This paper is about Sapphires. The Sapphires is an Australian dramatic and comedy movie about four women singers. In May 2012, it premiered in Australia during the Cannes Festival. The Movie is about a group of indigenous women, Gail Julie, Kay, and Cynthia, who decide to form a music group after being discovered by a scout.  In 1968, they travel to Vietnam to sing for the military troops during the war. The production of the movie began in 2010, after the selection of all the four members of “The Sapphires group”, and the filming took place in a variety of locations in Vietnam, New South Wales, and Australia.

El presente trabajo describe el grado de participación de padres y madres de niños de primaria del estado de Yucatán, en México, en las actividades educativas de sus hijos. Con base en juicio de expertos y en referentes de la literatura, se diseñó una escala tipo Lickert con 36 ítems para evaluar la participación, que fue administrada a 106 padres de
familia de alumnos de una escuela primaria pública de la ciudad de Mérida, capital de Yucatán. Los resultados muestran que la escala tiene un coeficiente de confiabilidad aceptable (alfa de Crombach = 0.92) y que su estructura subyacente, después de un análisis factorial con rotación varimax, consiste en tres factores principales: 1)Comunicación con la escuela; 2) Comunicación con el hijo, y 3) Conocimiento de la
escuela. En general, la participación de los padres en las actividades educativas de los hijos se clasificó como baja o precaria, especialmente en lo referido a los factores de Comunicación y Conocimiento de la escuela, mientras las madres presentaron un nivel de participación significativamente mayor en ambos factores. Las implicaciones de los
resultados para la escuela y la investigación sobre participación paterna en el proceso educativo, se discuten a la luz de los resultados.

Compared to the few public higher education institutions in the prewar era, postwar Somalia boasts a large number of academic institutions at the tertiary level, mainly as privately owned universities. Although these community-initiated academic establishments are making tremendous contributions to the higher education sector, particularly in the absence of an effective national government, one can argue that much still remains at stake in terms of evaluation and quality assurance, key elements necessary for institutional accreditation and acceptance of credentials by other educational establishments issuing the same level of certificates. In this essay we aim to provide an overview discussion of the trends of higher education in Somalia and the way forward for newly emerged institutions, which have taken the bold initiative of changing the landscape of Somalia’s higher education.

Although a great paucity exists in scholarly studies on education in Somalia, the scarcity is more evident in the English studies area, particularly English as a Second Language (ESL) or English as a Foreign Language (EFL) (used interchangeably in this study), where almost none had existed until Mohamed Eno's MA TESOL Dissertation in 2005 and his recent article in the Journal of Somali Studies in 2017. Influenced by both the paucity and the latter study in 2017 1 , which recommended further examination of ESL/EFL area studies, this research investigates EFL students' perceptions of what they consider as more motivating or most motivating skill among the four second language acquisition (SLA) skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing. 2 Consequently, the results reveal that learners do not perceive more listening as a very motivating factor compared to more speaking, identified as the most motivating skill and ahead of more writing in the overall ratings. With very low results on the whole, more reading, on the other hand, is much below both speaking and writing in significance, though ahead of listening as a potential motivator. Interestingly, the findings also reveal persistent learner misunderstanding of the interlinkedness of the four skills, with a misperception that acquisition of one skill is independent of the others, as captured from an analysis of the vagaries in their responses.

Labeling theory has long held a rather significant place in sociology generally, and in symbolic interaction more specifically. Yet, in its long history, labeling theorists have seldom considered how interactional contexts mediate the effective application of labels. Similarly, labeling theory, with its focus on deviance, has largely neglected positive instances of labeling. In this article, I consider an instance of labeling in a tutoring session and show how the local interactional context of the application of a label is accomplished such that the label “smarter than you think” is made to stick to the student. In doing so, I demonstrate how labeling theory can be productively extended to consider positive labeling as well as the interactional contexts that mediate these labeling processes. In closing, I propose that this approach could help develop labeling theory into a complex and nuanced theory of the social constitution of human behavior.

Likewise, this study aims to identify influence of preference of a Senior High School track that is commonly encountered by the Grade 10 students in terms of Gender, Socio-Economic Status, Average academic grades, nature of parent’s occupation; and, strand and the level of influence of the respondent  to be associated with preferences in choosing a track in senior high school in terms of family influence-decision; peer influence; financial condition; and employability. The research tool was a survey questionnaire. The questionnaire is composed of respondent’s profile and 10 statements to be rated. This century has fondly been called the android
generation because of the explosion of technology in
unprecedented dimensions. knowledge of and ability to use
technological gadgets and information communication and
technology(ICT) is almost indispensable in all areas of human
life. Education and especially higher education, is one of those
arenas where such technologies are rife. Graduates destinations
could be variously affected or determined by the possession or
not of ICT competences which have become some of the
determiners of smooth transitions from higher education to the
world of work. Using the University of Yaounde1, this paper
finds out the extent to which the use of digital technology in the
teaching/ learning process in Higher education in Cameroon,
can affect graduate destinations in terms of finding a good
paying job. The methodology consisted in using questionnaires
constructed in the format of the Likert scale, to collect data. The
data was analyzed using the Spearman correlation. The
significance level was defined p≥ 0.05. Results revealed that
students from the University of Yaoundé1 are likely to swell the
ranks of unemployment in the country, if they are not recruited
by the government.The paper proposes a rigorous
implementation of the use of digital technologies and ICTs in
state universities to professionalize students before graduation.

These 110 riddle precedents and preferred answers were collected from Busoga communities by people who are enthusiastic about preserving the riddling culture in Busoga. Unfortunately, the source does not indicate who the performers were, at what event and on which day or year this happened. I have complied the list from different sources,  standardized the spellings and arranged them according to the answers. I hope this information can be used for very many different linguistic endeavors including that of performing the riddles in real life situations without encouraging rote learning.

