Cor

The paper contributes to the discussion regarding the Corinthian opponents of the resurrection of the dead (1 Cor 15:12). In particular, it attempts to re-examine the thesis of the Epicurean framework of this controversy. The first part focuses on the main lines of interpretation of 1 Cor 15:12 and the presentation of the Epicurean thesis. It is followed by an analysis of Paul’s polemical statements against the thesis of his Corinthian opponents, “there is no resurrection of the dead” (1 Cor 15:12; cf. vv. 19, 29-34, 35). It is assumed that Paul clearly says that his opponents deny a bodily resurrection and future life – there is nothing after death. The third part of the paper reconsiders some hermeneutic factors concerning the identity of the Corinthian opponents of the resurrection. 1 Cor 15 contains terminological and ideological parallels to Epicureanism, especially, by way of opposition. Yet, the valuation of these data remains an open question.

O presente trabalho pretende observar a figura de Franco Terranova (1923-2013), poeta, marchand e galerista, italiano nascido em Crucoli, na Calábria, e que cresceu em Nápoles, chegando no Brasil com 24 anos em 1947. Manteve-se por quase 40 anos à frente da Petite Galerie, importante galeria de arte brasileira que funcionou no Rio de Janeiro e em São Paulo entre 1954 e 1988. Sua obra literária conta com cerca de dez livros publicados. Mesmo tendo grande reconhecimento no circuito de artes visuais, a personagem de Terranova permanece obscura. A escrita de Terranova é essencialmente autobiográfica. Uma mistura de vida e fantasia que atravessa todos os seus livros, tornando sua obra um grande poema em processo que passa de um livro a outro. A vida do poeta também se mistura com a história de sua galaria de arte, gerando uma instigante rede de vida, literatura, arte e cor. O recorte proposto nesta breve analise é, a partir da observação de seus textos, examinando relações com autores como Goethe, Wittgenstein, Brian O’Doherth e David Bachelor – que desenvolveram trabalhos teóricos e filosóficos em torno da cor –, perceber como este elemento visual cromático, a cor, está presente em sua poética e também em sua vida.

No contexto do desenho assumimos como cor natural da linha o preto ou o cinzento. No entanto, a linha assume uma presença colorida em várias ocasiões. No caso do desenho parietal Paleolítico, na decoração tumular egípcia, nas sinopias da Renascença italiana, nos desenhos com linha branca de Dürer, ou nos desenhos a giz de Miguel Ângelo e Watteau, as variações cromáticas têm origem na disponibilidade limitada de pigmentos naturais. Nas aguarelas de Cézanne, nos desenhos a lápis de cor ou óleo de Toulouse-Lautrec ou nos desenhos sobre tela de Guston, a linha colorida é uma opção formal permitida pela abundância de cores disponíveis. A partir destes exemplos, e das circunstâncias que os determinam, interessa reflectir nessa transformação da linha, do registo gráfico neutro para uma presença cromática que substitui a mancha de cor contínua e pode adquirir significado para além da representação.

In the context of drawing we assume the natural color of the line as black or gray. However, the line assumes a colorful presence on several occasions. In the case of Paleolithic parietal drawing, Egyptian tomb decoration, Italian Renaissance sinopias, Dürer white line drawings, or Michelangelo and Watteau chalk drawings, the chromatic variations originate from the limited availability of natural pigments. In Cézanne's watercolors, Toulouse-Lautrec oil or color pencil drawings, or Guston's canvas drawings, the colored line is a formal choice allowed by the abundance of colors available. From these examples, and the circumstances that determine them, it is important to reflect on this transformation of the line from the neutral graphic trace to a chromatic presence that replaces the continuous color spot and can acquire meaning beyond representation. Reflexões dadas a partir da descoberta de uma ou mais folhas em branco, em cadernos de notas usados há aproximadamente trinta anos. Questiona-se, a partir disso, o sentido dessas páginas na sequencialidade do caderno, por meio do conceito de superfície e da “cor” branca, chegando à ideia de “devir branco” para aquela situação. Abstract: In this paper we evaluate the ethical aspects of a public-private partnership (PPP) for the production and distribution of electricity in a particular context, i.e., in a developing country characterized by a high corruption rate. In general, multi-national enterprises (MNE) are considered suspect in developing countries by their own populations and by others, especially in those countries perceived as corrupt. A second source of suspicion concerns the privatization of utilities: utilities such as electricity and clean water play an essential role in people’s lives, thus, leaving their production and distribution in the hands of for-profit companies may seem imprudent, particularly with respect to the poorest people. On the basis of a questionnaire submit-ted to managers of a privatized utility company in Cameroon, this case study suggests that the combination of these two sources of suspicion does not automatically lead to negative outcomes.

ABSTRACT So far, academicians have not been able to empirically confirm that boardroom reforms will lead to more effective boards and ultimately positively affect corporate performance. As social actors we all have biased views, as do boardroom members, thus it is necessary to analyze directors' perceptions about their role in order to understand if they are aligned and acting accordingly. The research goal is then to understand what is, in fact, directors' role and contribution. Through a survey-based method board members from Portuguese listed firms were requested to rate the Chairman, the Board, the Senior Independent Director and the CEO performance, through their own perceptions. The survey draws three key conclusions: first, there are, generally, many inconsistencies around the board role boundaries between the chairman and the CEO and, particularly, around their strategic involvement. Second, tensions arise from the way this relationship evolves affecting both teams (the executive and non-executive directors) and third, there is an absence of a clear picture of the board's role regarding its strategic involvement. This study, whilst exploring and understanding directors and their interactions inside the boardroom in a non-Anglo-American context, contributes to opening the 'black-box' of board dynamics, thus 'dismantling the fortress' in boards studies.

The objective of this study is to assess the diagnostic accuracy of the personality of the Mexican criminal with the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 (MMPI-2). The inventory was administered to 1,740 Mexican participants of which 870 (728 male and 142 female) are prison inmates, processed and/or sentenced for various crimes from various prisons in Mexico City, and the other 870 participants (728 male and 142 female) are not prison inmates.
