La economía española y la andaluza presentan en el primer trimestre de 2007 unas tasas de crecimiento elevadas especialmente en relación a las economías de los países centrales de la U.E. En el mismo sentido, la creación de empleo y la reducción de desempleo continúan a buen ritmo. En el presente artículo, se analizan la evolución de las principales variables laborales en el ámbito geográfico español y andaluz. De forma más específica en este artículo se presta especial atención a la población laboral femenina, con el objetivo de analizar con detalle los efectos del proceso de feminización del mercado laboral que ha tenido lugar en las últimas décadas en España y Andalucía.
One of the most important changes experienced by the Spanish labour market was the integration of women in employment during the last fifteen years. More than fifty percent of new total employment has been occupied by women; nevertheless, there are still many differences when their situation in the labour market is compared with men¿s. Male and female participation rates have converged somehow and the differences have been reduce in more than twenty percentage points, as well as unemployment and employment rates have also brought near. However, women inequality in the Spanish labour market arises when personal and labour characteristics (level of studies, age, familiar situation, activity sector, type of occupation, contracts, working time and salaries) are analysed and the challenges to face are many.
