The United States (US) and India are two populous democratic nations that are leading contributors to global climate change and greenhouse gas emissions. To address these problems, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is one of the tools commonly utilized by the two nations to reduce negative environmental impacts of buildings. This research studied the ways in which LEED certified buildings offer social benefits to their surrounding communities in different socioeconomic contexts. For this study, two LEED Platinum Rated Buildings were purposively selected in the US and India, and technologies and strategies used to achieve the Platinum rating were identified. These technologies and strategies were classified based on social benefits offered to the surrounding community, and cases were compared to evaluate whether benefits varied between the two contexts. Bu çalışmada, Avrupa Birliği Ülkelerinde ve Ülkemizdeki inşaat ve yıkıntı atıklarının tekrar kullanımı, geri dönüşümü ve yıkıntı malzemelerin geri kazanımıyla ilgili genel bilgiler verilmiş ve kamu binalarının hurda karşılığı yıktırılması süreci analiz edilerek buradan elde edilecek kamu gelirinin artırılmasına yönelik çözüm önerilerinin sunulması amaçlanmıştır. Kamu idarelerinin 2016 ile 2020 yılları arasında yapmış oldukları tüm hurda karşılığı yıkım işleri incelenmiştir. İhaleye çıkılan iki yüz beş (205) iş için ilgili kamu idareleriyle temasa geçilerek yapmış oldukları işler ile ilgili sözleşme bedelleri ile bu işlerin muhammen bedel hesaplama yöntemine ilişkin bilgiler talep edilmiştir. Starting from1970s, environmental concerns are on the rise, and construction industry, which has the highest impact on the environment, has been focused on. In developed countries, in order to assess the impact on the environment and encourage progress, green building certification systems have been introduced, which evaluate construction projects based on energy, water and resource usage, impact on natural and built environment, transportation etc. Standards and codes in use in the subject country are the basis for this evaluation process. Project management aims to complete projects within predefined scope, time and budget limitations with the required level of quality. In this study, application features for green building certification systems will be evaluated and key points to be followed during project management process of these green building projects’ production will be listed.

In the last ten years, numerous Sustainability Assessment Systems have been developed worldwide to provide construction stakeholders tools that help in achieving better sustainable development. Jordan developed its own Green Building Guideline in 2013 for new buildings but unfortunately, the guideline hasn’t included any criteria for existing or traditional buildings. The main objective of this study is to develop a sustainable Assessment Method for existing and traditional buildings to assist both public and private construction sectors in Jordan in achieving more sustainable buildings. Neighborhood sustainability assessment systems support the planning of sustainable and resilient cities. This research analyses, compares, and evaluates three neighborhood sustainability assessment systems (NSA) of (i) the German Sustainable Building Council for Urban Districts (DGNB–UD), (ii) the USA Leadership in energy and environmental design for Neighborhood Development (LEED–ND), and (iii) the Indian Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment for Large Developments (GRIHA–LD). The theoretical background, certification types, process, and evaluation methods of the three NSAs are discussed. The qualitative and quantitative comparative analysis and evaluation methods of the NSAs included identifying and assessing ten weighted essential urban sustainability themes. To achieve the goals of carbon peaking, a national policy instrument for carbon peaking in the building and construction sector has been launched by the Chinese MOHURD (30 June 2022). We have developed an actionable framework for implementing these policy objectives. The framework was designed by classifying and prioritizing selected strategic government recommendations in the form of an interactive indicator system and tool for evaluating the quality of low-carbon urban and neighborhood planning actions based on the decarbonation principles of carbon emission reduction and carbon capture. The analytic network process (ANP) was applied for processing the interactions and prioritizing the indicators (23 in total for the two principles applied). Dünyada yaşanan iklim değişikliği, kirlilik, atık gibi çevre sorunları, kaynakların azalması ve tüketimin artması mimarlık alanında yeni arayışları ortaya çıkarmıştır. Bunlardan biri de atığın yeniden kullanım ve geri dönüşüm yolu ile yapılarda yer almaya başlamasıdır. Bu noktada çalışmada, mimaride atık malzeme kullanımının tasarımsal girdilerinin ortaya konulması amaçlanmıştır. Bunun için atığın yapı malzemesine dönüştüğü 10 yapı örneği seçilmiştir. Örnekler öncelikle atığın yapı malzemesi olup-olmaması, malzemenin türüne ve edinim yoluna, yeni yapıdaki kullanım yeri ve bulunduğu yer, malzemenin tasarımdaki yeri tespit edilmiştir. Tespitlere bağlı olarak oluşturulan diyagram üzerinden atık malzeme ile ilgili genel çıkarımlara varılmıştır. Sonuçta atık malzemenin yaşamsal döngüsünün sağlanmış olması ile kazanılan avantajların yanında geniş bir yelpazede kullanım olanağı ile tasarımcısına özgün ürünler çıkarma imkânı sunmaktadır.

