Creative Drama

The aim of this study is to examine the perceptions of students on the implementation of life sciences curriculum through using creative drama sessions. Eighty seven 2 nd and 3 rd grade students from an elementary school in one of the districts of Ankara participated in the study. Data were collected through employing four different creative drama methods: (a) letters, (b) drawings, (c) improvisations, and (d) still images of students. Content analysis was used to analyze the qualitative data collected in drama sessions. The findings indicated that the teachers had a role of knowledge transmitter to a group of passive students in life sciences classrooms. The most frequently used teaching methods were lecturing, question-answer, and demonstration through using textbooks, workbooks, and white boards. Bu araştırmada, yaratıcı drama yönteminin öğretmen adaylarında HIV/AIDS'e ilişkin farkındalığa etkisinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Ankara'daki bir devlet üniversitesinde öğrenim gören 19 öğretmen adayı ile yürütülen araştırmanın uygulamaları yedi oturumda ve 21 saatte geçekleştirilmiştir. Karma yöntem desenlerinden iç içe desenin kullanıldığı araştırmanın nicel verileri anket, nitel verileri ise yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ve öğretmen adayları tarafından tutulan günlükler ile toplanmıştır. Nicel verilerin analizinde, frekans analizi kullanılmıştır. Nitel veriler, tümevarımsal içerik analizi yöntemi ile çözümlenmiştir. The aim of the current study was to examine the effects of creative drama method on the 7th graders’ achievement and motivation towards English language course. The study was in quasi-experimental pattern model with pretest and posttest control group. It was conducted with seventy 7th grade students, 36 of whom were assigned as the experimental group and 34 of whom were assigned as the control group. Three units - “Tourist Attractions”, “Our Natural Heritage” and “Computers” - were taught during a six-week period in the experimental group by using a book developed by the researcher, while the same units were taught by using the usual course book in the control group. “English Course Achievement Test” and “Motivation Scale” were conducted in both groups preceding and following the intervention. “Student Interview Form about the Implementation of Creative Drama Method” was conducted with the experimental group to get the students’ opinions on the method following the intervention. It was found that the students’ achievement test scores improved in both groups, and this improvement was higher in the experimental group. However, the difference was not significant. On the other hand, there was a statistically significant difference between average motivation scores of the two groups in favor of the experimental group, and this was supported by student interview forms.

自表演藝術納入九年一貫國家課程以來，臺灣戲劇教育相關研究與實踐有顯著成長的趨勢。由於當前戲劇教育理論方法多自西方譯介而來，推動者在初期階段將重心放在使之由陌生而落地生根，本無疑義。不過，部分當初為了「便於理解」或「利於普及」的說法，已使得後繼研究者與教學者在未明究理的情形下產生了訛誤，間接影響到戲劇教育學術論述以及課程教學的內容與品質。其中，傾向將「創造性戲劇」、「教育戲劇」與「過程戲劇」等不同型態的教室戲劇異中求同，強調其理念與工具的共通性，模糊它們在本源、立意、課程結構與操作型態上的殊異。這麼做雖然符應了戲劇教育界國際發展的趨勢，亦投合教師立即應用之需，但長此以往，卻可能限縮戲劇課程、教學與研究多元開展或循序深掘的可能性。有鑑於此，本文重返「創造性戲劇」、「教育戲劇」與「過程戲劇」的源頭，探查它們的流變，辨析三者的異同，期能啟示教室戲劇的實踐者與研究者重整行囊再出發，厚實戲劇課程、教學與研究的概念基礎，走穩下一哩路。

