Özet Fiziksel, zihinsel ve sosyal açıdan farklı anlamlar taşıyan sınır kavramı, çeşitli disiplinlerin ilgi alanını oluşturmaktadır. Kentsel sınırlar, doğrusal olarak algılanan, kentsel bölgeleri ve mekanları birbirinden ayıran, doğal ya da insan eliyle üretilmiş kentsel bileşenlerdir. Bu çalışmada kentsel sınır kavramı mimarlık disiplini bakış açısıyla ele alınmıştır. Bu çerçevede, Balıkesir İstasyon Bölgesinin Balıkesir kent merkezinde oluşturduğu sınırlar ve bu sınırların kentle etkileşimleri incelenmiştir. Balıkesir İstasyon Bölgesi, kent parçalarını fiziksel, işlevsel ve sosyal olarak ayıran doğrusal bir çizgi ve dolayısıyla kentsel sürekliliği kesintiye uğratan bir sınır olarak ele alınmıştır. Bölgenin, etrafını kuşatan caddeler, kamu yapıları, rekreasyon ve otopark alanları, Çay deresi ve sanayi bölgesi ile sınırlanmakta olduğu görülmüştür. Çalışma kapsamında bölge ve yakın çevresindeki çok katmanlı sınırlar sisteminin kentle fiziksel/geometrik etkileşimleri Kevin Lynch (1960) ve işlevsel etkileşimleri Jane Jacobs'ın (2011) bakış açıları ile saptanmıştır. Bu alanda yapılacak yeni bir düzenlemenin kente fiziksel, işlevsel ve sosyal yönden önemli katkılar sağlayacağı sonucuna varılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonunda, bölgeyi kent ile bütünleştirmeyi sağlayacak tasarım önerileri, arazi kullanım kararları ve altyapı kararları sıralanmıştır. Söz konusu kararlar alanın potansiyellerinin keşfi amacıyla yapılan çalışmanın sonuç bölümünde vurgulanmıştır. Calismada referans noktalari kaldirimlar ve rampalar, yaya yollari, bina girisleri, toplu tasima duraklari, otoparklar, isaret ve isaretlemeler ve yaya gecitleri TS 12576 sayili Şehir Ici Yollar - Ozurlu ve Yaslilar icin Sokak, Cadde, Meydan ve Yollarda Yapisal Onlemler ve Isaretlemelerin Tasarim Kurallari’na gore incelenmis ve uygunluk duzeyleri saptanmistir. Ulasilamayan faaliyetlerin engelli veya engelsiz bireylere fayda saglamayacagindan yola cikilarak, bu faaliyetleri ulasilabilir yapmak amaclanmistir. Boylece engelli bireylerin yerleske yasamina katilimi, kamusal hizmetlerden yararlanabilmeleri ve diger bireylerle ayni ortamlarda benzer aktiviteleri paylasabilmeleri saglanacaktir.

Purpose Presently, there are two main classification of architectural courses in the curriculum: lecture courses and design studios. Owing to the duality between design studios and lecture courses, architectural education includes a highly stressful learning environment. In addition to this dualism, architecture students also cope with their lives in universities and different types of stressors similar to all university students. Therefore, this study aims to determine the critical stress factors that affect architecture students studying in Turkey. Design/methodology/approach The reasons for a stressful architecture learning environment were examined using a questionnaire distributed among architecture students, and face-to-face surveys were conducted. Construction projects located in the Gaza Strip, Palestine suffer from many problems and complex issues. Consequently, the objective of this paper is to identify the factors affecting the performance of local construction projects; and to elicit perceptions of their relative importance. A comprehensive literature review was deployed to generate a set of factors believed to affect project performance. A total of 120 questionnaires were distributed to 3 key groups of project participants; namely owners, consultants and contractors. The survey findings indicate that all 3 groups agree that the most important factors affecting project performance are: delays because of borders/roads closure leading to materials shortage; unavailability of resources; low level of project leadership skills; escalation of material prices; unavailability of highly experienced and qualified personnel; and poor quality of available equipment and raw materials.