Endustrilesme ile kirlenmeye baslayan ic hava kalitesi bugun oncelikli bir sorun haline gelmistir. Konutta kullanilan endustriyel mobilya, esyalar ve donati elemanlari onemli olcude ic hava kalitesini etkilemektedir. Bu calismada konutlarda mobilya, esya ve donati elemanlarinda kullanilan malzeme turlerinin tespiti, ic hava kalitesine etkisi ve kullanici memnuniyeti tespit edilmistir. Kıbrıs Türk İnşaat Müteahhitleri Birliği, İnşaat ve Yıkım Atıkları Yönetimi Planına yönelik çalışmalarını, AB’nin su/atık su ve katı atık sektörleri için kapasite geliştirme projesi teknik takımı ile birlikte yürütmektedir – 2. Aşama – Kıbrıs’ın kuzey kısmı, AB Hizmet Sözleşmesi N° 2015/363-171. Bu çalışmanın sonuçları KTT için olan Katı Atık Yönetimi Planını destekleyecek ve bu plana entegre edilecektir.

Modern dünyanın en büyük sorunlarından olan çevre kirliliği, küresel ısınma, hızlı nüfus artışı, sanayileşme, ekolojik sistemin bozulması, salgın hastalıklar ve aşırı tüketim yakın gelecekte insanlığın çevresel, ekonomik ve sosyal tehditlerle karşılaşabileceğini göstermektedir. Tüketim alışkanlıklarının doğal kaynakların kendini yenileme sürecinin çok üstünde olması ve mevcut kaynakların ihtiyaç fazlası olarak tüketilmesi her alanda ‘’Sürdürülebilirlik’’ kavramının benimsenmesinde önem kazanmaktadır. Bilimsel ve teknolojik gelişmelerle beraber artan yaşam kalitesinin, tüketici ihtiyaçlarının değişmesine ve yeni bir tüketim kültürünün ortaya çıkmasına sebep olduğundan bahsedilmektedir. Değişen tüketici ihtiyaçlarının yaşamsal gereksinimleri karşılamanın ötesinde ayrıcalık ve itibar göstergesine dönüştürüldüğünden söz edilebilmektedir. Tüketim şekliyle farklılaşma ihtiyacının giderildiği düşüncesi, satın alma iradesinin insan hakimiyetinden çıktığı ve manipüle edildiği günümüzde, ihtiyaç fazlası bir çok ürünün yaşam alanlarında istiflenerek işlevlerini yitirmelerine neden olduğu gözlemlenmektedir. Doğal kaynakların kendini yenileyebilmesine olanak sağlayabilecek tüketim anlayışının yaygınlaşması, var olan kaynakların korunması, temel ihtiyaçların ön plana çıkarılması; dengeli, barışçıl, sade, kendini olduğu gibi kabul eden Japon dünya görüşü ve yaşam şekli olan ‘’Wabi-Sabi’’ ile bütünleşebilmektedir. Çalışmada iç mekânlarda kullanılacak donatıların ve malzemelerin tüketim trendlerinden bağımsız, var olanı korumaya yönelik, sürdürülebilir olmasına dikkat çekmek amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında Wabi-Sabi’nin iç mekân tasarımı ile bütünleşmesinin mobilya, malzeme ve iç mekân uygulama örnekleri üzerinden incelenmesi planlanmaktadır. Araştırma içeriğinde nitel analiz ve bilgi toplama yöntemi kullanılacaktır. Çalışma sonunda mobilya ve malzeme seçimlerinin yanı sıra mevcutun da korunmasıyla beraber popüler eğilimlerden uzak, temel ihtiyaçlara yönelik özgün yaşam alanlarının elde edilebileceği ön görülmektedir.

The assessment of urban sustainability is increasingly being seen as essential to mitigate the undesirable impacts of urbanisation in cities while improving communities’ resilience to environmental, social and economic changes. Several urban sustainability assessment tools (USATs) have been developed to make such informed decision-making. In addition to their role as an enabler for stakeholder engagement and increased public awareness throughout the lifecycle of an urban development project, USATs act as a catalyst to increase market demand for sustainable products and services by providing a mechanism for recognising excellence. This article reports on a critical review of how cultural heritage is addressed in two internationally well-known and used neighborhood assessment tools (NSAs): BREEAM Communities (BREEAM-C) and LEED Neighborhood Design (LEED-ND). The review was done through a discourse analysis in which critical heritage studies, together with a conceptual linking of heritage to sustainability, served as the point of departure. The review showed that while aspects related to heritage are present in both NSAs, heritage is re-presented as primarily being a matter of safeguarding material expressions of culture, such as buildings and other artifacts, while natural elements and immaterial-related practices are disregarded. Moreover, the NSAs institutionalize heritage as a field of formal knowledge and expert-dominated over the informal knowledge of communities.
