Platinum-based heterogeneous catalysts are critical to many important commercial chemical processes, but their efficiency is extremely low on a per metal atom basis, because only the surface active-site atoms are used. Catalysts with single-atom dispersions are thus highly desirable to maximize atom efficiency, but making them is challenging. Here we report the synthesis of a single-atom catalyst that consists of only isolated single Pt atoms anchored to the surfaces of iron oxide nanocrystallites. This single-atom catalyst has extremely high atom efficiency and shows excellent stability and high activity for both CO oxidation and preferential oxidation of CO in H2. Density functional theory calculations show that the high catalytic activity correlates with the partially vacant 5d orbitals of the positively charged, high-valent Pt atoms, which help to reduce both the CO adsorption energy and the activation barriers for CO oxidation.

Los procesos que signaron los orígenes de la tradición occidental pertenecen a la categoría de polythrýleta, “cosas muy discutidas”. La causa de ello radica en que la experiencia griega está transida de una mutación conceptual de surgimiento paulatino y recreación vertiginosa. En efecto, el acervo griego semeja a veces un animal mitológico constituido por partes inauditas y cualidades proteicas de transformación. Sin embargo, si se abandonan las perspectivas estáticas y compartimentadas, es posible desmontar esta apariencia monstruosa y encontrar en la base conformaciones germinales del imaginario ocultadas progresivamente por la sedimentación de ideas. Los trabajos que integran este volumen repasan en esta clave y con un enfoque dinámico distintas encrucijadas de mutación conceptual con el propósito de revelar los núcleos que constituyeron el pensamiento posterior.

The faculty of memory, comprising memorization and remembrance, is often viewed as entirely rational. This paper focuses on three phenomena, poetry, mystery initiations, and Plato’s philosophy, in order to demonstrate that in some spheres, mania and mnêmê intertwined. The poet’s memory is only partially his own: he recalls and commemorates in the grip of divine inspiration, when he is out of his mind. Creation of the eternal memory of the life-changing ecstatic experience was the aim of mystery rites, whereas the mnêmê of the ceremony was enhanced by means of mania. Finally, in Plato, the philosopher’s recollection of his soul’s true knowledge is pictured as a seizure of mania.  Magic memory and inspired knowledge are present in all these phenomena. The ancient mingling of thinking, alteration of consciousness and remembering, expressed by means of the words deriving from the Indo-European root men-, denoting ‘active mental force,’ did not disappear in Greece.

Ionosfer adalah lapisan udara yang merupakan bagian dari atmosfer atas bumi yang terletak pada ketinggian sekitar 60  km  –  600  km diatas permukaan bumi. Lapisan tersebut terdiri dari partikel-partikel bermuatan (ion dan elektron)  yang biasa  disebut plasma.Pada ketinggian tersebut sebagian dari molekul-molekul udara ada yang terionisasi. Ionisasi adalah peristiwa terletaknya elektron dari atom atau molekul netral, sehingga terbentuk partikel bermuatan positif  yang disebut ion  dan partikel bermuatan negatif  yang disebut dengan  elektron.  Total Electron Content (TEC) adalah  jumlah elektron 2 dalam kolom vertikal (silinder) berpenampang seluas 1 m    sepanjang lintasan sinyal    perangkat GPS yang dilalui di lapisan ionosfer pada ketinggian sekitar 350 km.  Pada hasil riset akan diketahui bahwa ionosfer hanya dapat memantulkan frekuensi tinggi.

Fosfat terdapat dalam air alam atau air limbah sebagai senyawa ortofosfat, polifosfat dan fosfat organik. Setiap senyawa tersebut terdapat dalam bentuk terlarut, tersuspensi atau terikat di dalam sel organisme dalam air. Dalam air limbah senyawa fosfat dapat berasal dari limbah penduduk, industri dan pertanian. Fosfat merupakan salah satu senyawa yang dibutuhkan oleh bakteri maupun tanaman, bila kadar fosfat sangat rendah (dibawah 0,01 ppm), maka pertumbuhan tanaman akan terganggu, bila kadar fosfat serta nutrient lainnya tinggi, maka pertumbuhan tanaman dan ganggang sulit dikendalikan, adapun nilai ambang batas (NAB) yang diizinkan adalah 0,2 ppm (PP. No 82 tahun 2001). Pengendalian dan pengawasan fosfat menjadi sangat penting, mengingat pentingnya fosfat bagi tanaman. Nitrate-contaminated groundwater from an aquifer in the Osona region (NE Spain) was chemically and isotopically (δ15NNO3,δ18ONO3,δ34SSO4,δ18OSO4δ15NNO3,δ18ONO3,δ34SSO4,δ18OSO4, δ  D, δ18OH2Oδ18OH2O and δ13CDICδ13CDIC) characterized. Diffuse- NO3- contamination reached values of 366 mg/L. Nearly 75% of the 37 sampled sites had higher concentrations than the 50 mg/L in NO3- limit for drinking water. To identify the source of pollution δ15NNO3δ15NNO3 and δ18ONO3δ18ONO3 were used with results, for most samples, in the range of pig manure NO3-. Nitrification processes were evaluated by means of the δ18O of NO3- and water. Isotopic data suggested that natural attenuation of NO3- was taking place. This process was confirmed using the δ18ONO3δ18ONO3 coupled with the NO3-/Cl- ratio, avoiding the influence of continuous NO3- inputs. A further insight on denitrification processes was obtained by analyzing the ions involved in denitrification reactions. Although the role of organic matter oxidation could neither be confirmed nor discarded, this approach showed a link between denitrification and pyrite oxidation. Therefore, in areas with no adequate infrastructure (e.g. multipiezometers), such as the one studied, this approach could be useful for implementing better water management.
