The hotel industry is one of the sectors that is heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Compensating for this lost revenue requires understanding which aspects of guests’ priorities have changed, including their feelings about sustainable practices. Drawing from an online survey with 250 adults who were at least 18 years of age, described themselves as familiar with sustainable practices, and stated they had stayed in a hotel both before and during the pandemic, this study finds that the pandemic had a significant impact on their attitudes towards sustainable practices. Although they believe that hotels’ adopted protocols are adequate to protect them from COVID-19, they do not intend to adopt sustainable practices in the pandemic era.

Purpose This study aims to examine the individual and contextual predictors of managerial attitudes toward employees with chronic depression (EwCD) in the hospitality and tourism field, the relationship between managerial attitudes toward EwCD and levels of organizational citizenship behavior, and the mediating role of personality in this relationship. Design/methodology/approach Empirical data were collected through an online survey of 305 managers working in the hospitality and tourism industry in the USA. SmartPLS 3 software was used to conduct a partial least squares-structural equation modeling analysis. Findings Organizational and individual characteristics of managers, such as pressure to be productive in the workplace, previous experience with depression, levels of anxiety and personality characteristics, are strong predictors of attitudes toward employees with depression. Personality mediates the effect of managers’ attitudes toward organizational citizenship behavior. Prac...

Knowledge sharing is one of the most important elements in organizations' knowledge management initiatives. This paper examines the influence of the reward system on knowledge sharing behavior with two dimensions-explicit and implicit. Using regression analysis with data from 110 lectures at top universities in Iran, ranked by the Ministry of Higher Education in 2009, the results show a significant relationship between reward system and knowledge sharing. For explicit knowledge sharing, intrinsic reward (β = .457, p< .01) is statistically significant and positively associated with explicit knowledge sharing, whereas extrinsic reward (β =-.185, p< .01) is statistically significant but shows negative association with explicit knowledge sharing. Intrinsic reward (β = .344, p< .01) is statistically significant and positively associated with implicit knowledge sharing, whereas extrinsic reward (β =-.210, p< .01) is also statistically significant but shows negative associa...

Data from previous Research Administrators Stress Perception Surveys (RASPerS) showed perceived workplace stress (PWS), poor health behavior, and work-life balance are concerns for research administrators as an occupational group. 2007 RASPerS data indicated an association between PWS with both work-life balance and poor health behavior. The 2010 RASPerS expanded upon the 2007 study, showing that extremely high levels of PWS had increased. The 2010 RASPerS data continued to show statistically significant associations between high levels of PWS with work-life balance and poor health behaviors. The 2015 RASPerS continued this study to determine if the 2010 increase in high PWS was a spike, or an indication of an upward trend. The 2015 RASPerS also continued the investigation of associations between high PWS with work-life balance and poor health behaviors. Variables used to measure work-life balance were self-report of work interfering with home and family obligations and routinely wo...

K-12 education in the USA has seen a continuous increase in the amount of standardized testing and has led many in the field to question how these tests are affecting students, teachers, and schools. This research study stems from these questions, and was designed to explore the results of a social studies standardized test, specifically, the Florida US History End-of-Course assessment from 2012-2016. Analyzing population data for eleventh grade students and countywide proficiency rates during those years, we use regression analysis and descriptive statistics to identify emerging trends using mean proficiency percentages when accounting for race, gender, and socioeconomic status. Initial findings indicated disparity within each subgroup (R2 = .52 (2012-13), .559 (2013-14) & .579 (2014-15), 495 (2015-2016)). Following an analysis of the results, the conclusion and implications discuss the influence of standardized testing in United States history education.

this rapidly changing world towards a "Knowledge based economy", knowledge is gradually being considered as the most important key driver of this economy. Effective Knowledge management program that include acquire, use, and leverage within the organization will help the success of economies in the future. However, most organizations attempt to focus on systems and tools, rather than on the critical part which is knowledge sharing within the organization. Knowledge sharing is vital in university because the majority of the employees are knowledge workers. This is a conceptual study on the enablers of knowledge sharing based on the soci- technical theory with a view to suggest how the theory can be applied to improve higher education system. The role of knowledge delivery personnel has to be emphasized in addition to technology. Socio-technical approach are studied which recognize interaction between social and technologies. This paper studies to identify the major problems...

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of the dining experience including food quality, service quality, convenience and ambiance on overall satisfaction and customers’ intention to revisit in quick service restaurants (QSRs). In addition, the mediating effects of overall satisfaction between dining experience dimensions and customer intention to revisit have been investigated in this study. Design/methodology/approach Data were collected online from 278 participants in the USA and analyzed using partial least square structure equation modeling (SmartPLS). Findings Food quality, service quality and convenience are strong predictors of both overall satisfaction and intention to revisit and recommend QSRs. However, ambiance did not directly influence the customer overall satisfaction in a QSR setting, Also, overall satisfaction did not mediate the relationship between the dining experience attributes and future intention to revisit and recommend QSRs. The researchers employed a confirmatory tetrad analysis (CTA) using partial least squares–structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with Outcome Questionnaire–45.2 (OQ-45) data, examining the measurement model of the OQ-45 scores with a sample of male adult clients ( N = 1,558) receiving individual therapy at a university-based community counseling and research center (UBCCRC). Using CTA-PLS, this study examined the reflective and formative nature of each of the OQ-45 items and dimensions. These results identified the innovative second-order formative–formative three-factor model as a best alternative measurement model to represent and calculate the scores of OQ-45 scale.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the implementation of a nutrition module and activities ( Go, Slow, Whoa) in a literacy environment through an active learning approach. Second graders (N = 85) from diverse socioeconomic status (SES) areas completed the 12-week program. The participants’ perceptions of healthy food choices were measured both pre- and post-intervention. Students met for 30 minutes twice a week, to complete 5-lessons from a Coordinated Approach to Child Health ( CATCH) nutrition module and activities ( Go, Slow, Whoa). Measures were taken both pre- and post-intervention ( Food Fury Quiz) to distinguishing between healthy and unhealthy foods (images). There was a statistically significant improvement ( t = 12.16, df =84, P = .000) from pretest ( M = 19.06, SD = 3.13) and posttest ( M = 23.34, SD = 0.48) scores. Administering a healthy food choice curriculum through literacy and active learning provides an alternative approach to improving health knowledge a...

Abstract: Problem statement: The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of two key factors (intrinsic reward and leadership style) of knowledge sharing behavior among academician in Iran. Approach: Primary data are collected via a questionnaire, which was adapted from previous literature. Data, which were collected from lecturers in the 10 of the best university from Tehran, Shiraz, Mashahd and Esfehan. Results: The results showed that an R² value of 0.191 indicating about 19. % of the variation in behavior to share can be explained by Leadership style and Reward system. The model is significant (F = 8.796, p< 0.01). Leadership style mentor was positively related to knowledge sharing behavior (β = 0.326, p< 0.01) and leadership style facilitator was not related to knowledge sharing behavior and so was Intrinsic Reward (β = 0.283, p< 0.01). The results of the study show that reward system, leadership style (mentor) are the two key factors which influencing the knowl...
