سکونت قوم یهود در فلات ایران قدمتی دیرینه دارد که سابقۀ آن به ایران باستان بازمی‌گردد. از آنجا که مردمان این قوم به فلات ایران کوچانده شدند در برخی از زمان‌ها اقلیتی در جامعه محسوب شده‌اند که پس از فرمان آزادی کورشِ بزرگ می‌توانستند به جای دیگر بروند اما به‌نظر می‌رسد یکی از انتخاب‌های اصلی آن‌ها زندگی در سرزمین ایران بوده است؛ لذا خواه‌ناخواه سبک زندگی، فرهنگ، هنر و آداب و رسوم آنان نیز تحت تأثیر سرزمین ایران قرار داشته است، همچنین تأثیرات متقابل بر سرزمین میزبان نیز داشته‌اند. آنان آداب و مناسک مذهبی خود را حفظ کرده و به زیستی مسالمت‌آمیز با مردمان ایران رسیدند. کلیمیان در شکل‌گیری شهری چون اصفهان سهیم بوده‌اند، شهری که بعدتر میزبان دیگر اقوام، همچون مسیحیان ارامنی یا گرجی بوده است. امروز می‌‌توان خصلت‌های مشترکی را در میان مردمان این شهر از مسلمان، مسیحی و کلیمی و... جستجو کرد.

در عالمی که فردوسی در شاهنامه تصویر کرده است، معماری (به معنای ساختن مکان زندگی انسان) جایگاه مهمی ‏دارد. در این عالم، معماری بر دو نوع است: معماریِ برآمده از هنر و معماری برآمده از جادویی. معنای هنر در ‏شاهنامه با معنای امروزی این واژه تفاوت دارد. هنر خاستگاهی ایزدی دارد و با نیکویی پیوسته است. در برابر آن، ‏جادویی است که بدهنری و بددانشی و اهریمنی است. معماریِ هنر صفت‌های بهشتی دارد: دل‌آرا و جاودانه است. ‏معماری جادویی صفت‌های دوزخی دارد و جای ماندن آدمیان و نیکوان نیست. معماریِ هنر بهترین شیوۀ شاهان ‏فرهمند است و با آن، فرّ و گوهر خود را نشان می‌دهند و آبادانی و نیکویی می‌گسترند. برخی از آنان، به پیغام ‏سروش ایزدی، شهرهای جاودانه می‌سازند که جای جاودانان نجات‌دهندۀ جهان است.‏
در گزارش شاهنامه از سرگذشت ایرانیان، معماری و هنر در گذر روزگار سیری فروکاهنده دارد. در آغاز این ‏روزگار، در زمان چهار پیامبرـ‌پادشاهِ نخستین، هنر متصل به وحی خداوند است و هنرآموزانْ هنر را از ایزد و ‏سروش فرامی‌گیرند و می‌گسترند و به دیگران می‌آموزند. اما با فروافتادن جمشید و فراز آمدن ضحاک، که هنر خوار شد جادویی ارجمند، رفته‌رفته از حضور و شمار و تأثیر فرهمندان می‌کاهد. فرهمندان همچنان در میان‌اند و ‏هنرهای جاودانه می‌کنند؛ اما پیوند با آسمان در آموختن هنر به قوت و کثرت پیشین نیست. حتی شاهان شهرها و ‏بناهای مقدس را نه به پیام ایزدی، بلکه با تکیه بر مهارت و دانش برترین هنرمندان و دانشمندان جهان می‌سازند.‏
معماری در شاهنامه از آسمان و آسمانیان تا زمین و قعر زمین و پیوستگان خاک را در بر می‌گیرد. معماری در ‏شاهنامه آشکار و نهان، دیدنی و نادیدنی، خوب و بد، مینوی و اهریمنی است. نیکوان و هنرمندان و فرهمندانْ ‏معماریِ جاوْدانه می‌کنند و بدان و ددمنشان و دیوانْ معماریِ جادُوانه.‏

ABSTRUCT: A kind of decorations used in the Ilkhanate period was stucco and plaster decorations instead of stucco and brick. This type of decoration was devised in the Seljuk period due to higher speed at the time of construction and reached its climax in the Ilkhanate period. Plaster stuccos are classified as cut plaster stucco and stamp plaster stucco. However, in most resources the term stamp plaster stucco is used for both stuccos. In books written about Soltaniyeh and its decorations the plaster stuccos are known as stamp plaster stucco which is wrong. All decorative Plaster stuccos brick ending in Soltaniyeh building are cut plaster stucco and there is no stamp plaster stucco in this building. This study addresses the right analysis of plaster stuccos in Soltaniyeh Dome, their method of implementation and its patterns and it is proved that Soltaniyeh Dome plaster stuccos are not stamp plaster stucco and they are cut plaster stuccoes.

