Este trabalho teve como objetivo usar técnicas dendrocronológicas para recuperar o crescimento
diamétrico e a idade média de espécies arbóreas estabelecidas sob um povoamento de Araucaria
angustifolia implantado em 1949 na Floresta Nacional de Irati, Paraná. Foram amostradas
30 árvores da espécie regenerante Araucaria angustifolia, 24 da espécie regenerante Cedrela fissilis,
24 da espécie regenerante Clethra scabra, 22 da espécie regenerante Ilex paraguariensis e 18 da
espécie regenerante Ocotea puberula. O modelo de Chapman-Richards foi utilizado para descrever
as curvas de crescimento em diâmetro por espécie, construindo-se curvas de incremento médio
anual (IMA) e incremento corrente anual (ICA). As espécies estudadas apresentaram grande
potencial para estudos dendrocronológicos e o uso dessa técnica permitiu determinar que a
regeneração natural iniciou-se em 1958 e que tinha, em média, 34 anos. A técnica possibilitou
também recompor o crescimento em diâmetro por espécie, gerando taxas de crescimento anuais,
com as quais se identificaram os anos característicos de alto e baixo crescimento.

Field experiments were conducted for three years during the rainy seasons of 2006 to 2008 at the Teaching and Research Farm of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma (Lat. 6 0 45 1 North and Long. 6 0 08' East and an altitude of 460 meters above sea level). Compound fertilizer (N.P.K.20:10:10) was applied at 0, 100, 200, 300 and 400 kg/ha to two varieties (Ashley and Palmetto) using a 2 x 5 factorial scheme replicated three times. Data were collected on vegetative traits, yield and yield components of cucumber and statistically analyzed. An experiment was conducted at experimental field of the Soil Science Division, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Gazipur, Bangladesh during the period from October 2008 to March 2009 to study the effect of vermicompost and conventional compost on the growth and yield of cauliflower. Maximum plant height (49.4 cm), number of leaves plant-1 (16.3), circumference of curd (46.5 cm), curd height (20.7 cm), total weight (1.60 kg plant-1), marketable weight (13.0 kg plant-1), curd yield (37.6 tha-1) and stover yield (29.7 tha-1) were found from T4 which was statistically identical with or followed by T8 and T5. From the experiment it was found that vermicompost was better that conventional compost in combination with chemical fertilizers.

An experiment was conducted at the Horticultural farm of Sher-e-Bangla agri cultural University, Bangladesh to find out the optimum cormel size for higher yield of mukhikachu during the period from February 2012 to March 2013. The experiment consisted three di fferent corm size viz. C1: Small size (5.0-7.5 g); C2: Medium size (7.5-10.0 g) and C3: Large size (10.0-12.5 g).
