Esta contribución revisa la historia del control bibliográfico y de uno de sus mecanismos básicos: la revista periódica, a partir de cuatro momentos en el desarrollo de las publicaciones seriadas y la manera como éstos se asocian con los procesos de demarcación del conocimiento y el surgimiento de sus formas hegemónicas. Muestra cómo la explosión de la información es en realidad parte de una estrategia retórica recurrente en manos de actores sociales relevantes en su lucha por el control hegemónico de la producción de conocimiento certificado. Esta contribuição revisa a história do controle bibliográfico e um de seus mecanismos básicos: a revista periódica, baseada em quatro momentos no desenvolvimento das publicações seriadas e na maneira como estão associadas aos processos de demarcação do conhecimento e ao surgi-mento de suas formas hegemônicas. Mostra como a explosão de informação é, na verdade, parte de uma estratégia retórica recorrente nas mãos de atores sociais relevantes em sua luta pelo controle hegemônico da produção de conhecimento certificado. This article reviews the history of bibliographic control and one of its basic tools-the periodical journal-, based on four moments in the development of serials and how they are associated with the processes of knowledge delimitation, as well as the emergence of its hegemonic forms. It reveals how the explosion of information is actually part of a recurrent rhetorical strategy led by relevant social actors in their struggle for the hegemonic control of the production of certified knowledge.

Sažetak Rad istražuje mogućnosti primjene Univerzalne bibliografske kontrole u okruženju informacijsko-komunikacijske tehnologije na omeđenu mrežnu građu koja je nastala i koristi se jedino u tom okruženju. Istražuju se načini i mogućnosti izbora autorskih odrednica zbog toga što se i u novom okruženju one prepoznaju kao jedna od najvažnijih pristupnica bibliografskim zapisima, koje pomažu korisniku u pronalaženju, identificiranju i odabiranju bibliografske jedinice, a također služe i kao pomagalo u kretanju katalogom. S jedne strane, tema rada obrađuje se u okviru koji određuje prvi dio Pravilnika i priručnika za izradbu abecednih kataloga Eve Verona, a to je izbor elemenata naslova iz kojih se biraju odrednice glavnih i sporednih kataložnih jedinica, kao i nazivlje koje je on definirao. S druge strane, temu određuje primjena ovih odredbi na omeđenu mrežnu građu pa će, stoga, biti potrebno definirati i opisati posebnosti te vrste građe. Prikazat će se kako se načela, definicije i odredbe Pravilnika mogu primijeniti i na bibliografsku kontrolu omeđene mrežne građe, te da on pruža dobar okvir i smjernice za buduća proširenja i razradu koja će uključivati posebnosti ove vrste građe. U odnosu na te posebnosti, bit će potrebno definirati i izvore podataka za izbor odrednica, kao i analizirati različite vrste autorskih udjela.

Main goal of the paper is to show that RDA introduces a radical
transformation in the way we conceive cataloging. This transformation
is embodied in two major divisions within RDA. On one hand, it
concerns the record (i.e. the description), the arrangement and
the visualization of data. On the other hand, RDA underlines the
importance of two processes, i. e. to identify entities and to create
relevant relationships among them. The result of the whole process is the creation of a set of data, that are independent from technical
equipment, rather than bibliographic records.

This paper highlights the features of collection development policy and selection criteria of library materials in the changing paradigm where the electronic media and communication technology are gaining momentum
in developing countries. The paper also identifies the changes to integrate the issues of collection development and management of electronic resources in the library. The criteria for selection of electronic resources, vital part of any policy of collection development, are also discussed here.
Electronic resources was also be identified and evaluated for selection like traditional materials through the consultation of reviews and other services. A review of conditions in India regarding collection development policy and practices was also discussed in this paper.

Modern Chinese library cataloging practices were developed from Western practices and rules of library cataloging. In a long period of time, various major libraries had their own
cataloging rules and no unified national rules existed.
During June 1994-October 1995, the National Technical Committee for Information and Documentation Standardization and the Library Society of China jointly sponsored and pushed to organize an editorial board of Chinese Cataloging Rules, which was published in 1996, just before the 62nd IFLA General Conference in Beijing. Chinese Cataloging Rules was based mainly on ISBDs and AACR2, with the consideration of Chinese characteristics and without the consideration of the concept of main entry.
The second edition of Chinese Cataloging Rules was published in 2005. The National Library of China organized the revision work, and experts from major libraries and academic institutions participated in the work. Since then, there have been quite a lot of controversies over the use of the rules, which are focused on the internationalization and national characteristics. All people talked about internationalization and ISBD. But they have different points of view about the Chinese characteristics and different ways of understanding about the articles in ISBD.
This paper is to compare International Cataloguing Principles and Chinese Cataloging Rules, and analyze their differences. It is jointly written by Prof. Songlin Wang (uniform titles and GMD), Ms. Qinfang Xie (personal names and serials), Mr. Shaoping Wang (corporate bodies and multi-part structures) and Dr. Ben Gu (descriptive cataloging and personal names). Through such cooperation, we are trying to reflect the actual situation in China and considering a national coordination in the near future.