Bu araştırmanın amacı; yaratıcı drama lider ve lider adaylarının yaratıcı drama süreçlerinde kullanılan/kullanılabilecek ölçme ve değerlendirme konularındaki profi llerini ve yeterlilik algılarını belirlemektir. Araştırma, tarama desenindedir. Araştırmaya veri toplamak amacıyla on iki sorudan oluşan " Yaratıcı Drama Lider/Lider Adaylarının Ölçme ve Değerlendirme Konusundaki Görüşlerini Belirleme Anketi " geliştirilmiştir. Taslağı 18 sorudan oluşan anket üçer ölçme değerlendirme uzmanı ve yaratıcı drama lider adayı tarafından incelenmiş ve nihai 12 maddelik anket oluşturulmuştur. Anketin kapsam geçerliği, üç ayrı ölçme değerlendirme uzmanından görüş alınarak sağlanmıştır. Çevrimiçi olarak toplam 114 lider ve lider adayına uygulanan anket sonucunda; lider ve lider adaylarının nicel veya nitel araştırma yöntemleri konusunda eğitim aldıkları, yaratıcı drama atölyelerinde ağırlıklı olarak sonuç değerlendirmeye yönelik olarak sözlü değerlendirmeler yaptıkları, değerlendirme sonuçlarını genellikle kayıt altına almadıkları ve büyük oranda katılımcıya geri bildirim vermedikleri, ölçme ve değerlendirme konusunda yeterlilik algılarının orta düzey veya altında yer aldığı görülmüştür. The purpose of this research is to determine the opinion and the profi le of creative drama leaders and leader candidates in the fi eld " the measurement and evaluation that is used or that can be used in creative drama process. " Scanning method has been used in this research. A questionnaire of twelve questions has been developed and used to collect data (opinion of creative drama leaders and leader candidates on using measurement and evaluation questionnaire). Draft questionnaire consisting of 18 questions was examined by the three measruement and evaluation expert and the creative drama leader and the fi nal 12 questionnaire item was created. The validity of the questionnaire was obtained by consulting with three different measurement and evaluation experts. Here are the results of the data collected online from 114 leaders and leader candidates: The leaders and leader candidates had training about qualitative and quantitative research methods, in the creative drama workshops they used mostly oral evaluation techniques as formative evaluation, in general they didn't record the evaluation results, substantially they didn't give feedback to the participants, their opinion on using measurement and evaluation is at medium or low level.

The creative and dynamic practices that multilinguals perform with linguistic and non-linguistic features such as the body, movement, senses, and space have been documented as integral to their repertoire. Drawing on interdisciplinary literature, this article advances the concept of the repertoire through translanguaging drama as a pedagogical practice and examines the resources that can be volitionally mobilised through language learners' perezhivanie, or the emotional, felt and lived through experience. Translanguaging drama was implemented in two English language programmes with adult learners in Canada. While these courses focused on improving English language skills, translanguaging drama was implemented to activate learners' perezhivanie while using their repertoire, which not only facilitated communication in the English language but pushed for agency in using non-linguistic resources. I examine learners' perezhivanie with a subset of data, which included observation notes and learner diary entries. In this article, I emphasize four main interrelated areas: (1) volition and empowerment, (2) meaning-making across languages, (3) embodiment of languagethrough voice modulation, facial expression, and body language-, and (4) language choice triggered by perezhivanie. Implications of the study for furthering the theorisation of language, language learning and the repertoire are discussed.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, yüksek sınav kaygısı olan ortaokul ve lise öğrencileriyle yapılan yaratıcı drama grup çalışmasının öğrencilerin sınav kaygısı düzeyi üzerindeki etkililiğini ölçmektir.
Sınav kaygısı, özellikle merkezi sınavlara hazırlanan ortaokul ve lise öğrencilerinin performanslarını düşüren önemli bir etmendir. Bu nedenle öğrencilere sınav kaygısıyla başa çıkma becerisi kazandırmayı hedefleyen etkinlikler, okul rehberlik hizmeti çalışmalarının başında gelmektedir. Yaratıcı drama, psikolojik danışma ve rehberlik hizmetlerinde gittikçe artan bir uygulama alanına sahip olmasına rağmen sınav kaygısı konusunda kullanıldığına fazla rastlanmamaktadır. Oysa yaratıcı drama, kendini tanımaya katkı sağlaması, yaratıcı ve esnek düşünmeyi geliştirmesi ve problem çözme becerilerini artırması gibi özellikleri ile sınav kaygısının azaltılmasında oldukça etkili olabilir. Bu varsayımdan hareketle bu çalışmada öğrencilerle yaratıcı drama grup çalışması yapılmış ve çalışmanın sınav kaygısı üzerindeki etkililiğinin ölçülmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma İstanbul Kadıköy’den 15 rehber öğretmen ve 134 öğrencinin katılımıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Katılımcı rehber öğretmenler özellikle sınavkaygısı ile başa çıkmaya odaklanan yaratıcı drama eğitimi ve süpervizyon desteği almışlardır. Sekiz hafta süren bu oturumları eş zamanlı olarak okullarında oluşturdukları öğrenci gruplarıyla gerçekleştirmişlerdir. Araştırmada tek gruplu ön test – son test uygulamalı yarı deneysel model kullanılmıştır. Veriler “Sınav Kaygısı Ölçeği” ile toplanmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları, tüm öğrencilerin birlikte değerlendirildiklerinde tüm alt boyutlardaki ve toplamdaki kaygı puanlarında anlamlı fark oluştuğunu göstermiştir. Okul kademesi ve cinsiyete gore değerlendirildiklerinde ise bazı alt boyutlarda yaratıcı drama çalışmasının anlamlı fark oluşturmadığı görülmüştür.

