike the other two motives
through self-assessment people are interested in the accuracy of their current self-view,
rather than improving their self-view. This makes self-assessment the only self-evaluative
motive that may cause a person's self-esteem to be damaged.
Thinking is an important mental process. It helps us to define and organise experiences, plan,
learn, reflect and create. But sometimes our thinking may for a variety of reasons become
unhelpful and this has a negative impact on our wellbeing.
Some negative types of thinking may include:
When our thinking dwells in the past to a level that it influences our ability to function in the
present;
When our thinking is constructed of language that is absolute in character and leaves little
room for imagining a different future;
When our thinking prevents us from recognising our own strengths or the strengths of others.
9 Write short note on ‘relate’
What does it mean; being able to 'relate to others'? To relate to someone is to make a
connection, to understand them or their story. Sometimes this is natural. Sometimes it
requires work.
The Importance of Relating Well to Others are Getting/ Keeping a Job, Steps to help you relate
to others, Building, friendships/ Relationships., Consider Emotions, Understand, but don't
judge , Be able to work in a team.

10 Write short note on ‘Dream’
Dreams are necessary. Without dreams, there will be no ambition to chase. There will be no
goal to reach. We will all be nothing without dreams. Not having dreams is like chasing a
traceless murder. It is like following an invisible shadow. It is a dreadful goose chase. We must
know what we want to do and follow that ambition. We can’t achieve anything in life without
goals, and for these goals, we need to dream.
Most people have dreams. Big ones or small ones. Even the most successful people had
dreams and that is what has made them what they are today. Dreaming is essential for a
human being. Without dreams, you will lose interest in life and finally hate to live life. You will
be bored and tired of the same monotonous routines of your daily life and will not even find
interest in the most exciting things. Only with dreams, will you find a purpose to live your life.
You will start working hard towards the dream and will never lose interest in life. You will
never tire and always be motivated. This is the best way to become successful.
