The potential of firms to thrive depends on their ability to be creative and robust. In terms of management and entrepreneurship, emotional intelligence is found to be a significant subject. In entrepreneurial research the role of emotional intelligence in facilitating entrepreneurial creativity has yet to be explored. This experimental research explores SME entrepreneurs in Coimbatore District's emotional intelligence, creativity and market growth. 65 SME entrepreneurs are included in the research. The findings demonstrate strong emotional intelligence that can promote creativity and contribute to market growth. It seems that the most important dimensions are "control of the emotions in others" whereas other components of emotional intelligence are less important for innovativeness and entrepreneurial success. This result underlined the importance of emotional intelligence in fostering creativity in small and medium-sized businesses in particular on certain elements of emotional intelligence.

- The study analyses whether any difference (Gap) exists between the organizational initiatives perceived
and organizational initiatives expected by the BPO employees and the influence of demographic characteristics on
this gap. Primary and secondary data are utilized in this descriptive study and the population comprised of all the
BPO organizations in Kochi region, in Kerala. The sampling design is probability sampling and sampling method is
simple random sampling. The data was collected from 7 BPO organizations in Info park and the sample size is 637.
The data collected though structured closed ended questionnaire was analysed using SPSS for exploratory factor
analysis and AMOS for Confirmatory factor analysis. KMO & Barlett’s test, Cronbach Alpha was used to measure
sampling adequacy and questionnaire reliability respectively. Statistical tools include mean, independent z test,
ANOVA, Coefficient of variation, GAP, regression analysis and the various goodness of fit measures. There are 9
factors coming under Organizational Initiatives perceived (PF1-PF9) and 10 factors under Organizational Initiatives
expected(EF1- EF10). The mean value of Organizational Initiatives perceived is 0.56 whereas the mean value of the
Organizational Initiatives expected is 0.29.The difference ( Gap) between them is 0.27 a positive value implying that
the initiatives provided by the BPO sector is more than what the employees expect to receive from their
organization. So the organizations need not have concern on the adequacy of their policies and programs in pursuit
of improving employee welfare and quality work place. This means that the organizations can exclude the lack of
initiatives as a reason for high employee turnover within the sector. Analysing the demographic factors leading to
this Gap, it can be seen that except gender all other demographic characteristics studied like age, tenure, civic status,
educational qualification, income, organization type and employee category do influence Gap.The organizational
initiatives to be more effective, they are to be designed according to the deviating categories of employees and flexi
grouping of initiatives.

Liberalization of economy in the nineties and entry of large players in the retail business have brought the Indian retail industry into spotlight. The organized retail sector has been witnessing winds of changes in the last couple of years. Malls and large-size department stores have become a fixture in the urban landscape across the country.1 With some 15 million retail outlets, India has the highest retail density in the world. Thus, India is popularly referred to as " nation of shopkeepers ". However, only 4 per cent of these outlets are more than 500 square feet in size. In the name of retailing, the unorganized retailing has dominated the Indian landscape so far. Traditionally it was a family's livelihood, with their shop in the front and house at the back, while they run the retail business. With rapid urbanization, and changing patterns of consumer tastes and preferences, it is unlikely that the traditional outlets will survive the test of time. Despite the large size of this market, very few large and modern retailers have established specialized stores for products.

India has been projected to be world number three in plastics consumption after the USA and China. This seems to be a very achievable position over the past decades as, the developed world has reported three to four per cent growth, but the Indian plastic industry has reported double digit growth each year. It is now estimated that the plastic industry in India will grow at a rate of over 15 per cent per annum for several years to come. The plastic product manufacturing was quite profitable in the past years. Recently, the industry has been facing a number of problems. As this industry was profitable, many entrepreneurs has come up and set new industries. This has caused an intense competition in the sector. There is a crisis in the raw materials market. Electricity failure is affecting the industry very much. The companies are importing low price products from China, Singapore, Thailand and so on. Government help is not sufficient for this industry. Due to which majority of the entrepreneurs face stress. Entrepreneurial stress is one of the major health hazards of the modern environment. It accounts for much of the physical illness, substance abuse, and family problems experienced by millions of entrepreneurs. Also, entrepreneurial stress and stressful working conditions have been linked to low productivity, increased rates of accidents on and off the job. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), states that job stress, now more than ever, poses a threat to the health of workers – and the health of organizations. Many research studies have focused on the role of emotions in the workplace and have conceptually examined the relationship between cognition and emotions. This movement has largely been attributed to new research around the construct of Emotional Intelligence (EI). Emotional Intelligence involves behaviours related to the experience of emotion; specifically it involves expressing, recognizing, understanding and managing emotions. Thus there is a strong need for systematic research on emotional intelligence of entrepreneur's stress so as to assist them in their development and stress management.