Bu çalışmada yaratıcı drama alanının öncülerinden olan Brian Way'ın yaratıcı drama yaklaşımının ve alana getirdiği katkıların incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi ve tam yapılandırılmış görüşmeye dayalı biyografi k çalışma türünde gerçekleştirilen araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak tam yapılandırılmış görüşme, doküman inceleme kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada Brian Way'ın yaratıcı drama yaklaşımını incelemek üzere araştırmacı tarafından görüşme soruları hazırlanmış ve hazırlanan görüşme soruları iki farklı alan uzmanı tarafından değerlendirilerek geliştirilmiştir. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından 16 sorudan oluşan bir görüşme formu hazırlanmış ve 30 farklı doküman incelenmiştir. İncelenen dokümanların 2 tanesi Brian Way tarafından kaleme alınmış yazılar 28 tanesi ise başka araştırmacı ve alan uzmanlarının Way'a ilişkin yaptığı çalışmalar olmuştur. Araştırmaya ilişkin elde edilen veriler çözümlenmiş, İngilizce'den Türkçe 'ye çevrilmiş, verilerin çözümlenmesinde yorumlayıcı betimsel analizden yararlanılmıştır. Bu araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular, Brian Way'ın, bireylerin gelişimini temel aldığı yaratıcı drama yaklaşımıyla, bilinçli, kendi öz anlatım biçimini bulmuş, toplumla sorgulayarak ve barışçıl bir yolla bütünlük sağlamış tümel bireylerin yaratılmasını amaçlayan bir model ortaya koyduğunu göstermektedir. The purpose of this study is to search the contrubiton of Brian Way's unique approachment which were developed by him for the fi eld of drama in education. Way is one of the pioneer's in the world for the fi eld of drama in education.In this study, documents survey and whole-structured-biographical study, which is a type of method for making qualitative research,. was used by the researcher. Whole-structured interview, documents survey were used for data collection by the researcher for this study. For composing the data collection devices, sixteen questions interview form was prepared and thirty different documents were scanned by the researcher. The sixteen interview questions which were prepared by the researcher for investigation of Brian Way's approachment of development through drama, were examined and developed by two other experts in the fi eld before the interview. The two of scanned documents were written by Brian Way, the other twenty-eight documents were written about him by the other experts and researchers in the fi eld. For analysing the datas, the researcher primarily dechipered the interview texts. Then, the researcher translated the dechipered interview texts with the other written documents from English to Turkish. Datas were analyzed by using interpretive descriptive analysis.

Ülkemizde yaratıcı drama çalışmalarının olumlu etkisi hızla artmakta olup hem kişisel hem de bilimsel anlamda yaratıcı drama çalışmaları kuramsal ve uygulamalı boyutlarda gelişmeye devam etmektedir. Bu kitapta sunulan teorik temelin ve öğretim programının, yabancı dil olarak Arapça öğrenenlerin hayal güçlerinin ve Arapça konuşma becerilerinin gelişmesine katkı sağlaması hedeflenmektedir. Oyunlardan ritim ve dansa, pantomimden doğaçlamaya, bilinç koridorundan hikâye anlatıcılığına kadar ders planı, etkinlik ve uygulama örnekleriyle desteklenerek yaratıcı dramanın Arapça öğretiminde bir yöntem olarak kullanılmasına zemin hazırlayan bu kitap, sözlü iletişim becerileri ve konuşma becerisi dersleri için aydınlatıcı bir materyal olarak sunulmuştur.