The promulgation of the entity-analysis model set forth in Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) has led to its experimental application to a variety of collections of existing bibliographic records. Records for continuing resources (CR) have been deliberately excluded from these applications due to perceived difficulties in applying the model. These difficulties derive from a variety of sources: the imprecision of the more abstract FRBR Group 1 entities (work and expression), divergent definitions of two concepts central to bibliographic records--the work and authorship--when applied to continuing resources, and the relative merits of various mechanisms (e.g., main entries, MARC 21 linking entry fields) available for collocating records for CR. Additionally, because a particular library may own a single CR work as a sequence (overlapping or otherwise) of partially complete manifestations, the Group 1 hierarchy of the FRBR model tends to be inefficient for presenting these holdings to the user in a concise manner.

With the contributions of international experts, the book aims to explore the new boundaries of universal bibliographic control. Bibliographic control is radically changing because the bibliographic universe is radically changing: resources, agents, technologies, standards and practices. Among the main topics addressed: library cooperation networks; legal deposit; national bibliographies; new tools and standards (IFLA LRM, RDA, BIBFRAME); authority control and new alliances (Wikidata, Wikibase, Identifiers); new ways of indexing resources (artificial intelligence); institutional repositories; new book supply chain; “discoverability” in the IIIF digital ecosystem; role of thesauri and ontologies in the digital ecosystem; bibliographic control and search engines.

The author thinks that library cataloging has experienced three labor pains just as work quantified, employee turnover and marginalization in the recent ten years. He points out some existing problems in library cataloging just as follows: the standards have not been internationally compatible and not been unified in our country yet; there is sluggishness when facing with the technology change; the researches show the tendency of dogmatization and concretization; the cataloging is facing with transformation because of the change of industry chain; and so on. / 作者认为，近十几年来图书馆编目工作经历的工作量化、人员流动和边缘化三次阵痛，导致了图书馆编目工作的衰落；并指出当前存在的问题，如标准尚未与国际接轨且国内也未统一，在技术变革面前尚有惰性，研究有教条化和科研具体化的倾向，产业链变化引发的转型等。

Indexing is related to collection, organization, processing, and dissemination of micro-minute information. Classification, cataloguing, compilation of bibliographies are belonged to organization of macro-information. The articles explains what is indexing. There are many terms, concepts, types, methods and systems related to indexing and this article explores some of those points.

Organised by the Università degli Studi di Firenze, with the Associazione Italiana
Biblioteche (AIB) and the European University Institute, the conference chair was Mauro
Guerrini, member of the Bibliography Section Standing Committee. The organising team
assembled an extensive list of promoters and partners from Italy and beyond, including the
IFLA Bibliography Section (see BC2021.unifi.it). Given the premise that bibliographic
control is radically changing because the bibliographic universe is radically changing – in
its resources, actors, technologies, standards, and practices – the Conference's aim was
to explore the new boundaries of Universal Bibliographic Control. In doing this the
organisers assembled speakers representing every aspect of the publication chain,
including publisher viewpoints as well as libraries. Standards were well represented, and
national bibliographies, authority files, linked data and semantic web. Presentations also
covered areas not usually considered when discussing bibliographic control but very
important to university libraries, such as institutional repositories, preprint archive servers,
and research data management. There were 35 papers.

The main objective of this article is to expose the origins of the Mexican copyright's law in its three legal dimensions: Peninsular, Indian and Creole. In addition, it seeks to analyze and compare the similarities and differences between legal rulings dedicated to guarantee intellectual property provisions as found in the Collection of Laws of the Indies, and some of the contemporary legal system, either by influences or by similarities in development.

The main objective of the contribution is to propose some considerations on the relationship between 'library' and 'memory', in order to be able to outline a reasonably feasible analysis perspective of an obviously very large topic. From a methodological point of view, in the first place a summary and schematic periodization of the field of identified relationships will be proposed. Secondly, some possible modulations of these relationships will be discussed, examining them from within and outside the Bibliographic Universe, and therefore within and outside the boundaries of bibliographic and library science disciplines. Finally, some considerations on the physiognomy of a hypothetical Bibliographic Multiverse will be proposed, in which it is possible to host the different memories in which the recordings and the models according to which they are organized are organized, integrating the binding order of the Bibliographic Universe with the multiplicity of data and information that exists in the dynamic and interactive models of reality, of the bibliographic space, of people's minds.

The application of MARC formats in Chinese libraries has a history of about 20 years. At the age of internationalization and digitization, people ask the question: why we chose UNIMARC for the basis of CNMARC? Is it the best choice for China? Are there any other options? In this paper, the author reviews many historical documents and analyzes the present status of MARC formats in China.