‘Maidan’, as a public space, is an old concept in the Persian language and culture. The concept has changed along with its cultural context, connected with other concepts in a semantic network. This paper discusses one of its fundamental changes rooted in Qajar Iran, the crucial period at the beginning of modern Iran when cultural and social changes accelerated and a novel semantic network emerged. Using pictorial sources of Qajar cities and Qajar written sources, the authors clarify the meaning of ‘maidan’ in context; including the Constitutional Revolution and the ‘public sphere’.

در میان اندیشمندان معماری ایران، کسانی قایل به ذاتی ثابت و بی‌زمان‌اند و از این ذات با عنوان «معماری ایرانی» یا «معماری اسلامی ایران» یاد می‌کنند. از نظر ایشان، این ذات در مواضع گوناگون تاریخ جلوه‌های مختلفی یافته است و امروز نیز می‌توان آن را مطابق زمانه بازساخت؛ در این صورت، معماری‌ای باهویت و متفاوت با معماری بیگانه خواهیم داشت. آنچه این ذات را مشخص می‌کند قاعده‌هایی است که معمولاً آنها را «اصول معماری» می‌خوانند. این اصول بسته به دیدگاه هریک از این اندیشمندان متفاوت است؛ اما در هر صورت، اصولی بی‌زمان است که مراعات آنها معماری‌ای ایرانی و اسلامی و مطابق نیازها و خواسته‌های روحی و روانی و جسمی ایرانیان پدید می‌آورد. از بین این اندیشمندان، سه دیدگاه در قالب کتاب‌ها و مقاله‌های منسجم منتشر شده است: ۱. محمدکریم پیرنیا ــ «اصول معماری ایرانی»؛ ۲. نادر اردلان و لاله بختیار ــ حالِ وحدت؛ ۳. کامبیز نوایی و کامبیز حاجی‌قاسمی‌ ــ خشت و خیال. پیش از این، دیدگاه نخست از حیث ماهیت اصول معماری ایرانی وارسی شده است. در این مقاله، به بررسی و نقد دو دیدگاه دیگر، صرفاً از حیث قول به ذات معماری ایرانی/ اسلامی و اصول بی‌زمان آن می‌پردازیم.
راهبرد این تحقیق «تاریخ فکری» و «هرمنوتیک عینیت‌گرا»، و شیوۀ آن نقد درونی به منزلۀ شیوه‌ای در روش «تاریخ انتقادی» است. پرسش اصلی این تحقیق چیستی ذات معماری ایرانی در هریک از این دو متن و انسجام درونی مدعیات مربوط به ذات و اصول معماری ایرانی است. در بررسی هر یک از این دو دیدگاه، نخست هدف و مبانی نظری و سپس اصول معماری اسلامی ایران بیان می‌شود. آن‌گاه آن دیدگاه در قالب گزاره‌های هستی‌شناختی و معرفت‌شناختی و گزاره‌های عملی یا هنجاری تلخیص و تبیین می‌شود. بدین نحو، نقشۀ آن دیدگاه پیش چشم قرار می‌گیرد و نقد منصفانۀ آن از منظر پرداختن به ذات و اصول معماری اسلامی ممکن می‌شود. باب آخر هر فصل، با عنوان «دشواری‌ها و ناسازگاری‌ها» به نقد درونی هر دیدگاه اختصاص دارد. در پایان، با مقایسۀ دو دیدگاه، نشان داده می‌شود که هردو، به رغم ادعاهای متفاوت، کمابیش مبانی نظری یکسانی دارند؛ و تفاوت آنها در رویکرد است: رویکرد اولی رمزگرایی و رویکرد دومی تحلیل صوری آثار است.
Among the scholars of Iranian architecture, some believe in a timeless “essence” as “Iranian Architecture” or “Islamic Architecture of Iran”. According to them, the essence has had various manifestations in different points of history. It can also have its contemporary manifestation if we try to identify and realize it, as they believe. Then we will have our own Persian, Islamic, and non-Western architecture in our time. What defines the essence are some “principles of architecture”. The principles differ by the scholars’ viewpoints; however, all of them are timeless principles and rules that their observation can lead to an Iranian Islamic architecture suitable for Iranians spiritual, psychological, and physical needs and desires. Among the scholars, there are only three comprehensive viewpoints that are compiled and published: 1. Mohammad-Karim Pirnia’s “the Principles of Iranian Architecture”; 2. Ardalan and Bakhtiar’s the Sense of Unity; 3. Navaei and Haji-Qassemi’s Khisht-u Khiyāl. A full analysis and critique on the first viewpoint was already published. In this article, we will analyze and criticize the two latter, both of them believe in an essence as “Islamic Architecture of Iran”.
Reviewing and internal criticizing each viewpoint starts with explaining its goal and theoretical bases and continues by its principles. Then we will articulate the viewpoint in terms of ontological, epistemological, and practical/normative propositions. This will provide us a site map of each viewpoint that will make a fair critique possible. The last part of each chapter, entitled “Challenges and Inconsistencies”, will be on an internal criticism on the viewpoint. In the conclusion, we will compare the two views and show that both of them are deeply related to Traditionalism, and their main difference is due to their focus points: Ardalan and Bakhtiar focus on the symbolic language of architecture, while Navaei and Haji-Qassemi focus on the formal and physical aspects.