Türkiye’de yabancı dil olarak Arapça öğretimi son yıllarda büyük önem kazanmıştır. Özellikle dil becerileri öğretimi alanında yapılan çalışmalar incelendiğinde sözlü iletişim becerileri olan dinleme ve konuşma becerilerinin geliştirilmesine dair çalışmaların arttığı görülmektedir. Yabancı dil öğretiminde sözlü iletişimi güçlendiren unsurların öğretimi de önem arz etmektedir. Bu unsurlardan biri de iletişimi ve dinleyiciye iletilen mesajın anlaşılmasını güçlendiren deyimler ve kalıp ifadelerdir. Özellikle içerdiği anlam ve mesajın üstü örtülü olması ve kalıp ifadelerden oluşması sebebiyle deyimlerin öğretiminde bazı zorluklar yaşanmaktadır. Deyimlerin öğretiminde yaşanan bu problemlerin giderilmesi ve öğretimi daha etkin ve kalıcı hale getirmek için bazı yöntem ve teknikler kullanılmaktadır. Tiyatro ve drama yöntemleri de sınıf içi öğretimde sıkça kullanılan bir yöntemdir. Ancak Arapça öğretim materyalleri incelendiğinde çeşitli edebi tür ve sanatlara yer verilirken tiyatro metinleri ve yöntemlerine dayalı materyallerin sınırlı olduğu görülmektedir. Tiyatro metinlerinin öğretim programının temel dil becerilerine ilişkin olarak belirlediği kazanımları karşılayabilecek nitelikte olduğu ifade eden çalışmalar esas alınarak Arapça deyimlerin tiyatrolaştırılarak öğretiminin, bu ifadelerin zihinde kalıcılığını artıracağı düşünülmektedir. Çalışmanın ilk adımında tiyatro yönteminin Arapça öğretimindeki rolü, tiyatro metinlerinin sınıf içinde kullanımı ve ders planının hazırlanma sürecine dair bilgiler sunulmuştur. İkinci adımda, Arapça Cezâ-u Sinnimâr )جزاء سنّمار( deyimi, bir öğretim yöntemi olarak kullanılan tiyatro formatında hikayeleştirilecek olup ardından tiyatro odaklı bir ders planı sunulmuştur. Öğrencilerin birbiriyle etkileşimini artırmak ve özgüvenini güçlendirerek hem sözlü iletişim becerilerini geliştirmeyi hem de öğrencilerin deyimleri sözlü iletişimde etkin kullanmalarını amaçlayan bu çalışmanın, Arapça deyimlerin tiyatro ve drama yöntemleriyle öğretimine dair sunulan örnek ve ders planının öğrenilen ifadelerin zihinde kalıcılığını artıracağı, öğrencilerin Arapça günlük ifadelerinde de sözlü iletişim becerilerini güçlendireği ve Arapça öğreticilerine katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.

The creative drama is a branch of the theater that takes care of the child before it draws on the scene, revealing its demands, desires and abilities by using motion and plays, imitation and replication. The creative drama, along with emotional games, participation and active communication with the group helps mental health of the child.The purpose of this study was to examine the application and ability of drama in the creation of the child's thinking and questioning as well as creative mentality, and to examine the role of constructive elements (motion-dialogue-play and imagination) and their ability to develop the child's mind and mental by contemplating the effectiveness of the creative drama on mental activation of person, society and thinking production. For this purpose, 25 children aged 5-7 years were trained by creative drama. The research sample has been selected by non-random and accessible (targeted) method. By conducting creative drama classes, the children's behaviors tested in artistic activities and increase of participation in group activities. In this research, a researcher-made questionnaire with 25 questions was constructed based on Likert scale and its reliability was calculated based on Cronbach's alpha using SPSS software. Reliability was obtained as 0.93% which was estimated at acceptable level. The results show that creative drama has a significant effect on children's creativity.

Abstract

Theatre pedagogy is a rapidly developing area of research in teaching. The concept originates from the parallels between a child’s symbolic play and an actor’s playing experience. However, dramatic activity and child play differ in intention, quality of spontaneity, practice and demonstration. Teacher's guidance is crucial in transforming quality of dramatic experience, awareness and meaning into creative classroom drama. Distance devices, which a qualified teacher uses, are essential for reaching the curriculum goals through the very important phase of every dramatic activity – reflection. With a teacher's guidance symbolic play can transform into creative drama and becomes a meaningful learning experience for students.

