As universities move to virtual learning, the need to explore the most effective practices for remotely teaching art and design students became very critical. It is very important to examine the strategies universities are using to efficiently transfer skills and knowledge and meet the needs of students through an online learning environment. Art and design classes involve hands-on activities and requirements that cannot easily be met in digital environments. Therefore, the study aims to investigate the creative approaches that art and design educators adopted to transition to remote teaching. One major dilemma that appears not to help art and design students in their studio work is the assessment of creative outputs. Key issues inherent to assessment are who is carrying out the assessment and with what measure, especially when learners do not contribute to the assessment processes. This study sampled 247 tertiary students (104 male and 143 female) for their perceptions of assessment of their creative project-based learning in the Department of Communication Design, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. Data were sourced using a self-administered questionnaire. This article sounds a call to action and addresses the challenges of creating inclusive, queer‐affrming art teacher education curricula. We examine such challenges through case study vignettes of our varied US university settings and explore the perils of teaching in an increasingly queer‐hostile culture. Strategies are given for avoiding attacks against LGBT‐supportive pedagogy and championing the cause of social justice for queer students, parents, artists, teachers and faculty.

The purpose of the work is to study the creativity of the Odessa graphic artist Viktor Efimenko (1933-1994) in the context of the development of Ukrainian book graphics of the last third of the twentieth century. Метою статті є формування гіпотези про походження, семантичне значення і причини присутності специфічної символіки ґмерка на прикладі об'єкту, над яким проводиться комплекс реставраційних заходів. Методологія. Для досягнення мети застосовано методи візуального, історіографічного, стилістичного аналізу, а також: узагальнення, інтерпретування, абстрагування та опис досліджуваного ґмерка з бібліотечної шафи головного корпусу Національного університету «Львівська політехніка» в рамках попереднього реставраційного дослідження. Результати. Досліджуючи герб в процесі проведення реставрації, який прикрашає опорні стовпці галереї бібліотечної шафи, виділено його ключові композиційні форми і складові елементи, а саме: картуш, овальне тло і виділено його емблему як найбільш виразну особливість. Проаналізувавши основні закономірності використання аналогічних емблем в геральдиці шляхетних родів, ремісників, купців та містян, їх спільних рис та семіотичного навантаження, з'ясовано, що досліджуваний символ є ґмерком-специфічним типом авторського позначення власного твору або виробу.Після встановлення авторства та історії створення бібліотеч ної шафи з головного корпусу Національного університету «Львівська політехніка» висунуто гіпотезу про утворення символіки ґмерка-монограми з перших літер імен Юліана Захаревича та скульптора Леонарда Марконі (відповідно: J-Julian та L-Leonard). Наукова новизна полягає у встановленні раніше невідомого змістовного наповнення декоративного оздоблення в дерев'яній пластиці бібліотечної шафи другої половини ХІХ ст. головного корпусу Національного університету «Львівська політехніка». Практичну значущість становить розширення розуміння семантичних особливостей та історико-культурного контексту, який існує під час творення декоративно-ужиткового та образотворчого мистецтв, а також встановлення факту тісного взаємозв'язку між авторами та їх творчим наробком на прикладі львівського архітектурно-мистецького осередку в період другої половини ХІХ ст. Результати дослідження доцільно використовувати в галузі історії мистецтв, дизайну, а також в процесі розробки реставраційних програм та досліджень.

This article puts forward the learning and teaching benefits of placing theory for Art & Design students within the realm of the studio, focusing on a particular technique, Reframing Research, developed by the author. The ways in which this method can both engage students with the research process and deepen their understanding of context are identified. Primary research from student workshops and reflection on the author’s practice are used to support the discussion.

Whoever contemplates the contemporary city will notice that the urban fabric takes on a character that does not fit with the traditions of our society, and does not achieve the values that our religion calls for. Just as the urban fabric is loose and bears the character of separate buildings, from the inside the design turns to the outside, giving a feeling of disintegration and isolation. Likewise, in the architectural aspects, if we look at the characteristics that must be available in residential units, the most important of which is privacy, we will find that this value was absent from the designer, because the main reason is the transfer and imitation of Western architecture that is not compatible with our traditions and customs. The applicable building codes do not include any requirements regulating the locations of openings or protrusions to achieve privacy. For this reason, some residents have resorted to using different methods to achieve privacy for their homes. Randomness in planning, overlapping uses in residential areas, and proximity to residential complexes have led to a loss of auditory privacy. Therefore, it is our duty as architects and researchers in the field of architecture to stop and learn about identity and what led to its loss in our contemporary architecture, and thus try to find some solutions that guarantee the return of architecture to its previous era, the era of distinct Arab-Islamic architecture referred to as Lebanon.

In this research work, the lifetime of different garments has been investigated by surveying 500 people. Also, the lifetime of the same items has been investigated by following the same procedure after adopting refashion. The difference in life before and after refashion has been investigated as well. The survey result shows that the lifetime of the garments items increases to a greater extent after adopting refashion. As it is possible to increase the lifetime of garments by refashioning so the refashion technique followed in this research work has an environmental, social, and economic impact to obtain enrich and greener world.

Daniel Minter is a contemporary artist, and community leader working for social change. Minter is a printmaker, painter, sculptor, educator and illustrator currently based in Portland, Maine (Kane, “Making Art, Building Connections,” 2017). His portfolio is vast, and the continuous narrative thread throughout his work is the original, symbolic language he has created to communicate his own experience, as well as, the collective experience and history of African Americans. A key point in his success as an artist was in 2018, when he exhibited a large mixed media installation at the Portland Museum of Art biennial. This monumental sculptural installation, titled A Distant Holla (fig. 1), used this symbolic language to narrate the African American diaspora, and also the ephemeral beauty of human existence and connectedness (Keyes, “A Distant Holla,” 2018, p.3).

The purpose of this article is to share ideas from 5x5x5=creativity, a research initiative
established in Bath (UK) in 2000, with the aim of developing and embedding a creative and reflective pedagogy in schools and early years settings. 5x5x5=creativity research, in
partnership with schools, educators, artists, creative professionals, mentors and cultural
centres, aims to raise the aspirations and improve the life chances of children and young
people as creative learners. In our research we want to develop creative reflective practice and influence systemic educational change. This research defends the special role of the arts in developing a more flexible concept of education through curiosity and creativity, together with the capacity for the arts for allows ‘possibility thinking’ through a creative and critical pedagogy. In this article we analyse the impact of the artists’ involvement on the development of a creative, reflective pedagogy in schools. As both artists and educators we believe it is necessary to challenge current orthodoxies and establish creative and critical thinking at the heart of learning for both children and adults.

The purpose of the study is to identify the peculiarities of a Ukrainian Man visual representation in the 1945–1989 graphic design of the Ukrainian diaspora. The methodology of this research is based on iconographic and semiotic analysis, as well as the application of gender studies approach.
