The study aims to find out the level of stress faced by the public sector bank employees in Coimbatore district. Various factors like environmental stress, familial and relationship stress, work stress and social stress have been analyzed for this purpose. The main objective of this study is to examine the relationship between the socio economic status and stress level. Primary data was collected using field survey method and personal interview technique. A sample size of 750 has been taken. Chi square test and Multiple regression analysis have been used and the inference has been given in detail. From this study it is found that there is a close relationship between the age of the respondents, gender, qualification, income and dependents of the respondents and the level of stress. It is also found that age, nativity, family members, monthly income, marital status and working experience positively influence the level of stress.

The modern working life has to do job related work speedily and without maintaining, considering or balance in physical and psychological status. Modern world has theme to address various occupations along with the situation of stress. Employee's stress is a normal part of working life and workers have to face and cope with it. The aim of this research study is to identify the job-related stress and it's causing factors in public sector banks through an empirical study of employees. The result of job related stress is a deviation from the existing psychological and physical condition of employee's life. Based on this situation of employee's life is indicated as research problem of public sector banks. According to the findings of this research study, job-related stress factors of employees are correlated and influenced to their stress significantly. Employees stress is an important issue to be addressed to improve the performance of public sector banks in India. The study revealed that the public sector banks have accountability to reduce the level of stress of their employees.
Banking has become one of the highly competitive sectors in India. Since the beginning of this decade, banking organizations have been facing greater challenges in terms of technological revolution, service diversification and global banking. Stress is unavoidable on the part of the employees as the systems, procedures; techniques are getting complicated with the use of advance technology. Every employee cannot cope with such rapid changes taking place in the job. This may raise the stress of employees. The present research paper finds the reasons of stress among the bank employees and the measures taken by employees to cope the stress generated at workplace. It was found that a large number of employees in banks remained stressed. Majority of the employees tried to find solution to relieve them from stress. The paper suggests measures to overcome stress that affects their physical and mental health.
Extreme stress results in marked changes in the person's behavior, attitude, motivations and cognition that there are inevitable consequences for the people with whom they inter act such persons usually affect those around them by virtue of their inactivity and negativism, rather than by deviant or disruptive activity. The purpose of the study is to find out the level of occupational stress among different positions held by bank employees. This is a primary and secondary data based conceptual study. This study is based on the Convenience sampling as a sample. The sample size which is taken form 100 banks employees. The result of the study find out on the basis of standardized questionnaire and the tools are used in this study Paired Samples Statistics, Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Mean Scores. The finding of the present study is the level of stress among different position held by employees. For the study whole designations of the bank employees are divided into three levels i.e. top level employees, middle level employees and lower level employees.

In the era of globalization where there is high competition, challenges, urbanization banks have to make rapid changes then as a response of which they have to make effort to increase their efficiency. Stress refers to the strain appear the conflict between our external environment and us, leading to emotional and physical pressure. Everyone in their working atmosphere is exposed to tension and anxiety as they get through the duties assigned to them. This paper seeks to determine the impact of various constituents of occupational work stress on the employees of banking sector. The present study is confined only to State Bank of India, main branch, Tiruchirappalli. A sample of 250 employees was considered. Random convenient sampling was used. It was found from the results because of long time working hours, role of conflict and political pressure there is high degree of occupational work stress amongst the private and public sector bank employees.

The purpose of presented study is to assess the relation between occupational stress and job satisfaction in public sector banks and private sector banks in Ernakulam region. A sample of 100 bank employees, (50 from 2 private banks and 50 from 2 public sector banks) in Ernakulum region were selected. Job satisfaction scale and occupational stress index were used as tools for data collection. The collected data was analyzed using various statistical methods. Descriptive statistics like mean, standard deviation, etc was used to get base line information of the data. In order to test the significance of the difference between two groups, t-test was employed. Besides that, Pearson Correlation was used to identify relationship between the two or more variables. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was employed to find out the significant difference between more than two groups. From the analysis investigator concluded that occupational stress is negatively related with job satisfaction in both private sector and public sector employees. The further analysis showed that there is no significant difference in job satisfaction levels and occupational stress in public sector and private bank employees. When compared the variables with demographic variables it shows occupational stress has no relation with age, salary, no of dependents, whereas high stress is found in male, un married and less experienced employees. Job satisfaction has no relation with no of dependent, more satisfied employees are 30-50 years aged, female, high salaried, experience from 6-10 years employees. So by this conclusion noting occupational stress is cause of low job satisfaction among employees organizations need to reduce stress levels so that employee satisfaction increases which results in low turnover, increased performance can be obtained and organization goal can be met. Stress is described as a positive condition or a negative condition that can have an impact on a person's wellbeing. Stress is the response of the body to a stressor such as an environmental condition or a stimulus. Robbins (2003) reported that an opportunity, demand, constraint threat or challenge can create stress for an individual when the event is uncertain and important. Factors relating to the environment the organization and the individual can also trigger stress (Robbins and Judge, 2007).