Özet
Yirmi birinci yüzyılın küresel dünyası, boyutları itibariyle insanlığı tehdit eden sorunlarını gerek oluşum öncesi gerekse oluşum sonrası alınacak önlemlerle minimize etmeye çalışmaktadır. Ancak sorunların boyutlarının giderek daha da derinleşmesiyle birlikte devletler, toplumlar ve birey bazında bu konuda ne kadar başarılı olunduğu tartışması sıcaklığını korumaktadır. Okullar küreselleşen dünya sorunlarına evrensel yaklaşmalı ve küreselleşen dünya sorunlarıyla baş edebilecek şekilde öğrencilerini yetiştirmelidir. Bu açıdan okullarda öncelikle dünya sorunlarına dair bilgi, beceri ve tutum (farkındalık oluşturma) boyutunda ve bunu takiben dünya sorunlarının çözümüne dönük katılımı sağlama amaçlı bir eğitim verilmelidir. Yenilenen Sosyal Bilgiler programı (2017) incelendiğinde, gerek programın içeriği gerekse kazanım boyutunda küresel dünya sorunlara yer verildiği ancak öğretme-öğrenme sürecindeki eksik uygulamalar sebebiyle öğrencilerde dünya sorunlarına yönelik yeterince farkındalık oluşturulamadığı görülmektedir. Alan yazın incelendiğinde, genelde öğrencilerin dünya sorunlarına ilişkin aldıkları eğitimin “bilgi” boyutunda kaldığı, sorunlara karşı “tutum oluşturma ve çözümler getirme(eylem)” boyutuna ulaşamadıkları görülmektedir. Bu açıdan söyleyebiliriz ki, sınıf ortamında öğrencilere küresel sorunlara dair kazandırılacak bilgi, beceri ve tutumlar öncelikle öğretmenlerin sınıf içi uygulamalarıyla anlam kazanmaktadır. Yaratıcı drama; öğrencilerin kendilerini ifade edebildikleri, aktif oldukları, yaratıcılıklarını ortaya koydukları, yaparak ve yaşayarak öğrenmeyi destekleyen, eleştirel düşünmeyi geliştiren, öğrencilerin topluma ait olma ve toplumsal sorunlara karşı aidiyet duygusu kazanmalarını sağlayan ve bu açıdan özellikle kuraklık, göç, terörizm, çevre kirliliği, açlık, yoksulluk, küresel ısınma, küresel iklim değişikliği gibi küresel sorunların çözümüne karşı bir farkındalık oluşturmada etkili bir yöntem olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, ortaokul öğrencilerinde küresel sorunlara dair farkındalık oluşmasında yaratıcı drama yönteminin etkililiğini örnek uygulamalarla ortaya koymaktır. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yaklaşımına dayalı olgubilim deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Trabzon ilinin Ortahisar ilçesinde 7. sınıfta öğrenim görmekte olan 21 ortaokul öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak, öğrencilerin yaratıcı drama yönteminin etkileri hakkındaki görüşlerinin yazılı olarak alındığı mektuplar kullanılmıştır. Ayrıca ders esnasında araştırmacının yaratıcı drama yönteminin, öncesi ve sonrasıyla uygulanma süreciyle ilgili gözlem kayıtlarından da faydalanılmıştır. Araştırmada yaratıcı drama yöntemi, 7. sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler dersi “Küresel Bağlantılar” öğrenme alanı ve “Küresel Sorunlara Çözüm Üretiyorum” konusuna yönelik olarak planlanmış ve etkinlik dört hafta boyunca, haftada üç saat olmak üzere uygulanmıştır. Öğrencilerin yazılı görüşlerinden elde edilen veriler içerik analizine tabi tutulmuş ve yaratıcı drama hakkındaki öğrencilerin görüşleri tema ve kodlarla kategorize edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin yazılı görüşlerinden elde edilen bulgulara göre; öğrenciler yaratıcı drama temelli dersleri daha eğlenceli ve merak artırıcı, yaratıcılıklarını geliştirici, grup içi etkileşimi artırıcı, sosyalleşmeyi sağlayıcı, toplumsal sorunlara duyarlılığı artırıcı ve etkili öğrenmeyi sağlayıcı olarak ifade etmişlerdir. Öğretmenler sosyal bilgiler derslerinde rol oynama, rol değiştirme, pandomim, doğaçlama, zihinde canlandırma, bağımsız dramatizasyon, bağımlı dramatizasyon gibi çeşitli drama tekniklerini etkili bir şekilde kullanabilirler.

