Records which are produced in the course of school’s daily life as a source of institutional information are not only one of the most significant part of communication and administration at schools but also a very important guide for local and national education planning. In order to manage the records by an efficient records management system, it is inevitable to analyze the present condition of records processes in all departments of the school, the lacking points and requirements in the light of the national and international procedures which is a guide for records management. In the context of the study some analysis techniques and questionnaire have been applied to describe the records management conditions and problems. Kurumsal bilginin kaynağı olarak okulların doğal faaliyetleri sonucunda oluşan belgeler, okullardaki yönetim ve iletişim faaliyetlerinin önemli bir unsuru olmanın yanı sıra eğitim planlamasında bölgesel ve hatta ulusal boyutlarda yol gösterici bilgi kaynağı konumundadırlar. Okullardaki belgeleri etkin bir belge yönetimi programı ile yönetebilmek için, okulun tüm birimlerindeki belge yönetimi ile ilgili mevcut durumun, sorunların ve beklentilerin analiz edilmesi, ayrıca bağlı olunan yasal çevrenin ve ilgili alanda geliştirilen yol gösterici nitelikteki ulusal ve uluslararası düzenlemelerin de değerlendirilmesi gerekli görülmektedir. Records which are produced in the course of school’s daily life as a source of institutional information are not only one of the most significant part of communication and administration at schools but they are also a very important guide for local and national education planning. In order to manage the records by an efficient records management system, it is inevitable to analyze the present condition of records processes in all departments of the school,in the light of the national and international procedures. In the context of the study, national and international conditions that influence the records processes have been analyzed. In that context the element of the records management programs that would be developed for school environment has been described.
