La prevención de riesgos laborales es una ciencia multidiscipli-naria que se dedica a identificar, evaluar y controlar los riesgos en el lugar de trabajo, así por ejemplo la Higiene Industrial se dedica-con el concurso de otras ciencias-a la identificación, evaluación y control de los agentes ambientales presentes en el lugar de trabajo. Ya que el control es el fin que perseguimos es imperativo una correcta identificación y evaluación de los agen-tes ambientales. En este contexto y teniendo en cuenta que el ruido es actualmente el contaminante más difundido, no sólo en el ámbito laboral, presentamos el siguiente estudio para realizar una correcta identificación de las fuentes de ruido por medio de la adecuada caracterización en base a variables acústicas. La caracterización de las fuentes de ruido es sumamente im-portante, ya que las medidas de control posteriores, desde el control en el origen, en el medio y en el receptor (Equipo de Protección Personal) dependerán de las variables acústicas, es decir, de las características sonoras de ruido. Con el uso de un sonómetro integrador con bandas de octava podemos no solo medir la intensidad, sino las distintas fre-cuencias provenientes de una fuente de ruido y del ambiente, para poder seleccionar las mejores medidas de control, acorde con las características sonoras de la fuente. El presente trabajo muestra la aplicación de una metodología que permita una correcta caracterización de la fuente sonora para una posterior evaluación y selección de las mejores alter-nativas de control. Luego del presente estudio encontramos que las fuentes de ruido evaluadas en las mismas condiciones tienen diferencias no sólo en el nivel de presión sonora, sino que las distintas graficas muestran diferencias en el espectro de frecuencias, la cantidad de eventos sonoros que sobrepasan determinados niveles de presión sonora y también, respecto al tiempo.

through  the  outer  ear,  are  modulated  by  the  middle  ear  and  are
transmitted to the vestibulocochlear nerve in the inner ear. This nerve
transmits  information  to  the  temporal  lobe  of  the  brain,  where  it  is
registered  as  sound.  A  sound  that  travels  through  the  outer  ear
impacts  on  the  tympanic  membrane  (ear  drum)  and  causes  it  to
vibrate.  The  three  ossicles  transmit  this  sound  to  a  second  window
(the oval window) which protects the fluid-filled inner ear. In detail,
the pinna of the outer ear helps to focus a sound, which impacts on
the tympanic membrane. The malleus rests on the membrane and
receives the vibration. This vibration is transmitted along the incus
and  stapes  to  the  oval  window.  Two  small  muscles,  the  tensor
tympani and stapedius, also help modulate noise. The tensor tympani
dampens  noise  and  the  stapedius decrease the  receptivity  to  highfrequency noise. Vibration of the oval window causes vibration of
the  endolymph  within  the  ventricles  and  cochlea.  The  hollow
channels of the inner ear are filled with liquid and contain a sensory
epithelium that is studded with hair cells. The microscopic "hairs" of
these cells are structural protein filaments that project out into the
fluid. The hair cells are mechanoreceptors that release a chemical
neurotransmitter  when  stimulated.  Sound  waves  moving  through
fluid flows against the receptor cells of the Organ of Corti. The fluid
pushes the filaments of individual cells; movement of the filaments
causes  receptor  cells  to  become  open  to  the  potassium-rich
endolymph. This causes the cell to depolarize and creates an action
potential that is transmitted along the spiral ganglion, which sends
information  through  the  auditory  portion  of  the  vestibulocochlear
nerve to the temporal lobe of the brain. The human ear can generally
hear sounds with frequencies between 20 Hz and 20 kHz. Although hearing requires an intact and functioning auditory portion of the
central nervous system as well as a working ear, human deafness
(extreme insensitivity to sound) most commonly occur because of
abnormalities of the inner ear, rather than in the nerves or tracts of
the  central  auditory  system.  Sound  below  20 Hz  is  considered
infrasound, which the ear cannot process.
It has been proven that the use of mobile phones increases the risk
of acquiring cancer. This is due to the emission of electromagnetic
radiation, the electromagnetic radiation makes their way through
the ear and cause thermal heating to the most parts of the brain by
degradation  of  DNA  strands  at  that  particular  region.  These
radiation waves cause various cancers such as glioma, meningioma
and acoustic neuroma.

To compare the sensitivity and variability of pupil perimetry with visual perimetry at the same retinal locations in normal subjects. Pupil perimetry was performed on the right and left eyes of 10 normal subjects using a computerized infrared pupillometer equipped to present perimetric light stimuli and record pupil light reflexes. Eleven locations were tested at different intensities along the horizontal meridian of each eye, and the decibel sensitivity of the pupil light reflex was compared with the visual threshold at the same location. The shape and height of the hill of vision (retinal sensitivity) was very similar between the right and left eyes of each individual using either pupil perimetry (R2 = 0.69) or standard threshold perimetry (R2 = 0.62) but was less similar between subjects.