Abstract
The global world of the twenty-first century, tries to minimize the problems that threaten humanity in terms of its dimensions with the measures to be taken both pre and post-formation. However, combined with the deepening of the dimensions of the problems, discussion on how successful it is on the basis of states, societies and individuals remains warm. Today, on the basis of every global problem that deeply shakes the world, countries, societies and individuals; we see that attitude and behavior that irresponsible, ignoring problems, ignoring the limits of sustainability. In this context, the importance of the educational experiences that start in the family and then continue with formal dimension (preschool, secondary education and higher education) is gradually increasing against the global problems of today's world and changing the negative attitudes and behaviors that may occur in the process from the beginning to the solution and raising individuals who are aware of the global problems. Today, the competence and scope of education, which is a process of changing and shaping behavior, is very important in order to create awareness and sensitivity about preventing and solving global world problems on students in schools. Schools should approach the globalizing world problems universally and educate their students to cope with the globalizing world problems. In this respect, should be given education that first of all in the dimension of knowledge, skills and attitudes (awareness raising) about world problems and then to provide participation in the solution of world problems. When the revised Social Studies program (2017) is examined, it is seen that global world problems are included in both the content of the program and the program acquisition dimension, but it is not possible to raise awareness about the world problems in the students due to the lack of applications in the teaching-learning process. When the literature is examined, in general, it is seen that the education of the students about the world problems remains in the ”knowledge” dimension and students do not reach the dimension of “creating attitudes and solutions (action) against problems. In this respect, we can say that the knowledge, skills and attitudes to be gained to the students about the global problems in the classroom environment primarily make sense through the classroom practices of the teachers. Creating active learning environments in which students are involved in the learning-teaching process, where they exchange ideas, discuss, socialize and contribute to the solution of a problem and to include active learning methods and techniques that support cognitive, affective and psycho-motor learning in classroom practices is very important for meaningful learning. Undoubtedly, the creative drama that the teacher guides the student, enables the student to participate in the learning environment, learns by living by doing to student, and reveals cognitive, affective and psycho-motor behaviors is one of the methods that enable meaningful learning. Creative drama is an effective method that students are able to express themselves, are active, demonstrate their creativity, support learning by doing and living, improve critical thinking, helps students gain a sense of belonging to the community and belonging to social problems and to creative awareness against the solution of global problems such as drought, migration, terrorism, environmental pollution, hunger, poverty, global warming and global climate change. The aim of this study is to reveal the effectiveness of creative drama method in creating awareness about global problems with sample applications in secondary school students. The study based on the qualitative research approach was used the phenomenology design. The study group of the study consists of 21 secondary school students studying in 7th grade in the Ortahisar district of Trabzon. As a data collection tool were used letters in which the students' opinions about the effects of creative drama method were taken in writing. In addition, the researcher's observation records about the application of creative drama method were used during the course. In the research, the creative drama method was planned for the 7th grade social studies course “Global Connections” learning area and subject of “I am creating solutions to global problems”, and the activity was applied for four weeks, three hours per week. The data obtained from the written opinions of the students were subjected to content analysis and the views of students about creative drama method are categorized with themes and codes. According to the findings obtained from the written opinions of the students; students expressed that creative drama-based lessons as more fun and curiosity-enhancing improving their creativity, increasing intra-group interaction, providing socialization, increasing sensitivity to social problems and providing effective learning. Teachers can effectively use various drama techniques such as role playing, role changing, pantomime, improvisation, visualization, independent dramatization and dependent dramatization in social studies classes.

The aim of the current study was to synthesize the findings of experimental studies addressing the effect of the creative drama method on the skills of students. Research data were derived from ProQuest Citations, Web of Science, Google Academic, National Thesis Center, EBSCO, ERIC, Taylor & Francis Online, and ScienceDirect databases using keywords such as drama, and skill. A total of 63 research studies including twenty articles, thirty-four master’s and nine doctoral theses, which met the inclusion criteria of meta-analysis, formed the data source of the current study. The collected data were analyzed by using the Comprehensive Meta Analysis program. To address the heterogeneity of the studies, the random effects model were employed to calculate the effect size. The results of the research showed that creative drama method positively affected the skills of students. In experimental studies, the differences in the effect created by the creative drama on students' skills were examined in terms of moderator variables. While the effect size of creative drama on students’ skills was found to be significantly varying depending on the moderator variables including the duration of experimental application, the level of schooling and the publication type, it was found that the effect size was not significantly varying depending on the moderator variables of practitioner and types of skills.

It is most often the case when I refer to my work as experimental animation that I am met with the question, what is experimental animation? I am instantly reminded of a story about Louis Armstrong in conversation with Johnny Carson who asked Armstrong, “What is jazz?” Louis Armstrong enthusiastically responded, “Well if you don’t know what it is, I sure as hell can’t tell you!”

In some ways, Louis Armstrong’s response might be said to be universal for questions having to do with art, in that any attempt to offer definition tends to further confuse, bind, constrict and/or be irrelevant, rather than to clarify meaning. As a scholar and as an artist, I am most interested in the unanswerable. As I understand it, to ask the unanswerable is the beginning of an event … if you will, an event of language, timing and gesture, experimentation and conceptualizing. The more important consideration in a “what is ____?” question is not the answer, but the asking.. How is it we know so little about the art form?

This research investigates how creative drama helps EFL teachers and what EFL teachers know about creative drama. Data was collected from 6 participants one of whom is a creative drama leader and the last five of whom are EFL teachers from different schools. An interview including seven questions about L2 teaching process and creative drama usage was done with participants. Creative drama has lots of benefits for the L2 teaching process. But according to the research results , the usage of creative drama in EFL classrooms in Turkey does not reflect the reality of it's benefits. The reasons of that problem are related to different factors , for instance the education given candidate teachers at universities is not sufficient enough.

