espanolEntre los anos 1965 y 1967 el rea lizador frances Henri-Georges Clouzot y el director austriaco Herbert van Karajan trabajaron conjuntamente en la filmacion de Die Kunst des Dirigierens, un programa televisivo de aspiraclon divulgativa que presentaba la interpretacion musical desde una nueva perspectiva y que aspiraba a acercar las obras del repertorio clasico romantico centroeuropeo a unos espectadores que no frecuentaban las salas de conciertos. La gran meticulosidad con la que Clouzot fumo estas obras nos permite reflexionar sobre el concepto de representacion musical, as! como sobre los mecanismos de creacion artistica. Henri-George Clouzot’s The Mystery of Picasso (1956) and Lars von Trier’s and Jørgen Leth’s The Five Obstructions (2003) are celebrated experimental documentaries on the creative process in the visual arts and cinema made (or co-made) by renowned narrative film auteurs. Ludic exercises in on-and off-screen cinematic co-creation, together they foreground creativity and its constraints; artistic style and authorship; and filmmaking as simultaneously a means of personal expression and a collaborative enterprise. The main concerns of this article, both films are also marked by an overlapping self-reflexivity, intermediality, and formal hybridity, rooted in their innovative incorporation – or “nesting” – of pre-existing and in-progress art works (films, paintings, drawings). Focused on multiple forms of reflexivity and a distinctly process-based incorporation of works-within-the-work, juxtaposition of the films sheds new light on these dynamics generally, as well as on the styles and careers of Clouzot and Picasso, Leth and von Trier.

De Henri-Georges Clouzot à Abdellatif Kechiche, en passant par Maurice Pialat, la relation acteurs/ réalisateurs a souvent fait l’objet de polémiques et révèle des relations houleuses et passionnées faisant parfois partie intégrante du simulacre créatif et exhumant des jeux de pouvoir et de domination. Nous nous proposons ainsi d’analyser la relation complexe qui se tisse entre ces trois cinéastes et leurs acteurs afin de mettre en lumière une méthode de travail et de direction de l’acteur et d’interroger dans un même mouvement les notions de « vol de l’intime » et de mise à nu des acteurs.

Recension de l'ouvrage sur La Continental Films de l’historienne Christine Leteux. La Continental Films était une maison de production allemande basée à Paris et qui a produit trente films entre 1941 et 1944, dont certains chefs d’oeuvre comme Le Corbeau ou Les Inconnus dans la Maison. Cette histoire particulière de la Continental au sein du cinéma de Vichy est racontée de manière magistrale par le livre de Christine Leteux qui apporte un regard novateur sur le rôle et le fonctionnement de cette maison de production, comme le souligne Bertrand Tavernier dans la préface.

In 1942, in the midst of the German Occupation of France, Henri-George Clouzot adapted L’Assasin habite au 21 to the screen. In this piece, the mechanism of the detective story is used to create an atmosphere of distrust and suspicion that anticipates his masterpiece Le Corbeau. However, the film is also coated in a thick layer of comedy that disrupts the central theme. Surprisingly, six years later, the Argentinian director Carlo Hugo Christensen adapted the same source novel with similar results. In this paper, I will set out to identify the stylistic choices of both directors and how, not only their aesthetic concerns but also the political environment that surrounded the films, influence their outcome in cinema history.
