Purpose: The study examined the influence of various corporate governance structures such as board size, board independence, board gender diversity and CEO duality on the financial performance of rural banks in Ghana. Research methodology: The study collected secondary data from the annual report of 30 rural banks for a 10-year period spanning 2010 to 2019. The data was coded into excel and exported into STATA where descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and regression analysis were adopted to answer the research questions. Results: The result shows that there was a positive but statistically insignificant association between CEO duality and ROA and ROE. The study further reveals a positive association between board size and ROA and ROE even though that of ROA was statistically insignificant. This study examines effect of inventory management on financial performance of listed consumer goods in Nigeria for period of 2013-2017. The study proxy inventory management with  raw material, work-in-progress, finished goods and inventory turnover while firm size was used as a control variable, financial performance was proxy with return on assets. This study adopts expo facto research design. The study collected secondary data from financial reports and accounts of these listed consumer goods companies. The study employs the employs panel regression and found that raw Material has no significant effects on financial performance of listed consumer goods companies in Nigeria, it was revealed that work-in-progress has negative significant effects on financial performance of listed consumer goods companies in Nigeria, while finished goods has no significant effects on financial performance of listed consumer goods companies in Nigeria. Inventory turnover has positive significant effects on financial performance of listed consumer goods companies in Nigeria. The study concludes that inventory management contributes to the improvement in financial performance of listed consumer goods companies in Nigeria. Based on the findings of this study, the study recommends. The study recommends that finished goods should not be stored for long in the ware house before they are distributed to the various outlets for onward distribution to customers. The study recommends that consumer goods companies should engage in aggressive marketing of their products to increase the inventory turnover and this will in turn increase their financial performance.

The public sector is that sector of the economy that is organised and operated by the government, to cater for the citizenry and composed of ministries, parastatals, Agency & municipal. It is distinct from the private sectors that are built on profit orientation. Public sector accounting system is unique and meant to record all financial information and transaction of government activities and transaction. It is described as a process of recording, communicating, summarizing, analyzing and interpreting government financial statement Adams (2004) and as the value of monitory operations increase, there became the need to introduce professionalism in financial reporting. This was to curb financial statement anomalies, falsification and engineering that became the other of the day in recent time of which both directors, administrators, top political personalities and professional accountants and auditors were indicated, which calls for over haul of the public sector financial administration and the need for adequate capacity building within the two major accounting professional bodies ICAN and ANAN and the recent recognition of CPA Nigeria in the sector. Chi square was used to test the validity of the research hypothesis which reveals that challenges confronting public sector has impact on financial statement which is alternative hypothesis (HI). A simple questionnaire were administered to collect data used for analysis, the study investigated the respondents on five characteristics namely Gender, Age group, Highest level of Education, Professional qualification to mention, which O cells (0%) have expected frequency of 21.8 while b. 0 cells (0%) have expected frequencies less than 5, and the minimum expected cell frequency 43.5. It was revealed that public sector accounting and financial administration has witnessed a lot of storm of financial mismanagement, maladministration, and financial re-engineering which has devastated the economy and made many citizen unemployed, hungry and unstable. It was recommend that there should be adequate capacity building with the professional accounting bodies with a good system of financial administration reform with global policy such as IPSAS backed with restructure of procedure to strengthen professional independence as to ensure accountability.

In second part, how IFRS and convergence of accounting standards adopted by internationally will be discussed and therefore final part will be discussed critically about why many countries like UK, USA, Canada, or Australia and jurisdiction like European Union, G20 adopted international financial reporting standards.