This is a study on the structure, development, and operations of Free Gift International Film and Theatre Ministry. The aim of the study is to have an in-depth understanding of the structure, development and operations of drama ministry using Free GIFT Ministry that was founded by Mr Ayotunde Yoloye on the 2 nd of September 1996 as a case study. The objectives of the study are the examination of the influence and effect of Evangelical Drama or Christian Drama in the propagation of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and societal transformation. This is a Qualitative study that involved an interview with Mr Ayotunde Yoloye, from the interactions, it became quite obvious that the Christian Drama Ministry operating through Christian stage plays and film productions are very significant and impactful in the spread of the gospel and teaching of biblical doctrines. It was discovered that the different themes of the productions dealt with vices in the society and solutions to them, resulting in transformation at different levels of the society.

üzerindeki etkisi incelenmiştir. Araştırma, Çağdaş Kadın ve Gençlik Vakfı
75. Yıl Toplum Merkezi’nde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma, kontrol gruplu ön
test-son test modelinin kullanıldığı deneysel bir çalışmadır. Araştırmanın
bağımsız değişkeni araştırma gruplarına uygulanan programdır, bağımlı
değişkeni ise kadınların özsaygı düzeyidir. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı
olarak, Coopersmith Özsaygı Envanteri kullanılmıştır. Deney grubuna
araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen “Yaratıcı Drama Yöntemiyle Özsaygı
Geliştirme Programı” 12 oturum olarak uygulanmıştır. Her bir oturum
yaklaşık 180 dakika olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada nitel veriler elde
edilmiştir. Deney ve kontrol gruplarının özsaygı düzeyleri arasında anlamlı
bir fark olup olmadığı ve bu farkın uzun süreli olup olmadığını belirlemek
amacıyla, parametrik olmayan analiz tekniği kullanılmıştır. Bulgular, deney
grubunda bulunan kadınların başlangıç düzeyine ve kontrol grubunda
bulunan kadınlara göre, özsaygı düzeylerinin anlamlı düzeyde arttığını ve bu
artışın etkisinin uzun süreli olduğunu ortaya koymuştur.

This study investigated the effect of students' attitudes towards museum educational
activities prepared by the method of creative drama. Research within the scope of the museum can be
used for educational purposes and the importance of the sculptures and imagination in the museum and
is intended to teach awareness of the requirements. During the 2014-2015 academic year in ongoing
research first Ondokuz Mayıs University has been working with student teachers from 54. Students in
Samsun city museum was continued in 6-hour workshop. As a data collection tool in working, developed
by the researchers "Attitudes survey form for the Museum" and "Workshop Evaluation Form" is used.
Evaluation of the data was made from content analysis of qualitative research methods. According to
the results subject of sculpture at the museum committed to creative drama, but overview of the
museum has changed the way and Them was understood that they have got hold of both imagination
and sculpture to realize that how important place in our lives. Students changed their perspectives and
lessons from the museum stated that the museum will not be processed and used as a learning
environment. They often think that museums are attractions that crawl quickly.