The Indian plastics industry made a promising beginning in 1945 and has registered a fast growth since then. The growth accelerated in the 1960s and with the liberalization of Indian economy in 1991, it has shown tremendous growth and diversification and is now the star performer along with the other fast growing industries like electronics, computers and white goods. India has been projected to be world number three in plastics consumption after the USA and Ch ina. Th is seems to be a very achievable positio n over the past decades as, the developed world has reported 3-4 per cent growth, but the Indian plastic industry has reported double digit growth each year. According to AIPMA, it is now estimated that the plastic industry in India will grow at a rate of over 15 per cent per annum for several years to come. Mu mbai, Delh i, Ko lkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Vadodara, Vapi, Kanpur, A mritsar, Co imbatore, Bongaigaon, Barauni, Mettur, Du rgapur, Pimp ri (Pune), Rishra, etc. are so me of the outstanding centres which are well known for the production of either p lastic raw materials or finished plastic goods. Records in AIPMA states that Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, Iraq, Syria, U.K., Thailand, Sri Lanka, and a number of other countries are the regular buyers of Indian plastic goods. Currently, the Indian plastics industry is spread across the country, employing about 4 million people and over 2,000 exporters. That is why; the Govern ment has accorded it a thrust industry status. The time has come where the plastics industry has the capacity to influence the progress of all other sectors. Plastic industry is regarded as 'sunrise' industry due to its increasing versatility and burgeoning worldwide demand. No wonder we are living in the plastic age. The Govern ment has set up the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) at Chennai with the primary objective to develop skilled manpower and provide technical services to the plastic industry. The unprecedented growth in the use of plastics as a packing material has created a serious problem of solid waste disposal. Plastic is a non-biodegradable substance and creates problems of environmental pollution. Many advanced countries are seriously thinking of reverting back to conventional packing materials, thereby dealing big blow to this industry. However, Indian plastic industry may thrive on the recycling of the used plastic material for wh ich rag pickers can make valuable contribution. Recycling solves the problem of waste disposal, lessens the burden on raw materials, lightens the pressure on the biosphere and provides jobs to millions. It may be mentioned here that this process needs technological development and upgradation. The major challenges being faced by the entrepreneurs of the plastic industry in India are export/import related problems, insufficient government support, high competit ion, high risks, crisis in raw material market, low plastic consumption rate in India, electricity problem, moderate technological advancement, due to wh ic h most of the entrepreneurs face stress. Entrepreneurial stress is one of the major health hazards of the modern environ ment. It accounts for much of the physical illness, substance abuse, and family problems experienced by millions of

Potential appraisal is an important part of the
appraisal process. Appraising an employee’s potential helps
to evaluate his/her capability for growth and development to
take greater challenges, take up responsibilities and positions
in the organizational hierarchy. Most organizations
incorporate potential appraisal in their appraisal processes
for identifying and developing suitable employee base for
succession planning. The present study thus focuses on the
perception of potential appraisal among the managerial cadre
employees. Most of the respondents feel that the PAS
(Performance Appraisal System) must help in maintaining and
improving the morale of teams and should help the employees
in the identification of organizational objectives. The
employees have said that the PAS must help in manpower
planning to meet the expansion and other needs, if required.
Most of the employees feel that PAS must support good
maintenance of data that, in turn, should help the HR
managers to identify the training needs and to chart the career
development plans for an employee. It has been concluded
that the managerial cadre employees perceived view of the
Potential Performance Appraisal Metric does not differ from
one level of manager to the other.