The research study investigates the banking sector and the development of small and medium scale enterprises in Osun State. The primary purpose of the study is to know how SMEs can be developed through the intervention of the banking sector. The hypothesis of this study is that SMEs do not play an important role in economic growths and developments of Osun State.Descriptive research design was adopted. The population of the study is the entire SMEs in Osun state and United Bank for Africa (UBA). Questionnaires were used as an instrument of primary data collection. Purposive sampling technique was used to select the sample, correlation analysis was employed. 170 questionnaires were administered but 150 were returned which left 20 questionnaires irrecoverable. Tables and simples percentages were used in data presentation. Four hypotheses were formulated. The finding of the study reveals that there is a positive correlation between loans granted by banks and the growth and development of SMEs in Osun State also, that SMEs cannot be concentrated in Osun State if they are not effectively financed due to the relationship that exists between the banks and SMEs. Based on the findings, it was recommended that guidelines/schemes by commercial banks to finance SMEs needs to be flexible to accommodate the small and medium scale entrepreneurs, the study also recommends that the financial institution needs to put more effort in financing SMEs, their role need to be felt by the SMEs in terms of growth and development.

Financial management plays a vital role in the success of every concern. This study aimed then to assess the level of effectiveness on financial management practices of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants – Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (JPIA – MPSPC) Chapter in consonance of achieving the organization’s Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives, the factor affecting their financial management practices, and its contributions to the students, faculty members, and the college as a whole.
The study made use of the descriptive qualitative method of research utilizing guided interview as a tool. Selected former officers of JPIA-MPSPC, faculty members and the Students Services and Development Officer (SSDO) Director served as respondents.
Based on the findings of the study, the department has established various sustainable practices on cash disbursements, receipts and special financial transactions. However, there are weaknesses noted for improvement such as the establishment of a concrete or written policies and operations manual. On factors affecting the financial management practices, the intervention of faculty contributed to maintaining good financial management practices. However, this leads to reliance of the officers. Through the good financial management practices were efficiently being implemented since then, various relevant programs enjoyed by the students, alumni and MPSPC.

In view of the above findings, an operations manual, a threshold on cash on hand, and adaptation of double entry bookkeeping should be established. The officers should attend seminars and trainings to hasten their knowledge and skills in the preparation of financial statements. Finally, these good financial management practices can be used by student organizations through its incorporation to the Students Manual.

This study evaluated the relevance of ratio analysis as a measure of performance of commercial banks in Nigeria for the period of 10 years 2006-2015. Secondary data of Access Bank, First Bank, Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB), United Bank for Africa (UBA), Union Bank, and Zenith Bank were used for the study. Financial ratios were employed to measure the profitability, liquidity and credit performance of these banks and the study found that banks' overall profitability performance increased by 9.6% from 2006-2008 while the performance was negative between 2009-2011 from-14.29% to-3.45% and finally banks' profitability performance decreased by 18% from 2012-2015. Liquidity performance, liquidity ratio fell by 61% from 50.48% to 19.62% in the period under review. Credit performance increased by 78% from 2006-2015. Capital adequacy was between 13.15%-15.34%. Statistical results indicated the significant relationship among the variables. The R 2 of 0.893 showed that Profit margin, Return on assets, Total loans and advances, Liquidity position and shareholders fund explained 89.3% of the variation in the Return on Equity of the selected banks under study. The relationship among the stated variables was significant, and the study, therefore, recommended the adoption of ratio analysis as a good measure of commercial banks performance in Nigeria.

This paper examines the accounting for securitizations under US GAAP and international financial reporting standards (IFRS). Using a sample securitization of the Ford Motor Company, we demonstrate substantial differences depending on whether the securitization is recorded following US GAAP or IFRS. Our analysis suggests international convergence of accounting standards will be more challenging as the FASB and IASB begin tackling issues, such as asset securitization, that have important economic consequences and where the differences between US GAAP and IFRS are substantive.