Öz Dini ve kültürel ritüellerin aktarımı bireyin kişisel gelişimi ve toplumsal uyumu açısından önem taşımaktadır. Ritüellerin bireysel, kültürel ve toplum-sal yönlerini keşfetme, anlama ve bu yolla içinde yaşanılan çevreyi anlamlan-dırma eğitimin amaçlarındandır. Eğitimde drama uygulamaları katılımcıların; yaratıcılık, eleştirel düşünme, empati kurma, iletişim becerilerini geliştirme, ötekini tanıma, farklılıklara saygı duyma gibi çeşitli yeterlik ve becerileri ge-liştirmelerine olanak sağlayan eğitim ortamları sunmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı da ritüellerin yaratıcı drama yoluyla öğretiminin öğrenciler ve eğitim süreci üzerindeki etkilerini tespit etmektir. Bu amaçla 16 ortaokul öğrencisinin katılımıyla abdest ve namaz, ramazan ayı ve oruç, kurban bayramı, Muharrem Ayı ve Aşure ve Hıdırellez ritüellerinin merkeze alındığı yaratıcı drama otu-rumları gerçekleştirilmiş ve öğrencilerden odak grup görüşmesi yoluyla veri toplanmıştır. İletişim geçmişte olduğu gibi günümüzde de tartışılmaz bir biçimde temel ihtiyaçtır. Bu
ihtiyacın gerçekleştirilmesinde teorik yaklaşımlar terk edilerek uygulamalı alanlara daha çok
önem verilir. Özellikle yaratıcılık, iletişimde vazgeçilemez bir araç hâline gelmeye başlar.
Yaratıcı drama hakkında yapılan bilimsel çalışmalara göz atıldığında, sayısal olarak çok
görünmekle birlikte, nitelik ve sınırlılık açısından aynı şey söylenememektedir. Bu sebeple
özellikle Türkçe eğitiminde yaratıcı dramanın kullanım ve geçerliliği ile ilgili elde edilen
teorik bilgiler ışığında yapılan deneysel çalışma sonuçları, bu konunun ne denli önemli
olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Deneysel olarak seçilen grubun özellikleri ve ilişkileri dikkate
alındığında, verilerin değerlendirme ve sonuçların analizi açısından dikkat çekici bir noktaya
varılır. Türkçe dersi kapsamında oluşturulan uygulamada, diğer yöntemlerin etkililiğinin
tartışılmasından öte, çalışmaya esas olan yaratıcı dramanın sonuçları daha çok dikkate
alınmıştır. Uygulama esnasında öncelikle alışkanlıklar tespit edilmiş, ardından da verilen
eğitim sonucunda alışkanlıklardaki değişiklikler gözlenmiş ve aralarında belirgin
farklılıkların olduğu gözlenmiştir. Böylece yaratıcı dramanın akademik başarıda etkililiği açık
bir biçimde ortaya konmuştur. 56 saatlik bir atölye çalışması, kayıt altına alınarak gözlem
formları vasıtasıyla, birbirinden bağımsız biçimde değerlendirilmiştir. 14 hafta sonunda deney
ve kontrol grubu öğrencileriyle son test uygulaması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada veri
toplama amacıyla kullanılan form ve materyaller, alt problemlere göre belirlenerek
özelleştirilmiştir. “Dinleme/İzleme Becerisi Gözlem Formu” ile “Konuşma Becerisi Gözlem
Formu”, nicel verileri nitel verilerle kıyaslayabilmek amacıyla “Öğrenci Günlükleri”, atölye
kamera kayıtları ve araştırmacı tarafından doldurulan “Raportör Günlüğü” kullanılmıştır.
Kişisel Veri Bilgi Formu, Dinleme/İzleme Becerisi Gözlem Formu ve Konuşma Becerisi
Gözlem Formuna yönelik verilerin ilk ve son analizlerinde SPSS 21.0 Paket Programı, öğrenci
ve raportör günlüklerinin analizinde ise NVIVO 9.0 Paket Programı kullanılmıştır. Araştırma
sonucunda yaratıcı drama temelli olarak hazırlanan atölye modelinin deney grubunda
anlamlı derecede akademik başarı artışını sağladığı nitel ve nicel veriler aracılığıyla tespit
edilmiştir.

In today’s world, scientific and technological developments are on the rise every day. These changes are reflected on the perspective towards education and lead to radical changes and updates in the education systems. As a result of these changes which are based on the reformation of the elements of the education and teaching processes, new approaches, methods and techniques have come out. Education system in Turkey was re-built on the basis of restructuring approach by being affected by these developments in the year 2005. Within this scope, there were many important changes that took place in social sciences education programs. Within the concept of fields and facts such as history, geography, economy, human’s rights, civics, law and democracy, raising individuals that can be aware of their physical, emotional features as well as their interest, need and capabilities as free individuals was determined as the main purpose. In conformity with this purpose, the need to provide the individual with a learning environment, where the individual can feel safe inside, release emotions with control, develop decision making and problem solving abilities has come out. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the social studies teachers’ views on using drama as a teaching method in social studies education. In order to achieve this purpose, interviews had been made with 22 social studies teachers. The method of this research is qualitative and the research design of this research is phenomenology. The research data were collected wtih a semi-structured interview form. Collected data were analyzed with descriptive analysis. The views of the participants about the use of creative drama were presented in the graphics with frequency and percentages. The findings of the study prove that the teachers don’t use creative drama method enough level and they have some problems about implementation of the method.

The students are expected to be a creative problem solver in creative drama course providing higher levels of thinking. Because, even if creative thinking seems to have a condition that can occur at a time, in fact it is thought to be increased with a good education. In this study, we investigated the effects of creative drama course on problem-solving skills of pre-service teachers in the 2 nd grade of maths department. The study was conducted with a total of 18 students studying at the department of Primary Mathematics Teaching in a university in the Black Sea region of Turkey in the second term of the 2014-2015 academic year. In the study, as a data collection tool, two creative problems developed VanGundy (2005) were used and adapted into Turkish by the researchers. In analysing the data, the solution of applied problems have been studied as to the situations of the creative product. Research was conducted through content analysis of qualitative research methods. The data obtained to ensure the reliability of the study was submitted to the opinion of two experts and correspondence percentage was calculated. As a result, the students having taken creative drama course have been found to have a positive perspective on the creative problems. But we determined that the students had difficulty in producing original ideas. We observed that they behave in a more comfortable andthey are more willing to say their ideas as they solve the problems as in groups. As a result of the findings, we determined that the maths students having taken creative drama course are successful in creative problem solving.
