History

The relationship between Islamism and the Indonesian economic system is a relatively recent inquiry. In the last decade, a body of literature has examined aspects and influences of Islamic economics in economics and history. However, some other elements in the history of Islamic economics are still understudied, especially in the context of Indonesia under New Order authoritarianism. In particular, models and ideas advocated of Islamic economic movement resonated with anti-dictatorship ideas and opposition of Indonesian Islamists. This paper therefore aims to investigate the relationship between Islamic economics and Indonesian authoritarianism by analyzing how Indonesian Muslim organizations strategically use Islamic economics and Islamic economic values to fight against dictatorship. This study uses historical methods with insights from economics and political science concerning the relationship between authoritarianism, social movements, and the economy. This article contributes to addressing the gap in analyzing how Islamic organizations in Indonesia responded politically and socially to economic dynamics during authoritarianism and regime transition. It also examines how the notion of Islamic economics was used strategically to challenge the neoliberal-capitalist orientation of the New Order dictatorship. Insights from this study will allow us to understand the changing strategies, tactics, objectives, and modes of Islamists' opposition against the dictatorship.

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimana sistem keamanan yang diorganisasi secara informal bekerja di Jawa Timur, dan menjadi bagian tidak terpisahkan dari sejarah panjang Indonesia pascakolonial. Artikel ini menggunakan metode sejarah yang terdiri atas heuristik, kritik, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Tulisan tentang sistem keamanan swakarsa sebenarnya telah disinggung oleh beberapa peneliti, akan tetapi pembahasan yang secara lebih khusus mengeksplorasi peristiwa di Jawa Timur masih kurang. Artikel ini menunjukkan bahwa sistem keamanan swakarsa menjadi bukti bahwa masyarakat Indonesia memberlakukan sistem yang secara normatif tidak hanya tergantung kepada hukum negara yang positif dan detail, melainkan juga kesepakatan kesepakatan informal antarmasyarakat dan aparatur negara untuk membuat situasi masyarakat lebih kondusif. Sejarah dipercaya menceritakan sesuatu yang telah terjadi, empirik, dapat diterima dengan akal sehat dan panca indera manusia. Sejarah menarasikan semangat manusia untuk maju dan mewakili keteladanan. Dengan cara berpikir demikian, sejarah rentan menggiring seseorang menolak mitos, legenda, dan bahkan lukisan dan karya sastra sebagai lambang dari peradaban yang menyiratkan hal transedental. Setan, hantu, tuyul atau makhluk yang dinobatkan gaib lain lalu divonis tidak layak menjadi diskursus abadi peradaban.

Selama tiga hari sejak 5 Juli dan berakhir hari Direktorat Jenderal Sejarah dan Purbakala Kementerian Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata (Kemenbudpar) menggelar Konferensi Nasional Sejarah IX dan Kongres Masyarakat Sejarawan Indonesia (MSI). Seratus makalah disajikan. Acara itu pun dihadiri sekitar 200 ilmuwan. Berbeda dengan konferensi sebelumnya, wacana nasionalisme dalam ilmu sejarah kali ini tampak lebih ditekankan. Sederet tantangan menanti kegiatan yang bertema Menggali Kearifan Sejarah sebagai Upaya Peneguhan Karakter Bangsa tersebut.

The Palestinian-Israeli territorial claim has become one of the most complicated in
the history of the Middle East and the World. Each perspective has arguments and
data that impact world geopolitical discourse. However, political science often
cannot capture this diversity, so it is trapped in shallow justifications. Many histo-
rians, even sharing the same breath, are reluctant to accept a different paradigm and
exacerbate the situation critically. In addition, mass media makes readers more fa-
natical with the justifications of ideological historians for decades. As a result, the
Arab and Jewish bloc has strengthened the justification of nationalism, racism, co-
lonialism, and Zionism for dozens century. It drags the world into a maelstrom of
sorrow and anger. Unlike other countries that have experienced ethnic cleansing,
which has been "solved" by writing history (See in India between Hindus, Mus-
lims, and Singh or about the Rohingya in Myanmar, Uyghurs in China), Palestine
continues to sink into the complexities of life.

The impact of the Syrian war left many significant problems for various parties,
including academics and researchers. Even though the war has ended, several
studies are still trying to detail the causes and predict the country's future, which is
one of the keys to stability in the Middle East. However, the studies presented have
not provided the essential substance to understand the complexity of the Syrian
war, especially regarding differences in understanding and territorial perceptions
rooted around Syria. Emma Lundgren Jörum's book provides answers by exploring
and analyzing "change, consistency, similarity, and difference in Syrian policy
towards Lebanon, Hatay, and the Golan Heights over time." (p. 2). More than that,
by making history an auxiliary science, this book presents a sharp interpretation
related to geopolitics, society, military, and economy involving several
perspectives from other Middle Eastern countries. The text of this book is derived
from a dissertation at Uppsala University in 2011, when the war was not over.
Emma seems to agree that tracing history's comprehensive explanation will help
predict Syria's future. Therefore, historical grudge narratives also help analyze the
causes of the war and understand the complexities of Syria's past and the future

Indonesia has a promising zakat potential; however, the amount of zakat payments is low. The primary objective of this study is to examine what factors influence an individuals intention to pay zakat. This research integrates individual factors, religiosity factors, and demographics factors. About 300 questionnaires were distributed to the respondents in a Muslim-majority area (i.e. Surakarta City), and 223 cases were deemed usable. The data have been analysed using structural equation modelling. This paper finds that attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behaviour control positively affect the intention to pay zakat. Furthermore, religiosity factors and demographic factors also positively affect the intention to pay zakat except for the Islamic education background variable. The concept of justice is still relevant for debate, involving two political and legal perspectives. However, the two met in the context of resolving election disputes. Namely the election justice mechanism to resolve all forms of election disputes. This study will focus on resolving election result disputes, the 2020 Regional Head Election Results Dispute. John Rawls is a philosopher and political theorist who strongly influenced the tradition of justice theory. The concept of justice is offered from criticism of utilitarianism and intuitionism. Justice as fairness is a concept of justice that is procedurally fair but also justice that benefits as well as opportunities that are just (equal).