This article draws on life history interviews of undocumented Mexican high school and university students from rural communities in central and eastern Washington. Although these youngsters face similar impediments to those of their
metropolitan counterparts, we find that they face a constellation of rural disadvantage. We highlight three important, interrelated, aspects: negative exposure to immigration enforcement activities, limited opportunities for educational assistance and poor community infrastructures to promote educational success. As undocumented young people
across the country navigate the day-to-day challenges of their legal limitations, scholars, policymakers and educators would be well served to take into consideration the ways in which local contexts differently shape pathways of incorporation.

Abstract: Obstinate actions-oriented behaviour is the study of learning and practicing behaviour theoractively, which is acquired from the content based, process based learning and spawning critical reflexivity to the learnt theoretical phenomena into practical actions. Obstinate actions-oriented behaviour is a multi-faceted behaviour that is generally
applied to gain success and to become effective through the ontology of theoractive learning. Obstinacy actions-orientation, in this study, is viewed in a positive light; and denotes a self-willed, natural and nurturing action towards the tenacious pursuit of a self-desired goal. This action is achieved by applying learning theories to practice, thus displaying theoractiveness, with self-willed obstinacy towards the individual goal or the organizational goal. Theoractive learning is grounded in content and process learning in order to generate critical reflexivity with which to judge and evaluate the learnt behaviour of an individual. This paper is conceptually designed and accumulates various relevant theoretical literature within organizations and leadership with a purpose to support the conceptual commentary. Terminologies used in this paper are precisely described and illustrated. The meanings were elucidated and supported by integrating the leadership theories. Theoretical consciousness can play a pivotal role in shaping an individual’s
competences, and in generating a theoractiveness; however, theories are often limited to content learning. Nonetheless, process-based orientation subconsciously implements these theories at a higher educational level. Obstinate actions orientation consists of both an
art-obstinacy and a science-obstinacy. Teaching by the “what method” is a science obstinate action, whereas, teaching by the “why and how” method is an art-obstinate action. Actions-oriented behaviour enables followership movement towards the leader’s desired conducive climate, creating a dominant leadership style within the context, and maintaining a leadership style fix.

The article deals with an epidemic that struck Athens during the Peloponnesian War of 431-404 BC. The main outbreak of the epidemic that developed in two stages occurred in 430-426 BC. Most of the information about the disease in Athens is reported by the historian Thucydides. The article analyzes the names of the disease used by the Athenian historian: νόσος, νόσημα, λοιμός, κακός. A quantitative and contextual analysis of their use was also carried out. Thucydides uses the word λοιμός in a specific way that gives this word an additional meaning of pestilence, what can now be called an epidemic. This is evident from the phrase λοιμώδης νόσος (a pestilent/contagious disease) (Thuc. 1.23.3), which reveals its infectious nature. Another important characteristic of Thucydides' use of the word λοιμός is that three times out of four, Thucydides uses it in the context of an ancient saying. This word and other vocabulary used by Thucydides allow us to assume that the historian was well aware of modern medical terminology reflecting the cutting-edge medical education of that epoch. The author also draws a parallel with the use of this vocabulary by the philosopher Plato, Thucydides’ younger contemporary. The article also considers the tradition of studying this kind of disease as described by Thucydides, with the main trend being a gradual identification of this disease with a variation of typhoid. The latter became possible due to the archaeological material from the Kerameikos excavations, namely, to the study of bone remains found in several collective burials. In the final part of the article, the impact of the epidemic on the Athenian paideia is touched upon: it can probably be seen through the depreciation of the humanistic component of the educational space. The decline in the population, including teachers, and the likely even greater decline in the child population, could not but have a negative impact on the moral state of Attica’s people during the epidemic, which was mentioned by Thucydides. The long-term adverse economic effect further exacerbated the situation, which ultimately resulted in the inhuman destruction of the Boeotian city of Mycalessus in 413 BC. In our opinion, this event can also be viewed as the effects of the disease on the outer paideia as well, because the attackers destroyed the largest school in this Boeotian city.

Introduction. Computer multiple choice tests are modern tool of assessment of students’ knowledge, which is objective, fast and looks like a computer game.
Goal. This paper presents a computer testing system, based on Microsoft Excel 2000/XP, aiming to be assessing tool in medicine.
Deskription. The system can generate and show on the computer screen various multiple-choice tests with one correct answer out of four possible. Only one question with its answers can appear on the screen at the time. The questions and their answers form a database, which shall be included in the system in advance. The user can derive various tests from the database, excluding the unnecessary questions and can arbitrary mix or not the remaining questions and/or answers.

melakukan pembangunan fisik karena tidak dapat dilihat secara kasat

dan kebijakan yang tepat. Jika bidang pendidikan maju, maka akan
mempercepat kemajuan daerah, khususnya di Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah,
yang pada akhirnya akan berkontribusi bagi pembangunan nasional.
Strategi dan kebijakan yang dirumuskan dalam buku ini mengacu
pada kondisi eksisiting, lingkungan eksternal dan internal pembangunan
pendidikan di Sulawesi Tengah. Selain itu juga didasarkan pada
peraturan-peraturan dan kebijakan pembangunan pendidikan yang
ditetapkan dari Pemerintah Pusat sebagaimana yang telah ditetapkan
dalam perencanaan pembangunan nasional. Rumusan strategi dan
alternatif kebijakan tersebut dapat dijadikan acuan bagi pemerintah
daerah di tingkat kabupaten/kota yang ada di Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah
dan dapat dimanfaatkan oleh provinsi-provinsi lain yang ada di
Indonesia.