The phase of the entire banking industry is rapidly changing in the 21st century. A focus-shift from traditional banking to new service delivery channels is paramount among many banks to provide customers with 24/7 (around-the-clock) access to banking services for improved customer service delivery. Herein, we investigate into the impact of electronic banking (e-banking) service delivery on customer satisfaction in Ghana. A purposive non-probability sampling technique was utilized in a 150 sample-size selection from e-banking customers of Trust Bank Ghana Limited, Ecobank Ghana Limited and Barclays Bank Ghana Limited (50 from each bank). Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is real investment interaction of the rest of the world with a domestic economy. Whether these interactions influence the economic growth positively or otherwise depends on the area of strength of each country and its usage. Although it might be argued that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) could convey great advantages to host countries, thus, this study examined the effect of foreign direct investment on economic growth in the manufacturing and services sectors.
The research relied on Ordinary Least Square (OLS) technique, using data from 1980 to 2011, to empirically investigate sectoral impact of FDI on economic growth in Nigeria. The dependent variable for model one was Real Gross Domestic Product (RGDP) and the independent variables were Physical Capital, Human Capital and FDI, while in model two, the independent variables were Physical Capital, Human Capital, Manufacturing sector FDI and Service sector FDI.
Findings revealed a short run negative but not significant coefficient of service sector FDI whereas the manufacturing sector FDI, was positive and significant. The coefficient of the aggregate FDI was positive and significant. Physical capital was positive but not significant and human capital was also positive but not significant.
It was advised that government and all stakeholders should formulate policies that encourage the manufacturing sector FDI which could help boost and encourage economic growth. Government should also tackle officials’ corruption which added to cost of doing business in the country and negatively affect our image abroad.

This paper focuses on the assumptions of infinite-horizon forecasting in the field of firm valuation. The estimate of long-run continuing values is based on the hypothesis that companies should have reached the steady state at the end of the period of explicit forecasts. It is argued that the equivalence between cash accounting and accrual accounting is the way of verifying the steady-state assumption, defined as the state when a firm earns exactly its cost of capital, i.e., what we would expect in pure-competition settings. From this definition, we derive that the “ideal” growth rate to use in steady state is equal to the reinvestment rate times Weighted Average Cost of Capital. To validate our approach, we collect a sample of 784 analyst valuations and compare how the implied target prices deviate from what the target prices would have been using the “ideal” steady-state growth rates. Using Logit and Cox regression models, we find that this deviation has predictive value over the probability that actual market price reaches the target price over the following 12-month period—the smaller the deviation the greater is the likelihood that the market price reaches the target price.

This study examined the effect of public sector financial reforms on service delivery in Uganda‟s local governments using a case study of Busia District Local Government (BDLG). The study was prompted by poor service delivery in the district. The specific objectives of the study were: to assess the effect of implementing the Integrated Financial Management Systems (IFMS) on service delivery in Busia District Local Government; determine the effect of implementing the Treasury Single Account (TSA) on service delivery in Busia District Local Government; and, to examine the effect of implementing the Integrated Personnel and Payroll System (IPPS) on service delivery in Busia District Local Government. Using a case study design, data were collected from 202 respondents using questionnaires and 14 respondents using interviews. The study found that implementing the IFMS has a significant effect on service delivery in BDLG(r=0.435, p<0.05). The study further found out that implementing the TSA has a significant effect on service delivery in BDLG(r=0.435, p<0.05). It was also established that implementing the IPPS financial reforms has a significant effect on service delivery in BDLG(r=0.462, p<0.05). The study concluded that service delivery improves with greater implementation of public sector financial reforms. The study recommends that the government should strengthen the skills capacity of staff to implement the financial reforms. It is also recommended that the government addresses all the technical ICT challenges to the implementation of the reforms and that the government should make an effort to implement the financial reforms in all central and local government organizations in order to increase system outreach and coverage.

This study analyzed the relationship between credit risk and profitability of banks on the Ghana Stock Exchange. A secondary data in a panel form of seven banks listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange was examined over a period of nine years, using a linear multiple regression model. One key measure of profitability was analyzed in this study that is return on equity. The independent variables included in the regression model were non-performing loan to total loans and advances, and loans and advances to total deposits, bank size, leverage and growth. The results for the study indicate that non-performing loan to total loans and advances and loans and advances to total deposits have significant negative relationship with return on equity. Furthermore, a negative insignificant relationship was established between size and return on equity but significant positive relationships were found between growth and leverage and profitability. It was recommended that Credit officers should ensure that customers looking for loans meet all the necessary requirements through proper due diligence.

