    The 28th ICDE World Conference on Online Learning, Dublin, Ireland, 3-7 November 2019Globally, higher education is facing the challenges of a growing and diverse student body and the potential of digital technologies to transform their learning. How digitally fluent educators work to harness technology enhanced learning (TEL) is a defining factor in this. This paper presents an analysis of the power and possibilities of digital fluency. It draws on innovation theory (relating to diffusion of innovations and to acceptance and use of technology), and also on understandings of institutional culture – conceptualised as communities and landscapes of professional practice. It is set against recent doctoral work, comprising a thematic analysis of semi-structured interviews with key, digitally fluent academics in Ireland and of a national (Ireland) policy document; the Digital Roadmap.     This report sets out the findings from a research project funded by the Standing Conference on Teacher Education North and South (SCoTENS), under the terms of its seed-funding small research projects scheme. The case studies reported here were undertaken in two schools, one in the Republic of Ireland and one in Northern Ireland. Similar case study reports have been prepared for schools in the USA, Australia, England and Portugal under other funding and organisational arrangements. It should be noted from the outset, that there is no intention to compare the schools from these different jurisdictions. Such a small sample could never fully represent the ‘typical’ in such complex education systems. However, although differing in scope and approach, there is a clear focus in both case studies on trying to determine the value that schools place on the role and integration of educational technologies in learning and teaching. The primary purpose of the case studies therefore was to develop an innovative method of assessing this value

    Kertas ini membincangkan pengalaman menyiapkan disertasi prasiswazah dalam Pengajian Pendidikan dari perspektif pelajar dan penyelia. Penyelidikan yang dilaporkan dalam kertas ini telah dijalankan oleh dua orang siswazah Kolej Homerton, Cambridge dan penyelia kedua-dua siswazah berkenaan pada tahun akhir disertasi. Perbincangan merangkumi proses disertasi, iaitu dari pemilihan topik disertasi hingga ke peringkat penyerahannya, yang juga meliputi alasan mengapa pelajar membuat pemilihan berkenaan, jangkaan terhadap perkara yang berbangkit di an tara pelajar dan penyelia, hal yang berkaitan dengan kekecewaan dan hasil daripada pengalaman tersebut. Fungsi disertasi dalam pendidikan profesyenal guru di Kolej Homerton juga dijelaskan; terutama tentang kemungkinan peranan disertasi untuk menggalakkan fikiran kritis bagi jangka panjan