The sacredness of plants and plant elements in all nations has led to the implicit and explicit implications of these elements in the arts and architecture of various nations. In ancient Iran, the impacts of these plant elements and plant motifs can be seen in the architectural ornamentation, which is also prevalent in other nations. Problem statement and research aim: The current study seeks to find the implicit concepts of plant motifs used in the pre-Islamic Iranian architecture and to understand the impacts of pre-Islamic architecture on the architecture of Umayyad and Abbasid periods. In this regard, the symbolic and mythological concepts of plants such as lotus flowers, acanthus, and various trees such as palm and vine, which are commonly used in pre-Islamic Iranian architecture and Islamic architecture, have been deeply scrutinized.
Research Method : This research aims at interpreting the perpetual influence of these plants on the common beliefs and the architecture of the two aforementioned periods and it tries to seek the reasons for conveyance of these motifs from pre-Islamic architecture to Islamic era. Therefore, using the interdisciplinary study methodology, this study aims at comparing the motifs of prominent pre-Islamic buildings of the Achaemenid period (Persepolis) and the Sassanid period (Ctesiphon palace, Taq-e Bostan and Bishapur Palace) with those of Umayyad period (such as Qobbat Al-Sakherah mosque, Al-Hayr palace, Al-Mshatta palace, and Kherbat Al-Mafjar palace), and Abbasid period (including the Belkoura palace and Seymareh Mosque). H After interpreting the buildings historically by referring to various texts, the common implications of plant motifs were revealed and their manifestations in the architecture of both historical periods are deeply analyzed and discussed.

Conclusion: The results show that the existence of noble concepts such as purity, clarity and sacred force of life, knowledge and wisdom observed at plant motifs is the main reason for their use in architecture, which convey the same implications in the architecture of both periods. Moreover, it is deduced that the use of different motifs such as palmette (palm leaves), lotus leaves in Al-Hayr palace and Kherbat al-mafjar palace, the vine leaves and grape clusters in Qobbat Al-Sakhreh, as well as the triangular and circular forms in Al-Mshatta palace indicate the presence of Iranian art and architecture in the architecture of Umayyad and Abbasid periods. In addition, the geographical adjacency, believing in the same ideals, language, art and partnership in the creation and instructions of scientific schools are other reasons for the conveyance of motifs from Iranian architecture and culture to the Islamic architecture, especially Umayyad and Abbasid periods.

فلات ایران با شرایط آب‌وهوایی متنوع خود در جغرافیای وسیعش امکانات سازه‌ای معماری متفاوتی را برای تداوم حیات و یکپارچگی‌اش طلب می‌کرده است. غرب و شمال غربی فلات کوهستانی با دره‌های فراوان و نواحی مرکزی آن خشک‌تر است. بیشتر نقاط پرآب رودخانه‌های دائمی و فصلی داشته که عبور و مرور را برای ساکنان آن مناطق و رهگذران دشوار می‌کرده است. سیلاب‌های نیز بخش دیگری از مشکلات بوده است. به‌این ترتیب وجود پل‌ها از اساسی‌ترین راه حل‌ها معماری بوده که در ساختار فرهنگی تمدن ایران نیز جایگاه ویژه‌ای یافته‌اند.
پوپ معتقد است جغرافیای خشک و سخت و تنوع آب‌وهوایی حریفی سخت برای سرزمین ایران در شکل‌گیری امپراطوری یکپارچه و بزرگ بوده است و در صورتی که نظام ارتباطی کارآمد و مطمئنی در سراسر این سرزمین وجود نمی‌داشت ایران نیز نمی‌توانست عاملی مؤثر در تمدن جهان باشد و به‌صورت توده‌ای از جوامع جداگانه و درهم‌ریخته درمی‌آمد. به بیانی دیگر اگر امکان پل‌سازی نبود در واقع راه‌های عبور و تجارت و ارتباطات و شکل‌گیری امپراطوری نیز شکل نمی‌گرفت (پوپ، 1382: 236). بنابراین به‌صورت نمادین نیز با اتصال دو طرف رود و پیوند بخشی به بخش دیگر حائز وجوه فرهنگی نیز می‌شود.
پل به عنوان نماد ارتباط پس از سرپناه یکی از قدیمی‌ترین و پرکاربردترین سازه‌های مهندسی است و از آن جهت که معمولاً تمدن‌ها در جوار آب‌ها اعم از جاری و راکد شکل گرفته‌اند به آن شخصیتی فرهنگی نیز داده است؛ چراکه سبب ارتباط فرهنگ‌های ایجاد شده در کنار آنهاست. شاید پل یکی از اولین راه‌های رسیدن به آرزوهای دست‌نیافتنی بشر قبل از پرواز بوده است (افتخاری، 1400).
