Tourism is one of the leading sectors based on other people's views and comments found on the Internet. Prior to deciding where they would like to go, individuals obtain information about the travel agencies they will use, the hotels they will stay at and the regions they would like to visit, plus the views and experiences of others in terms of these issues, which are largely shared via social media environments. Accordingly, it has become a necessity for establishments to follow the main social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and so on, and develop their goods and services in line with the comments shared on these platforms. In this study, how national and international airline companies implement the 4Ps of marketing (product, price, place, promotion) in social media environments is investigated through examples and analysed through data obtained via interviews.

Walls among the blocks of such structures have now become more transparent and permeable. This situation has accelerated and strengthened the interaction process among relevant structures. Just as the case when any changes witnessed in any given community can now more quickly and effectively reach other groups via news, social reactions, etc., global companies can equally experience the problems and crises emerging in their international agencies and franchisees in their central structures and systems. This is not only seen as a problem in our country, but in the international platform as well. In 21. century information technology is developing day by day. Especially information communication technology are used for sharing feelings and informations by people.
Therefore information communication technologies (ICT) are so important for humanity. The major qualification of information communication technologies, especially of mobile ones, is making life easier that all information can be rapidly obtained through different sources. Thanks to the 3G technology, online newspapers have reached readers by mobile devices. In addition, divergent screen sizes, operating capacities, Internet connection speeds, information display styles and interface designs of mobile devices influence the way news is perceived by readers.
This dissertation has examined the compatibility of the web pages of newspapers with mobile devices in terms of interaction design. To this end, new communication environments, transformation of communication and interaction design in mobile publishing have been analyzed. In the research section of the study, the experiments made about this issue have been reviewed. Also, mobile communication experts from Hürriyet, Milliyet and Sabah have been interviewed. A survey designed about this issue was published on the Internet. Last of all, in order to observe users’ individual experiences with mobile devices, the method of experimental design was implemented with a group of participants. Consequently, the standardization that should be applied to mobile interface design has been specified.

There are various ways that individuals benefit from social media tools, such as staying in touch with friends,
families and sharing thoughts about various issues with friends and other people, through which they become
individual journalists. The most important and conspicuous use of them is for social gatherings as a reflection to
natural disasters, through which individuals become more concerned about all unwanted tragic incidents
regardless of where they take place in the world.
In this study the progressive role of social media tools in human life, their organization facilities providing to
their users, their potentials to increase public awareness, their contributions to non-governmental actions and
most strikingly their uniqueness of saving lives through enabling users to stay in contact even under the rubble
are aimed to divulge through tragic experiences of two earthquakes happened in Turkey. Consequently, social
media usage related news of Turkish citizens will be analyzed through those unfortunate earthquakes happened
in Gölcük in 1999 and in Erci􀃳 in 2011. Examining those tragic events, evolution of social media usage among
individuals and its effectiveness to alert and respond to such events will be discussed through discourse analysis
of related news published on Hürriyet, Milliyet, Yeni􀃳afak online newspapers and social media posts published
within the internet in the first week of the earthquakes, which subsumes from 18th. of August until 24th. of
August, 1999 for Gölcük Earthquake and from 24th. of October until 30th. of October, 2011 for Erci􀃳
Earthquake.

The emergence of social media as a virtual system for advertising and customer management developed as user-generated content forcibly reshaped corporate communications. Corporations began using these virtual media to further develop their customer relationship management scheme. Customer relationship management has in turn allowed those corporations which make use of social media to transmit information related to the services of corporations directly to their customers through the Internet, while at the same time finding out their customers’ positive or negative views of their business. This study aims to determine how hotels in Turkey benefit from social media within the scope of customer relationship development. Therefore, the hotel reviews in Trip Advisor (TA) have been viewed as a communication channel within the scope of the study, which is a phenomenon somewhat unique in the tourism sector, since TA is one of the most widely used international social networks by travelers. It was analyzed whether the hotels took their reviews in TA into consideration when developing their web sites. The study employs qualitative methods such as context analysis and in-depth interviews with hotel management were carried out. The hotels selected for the study were the most reviewed hotels in Turkey, according to the data on TA.  Between December 2011 and December 2013, the reviews on these hotels and the hotels’ web sites were analyzed contextually and results determined to what extent hotels benefit from social media when developing their web sites. The results have been supported by in-depth interviews with the hotels’ management. The results of this study shown that although a majority of hotel administrations are aware of the importance of communicating with their customers through social media, they have not used TA as a source of data to develop their web sites in the context of customer relationship management.

The developments in communication technologies have brought
forward new approaches regarding both the direction and
conceptualization of communication. In parallel with these developments,
the orientation of media as a whole takes form under the category of “new
media”. New media differs from traditional media with its structure of
multimedia based on a digital-encoding system. Correlatively,
“interactivity” as one of the most important features of new media enables
media to spread throughout the society and become omnipresent within
the society. Particularly after internet becomes available by means of
almost all communication tools, the impact of media upon social, political
and economic fields grows day by day. No doubt, this fact requires more
discussions, studies and conversations regarding new media.
As Gelisim University, this very necessity is the most important
factor that led us to organize the First International New Media
Conference. Given the fact that the media is omnipresent within all
segments of society, our goal is to reflect various approaches regarding
different aspects of the issue rather than focusing on only one aspect. In
accordance with this goal, our eminent scholars’ approaches on new media
are submitted to our conference.
Ranging from the embodiment of new media as a marketing strategy,
to the role of social media in shaping social movements and the forms of
presence of rituals on new media, lots of topics are discussed in The First
International New Media Conference, which is stimulating and eye-opening
in our opinion. As Gelisim University, we attach importance to the field of
new media and future developments; and highlight the necessity to deal
with this topic in academic World more thoroughly. In the hope that
