Objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar o efeito da ingestão de ractopamina nas concentrações 0 ppm (controle), 10 ppm, 20 ppm e 40 ppm na ração, sobre os parâmetros fisiológicos e imunológicos, por meio da análise dos parâmetros hematológicos e da concentração sérica de cortisol e lactato, em 80 tilápias do Nilo (Oreochromis niloticus) da linhagem GIFT, com peso médio de 500 gramas, distribuídas aleatoriamente em 16 caixas d'água, com capacidade para 500 litros, com a densidade de 5 animais. Retirando-se ao dia 0 1 animal de cada caixa e cada 20 dias, 2 peixes por caixa, totalizando 8 peixes de cada tratamento. Coletaram-se amostras de sangue para dosagem de cortisol, lactato e parâmetros hematológicos (contagem de hemácias, leucócitos, proteínas totais - PPT, volume globular – VG, hemoglobina. Flooded areas of reservoirs and artificial lakes have been increasingly used for fish production; however, the waste generated by aquaculture has become a concern for the sustainable development of this activity. One of the main strategies adopted by management and regulatory agencies is the use of hydrodynamic models that calculate the carrying or nutrient load capacity of a particular water body and the effect of fish farming. These models are precise in the development of optimal strategies for feeding and waste calculation. This review paper addresses this topic and describes the methodology developed for the analysis and simulation of the carrying capacity for fish production, based on the integration of the Fish‑PrFEQ nutritional bioenergetic model and the hydrodynamic model of Dillon & Rigler. The facultative air breathing armoured catfishes of the Amazon drainage basin exhibit exceptional cardiac tolerance to anoxia and reoxygenation (Bailey et al., 1999). This observation is surprising, since air breathing can contribute up to 5 70 % of arterial O2 content during hypoxia (Val, 1995), uncoupling environmental and systemic oxygen debt (Brauner et al., 1995). Previous studies suggest that anaerobic heart function in these fish may be preserved by activation of ATP-sensitive K+ channels (MacCormack, T.J., Treberg, J., Almeida-Val, V.M.F., Val., A.L. and Driedzic, W.R., submitted for publication) and a high glycolytic capacity. The use of MS-222 as an anesthetic for matrinxã juveniles was investigated. At dosage of 100 mg/L or lower fish did not achieve a complete anesthesia state. At 150 mg/L, MS-222 induced anesthesia within 36 seconds and recovered from a 10 minutes period of anesthesia within 5.2 min. Higher concentrations (200, 250 and 300 mg/L) anesthetized fish in lesser times, with the offset of mortality (16.7 and 3 3 . 3 % ) at the 200 and 300 mg/L MS-222 doses, respectively. The only significant differences observed in the hematological parameters, was for the glucose values in fish anesthetized with 250 and 300 mg/L. The objective of this work was to determine the apparent digestibility of nutrients and energy of diets for pirarucu (Arapaima gigas) juveniles. Eight experimental diets containing four energy:protein ratios (11, 10.1, 9, 8 kcal digestible energy per gram of crude protein) and two non-protein energy sources (soybean oil and poultry fat) were tested in a 4x2 factorial scheme, in triplicates. Two hundred and forty pirarucu juveniles weighting 96.8±2.3 g were distributed in 24 cylindrical-conical fiberglass tanks, adapted for feces collection (modified Guelph system). Fish were fed twice a day to apparent satiation, with experimental diets containing 0.5% of chromium oxide as inert marker in order to determine the apparent digestibility coefficients. The Brazilian option for an energetic matrix based on hydro-electrical plants benefitted society in a general way. However, it also caused local social and regional impacts due to the flooding of fertile lands, population displacements, impact on fishing resources and others. Contrastingly to the above negative aspects, aquiculture in public waters, specifically in hydroelectric reservoirs, favored these populations and the family agricultural or extractive units within the context of a sustainable and organized use of the water bodies by fish production. This research was carried out to compare the effect of phytase on performance, and in the incorporation of phosphorus in tanks with tambaqui. Four isoproteic (30%) and isocaloric diets were used: one standard (control), without phytase supplementation, and other three with different phytase levels (1,000, 1,500 and 2,000 uf kg-1), with three replication each diet, during 45 days. The results demonstrated that the use of phytase in diets had no effect on weight gain, feed conversion and fish survival, but can reduce fish phosphorus excretion by 21%, minimizing the impacts caused by this nutrient.

This research was aimed at evaluating the effect of feeding rates on productivity and blood glucose levels, triglycerides and total plasma proteins of tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) reared in cages. Tambaqui juveniles were reared during 150 days fed at 1, 3 and 5% of body weight per day allocated with two meals, six days a week. The feeding rates did not show any effects on the condition factor and survival. Weight gain and production of fish that were fed at 3 and 5% were significantly higher than the fish that received 1% of body weight per day. Although, feed conversion was significantly higher at the ratio of 1% of body weight per day, and the values of feed conversion obtained at the ratios of 3 and 5% per se make the culture of tambaqui unprofitable. No alterations were observed in the levels of blood glucose, triglycerides and total plasma protein of tambaqui from the different treatments. The option for a national energy grid grounded in hydroelectric brought benefits to Brazilian society across the board, but also promoted local and regional social impacts as a result of the flooding of fertile land, the displacement of coastal communities, impact on fisheries resources, among others. In contrast to the negative aspects, aquaculture in public water, especially in reservoirs, allows there turn of these populations and also of the farms in agriculture or extraction to take up sustainable and ordered these ponds producing fish. Against this backdrop, this article discusses the elements necessary for potencialization this activity with the focus on ananalytical model of supply chain elements that subsidize the production of fish in based family.