Purpose: This study examined the effect of employee commitment on organization performance of selected fast food outlets in Osun State. It determined how employee commitment affects staff turnover and also examined factors that affect employee commitment Design/Research method: Primary data was used for this study; respondents were selected using convenient sampling method from the study area. Questionnaire was used to gather information. One hundred copies of questionnaire were administered to the selected respondents and ninety-six were retrieved and found useful for analysis. This study was carried out to examine the impact of electronic banking on customer satisfaction in commercial banks in Imo State. The aim is to determine the relationship between electronic banking and customer satisfaction in some commercial banks in Imo State. The study used primary data; the instrument used in gathering the primary data was questionnaire. The statistical tool of analysis is the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Techniques. The result revealed that there is positive relationship between electronic banking and customer satisfaction in United Bank for Africa Plc, Access Bank Ltd and Keystone Bank Ltd. It also revealed that there is positive relationship between Automated Teller Machine and Mobile Banking and customer satisfaction in United Bank for Africa Plc, Access Bank Ltd and Keystone Bank Ltd. More so, the study shows that there is a negative relationship between point of sale and customer satisfaction in the three (3) banks. This implies that increase in charge levied on those electronic banking systems will have a corresponding decrease in customer satisfaction and vice-versa. The study therefore recommends the following; that banks should improve continuously in the advance of Automated Teller Machine for speedy transaction when using by customers; financial institutions (banks) and non-financial institutions should endeavor to make available POS machine at a minimal cost to some small business outlets in order to help in the achievement of cashless economy; the banks should ensure that there is creation of more internet security in internet and mobile banking so as to avoid loss of cash by customers as a result of fraudulent activities and finally, continuous advancement and reengineering information communication technology should play a vital role in the overall synergy of financial institution operations (banking). It becomes more important for bank leadership to deepen investment in ICT products to increase speedy, user friendly and perfect services. These will make Nigerian banks to stand firm in terms of efficiency, profitability, reliability, and competitiveness among its global competitors and to withstand challenges and changes that may occur in ICT controlled globalized economy.

Purpose: The study aimed to examine the interaction between liquidity risk and the firm&#39;s value among Kenyan SACCOs. Research methodology: This study adopted the positivism research philosophy and utilised both descriptive and causal research designs. The study targeted all the 164 licenced SACCOs in Kenya. A sample made up of 115 respondents was selected using a stratified random sampling method. The study utilized secondary data obtained from organization’s published financial statements. Analysis of data was done using descriptive statistics and inferential analysis. This study explores the impact of non-life insurance industry performance on economic growth in Nigeria. Insurance penetration is measured through five diverse proxies such as non-life insurance, savings, expenditures, investment and profits of the insurance industry with their time-series statistics covering the period 1988 and 2012. The ex-post facto research strategy and purposive (judgemental) sampling technique were discovered appropriate for the study as effectively utilised by several intellectuals in the past. Data were analysed using regression. The ordinary least square regression was adopted for the testing of the hypotheses. The outcomes of the study showed that non-life insurance penetration had a substantially positive effect on the economic growth in Nigeria during the period. Profit and investment are found to have a positive effect on the economy but statistically insignificant while Savings and government expenditure have an adverse effect on the economy. The study recommends an improved modification in insurance products, especially in non-life businesses to availing clients the chance of choosing from a diversity of products. The study, therefore, recommends an increase in the awareness of non-life insurance services for its impact to be felt at all levels and to encourage participation.

This study looked at the relationship between inventory management and financial performance. The population of the study comprises all conglomerate quoted company in the Nigerian stock exchange market as at 31 st December 2010. The scope of the study covered the period from 2010 to 2014. Descriptive, Pearson correlation and multiple regressions are used to analyze the data. It was found that inventory management is significantly related to the profitability of a company. This entails that; an efficient management of inventory cycle will enhance the profitability of a company.
