Aim-To determine the gender using mental foramen as landmark on a panoramic radiographs in selected North Gujarat population. Objective-1. To evaluate and compare the superior border of mental foramen to lower border of mandible(S-L) and inferior border of mental foramen to lower border of mandible(I-L) value in males and females bilaterally. 2. To compare the S-L and I-L between right and left side in males and female 3. To utilize above measurements for gender determination. Materials and Method-Sixty panoramic radiographs were selected for the analysis of mental foramen. Tangents were drawn through the superior and inferior borders of the foramen (S-L and I-L respectively) and perpendicular from the tangents to the lower border of the mandible bilaterally. Digital verniar caliper was used for the distance measurement from S-L and I-L. The data obtained was tabulated and subjected to statistical analysis. Result-The analyzed data of study showed that the mean values of comparison of S-L as well as I-L in males and females were significantly higher in males as compared to females. The comparison of SL and IL on right and left side in the same patient was without any significant difference. Conclusion-The results of present study concluded a definite sexual dimorphism in the position of the mental foramen from the base of the mandible; this method can applied in mass disaster where the fragments of mandible are available.

Medical tourism is a growing phenomenon with policy implications for health systems, particularly of destination countries. Private actors and governments in Southeast Asia are promoting the medical tourist industry, but the potential impact on health systems, particularly in terms of equity in access and availability for local consumers, is unclear. This article presents a conceptual framework that outlines the policy implications of medical tourism's growth for health systems, drawing on the cases of Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia, three regional hubs for medical tourism, via an extensive review of academic and grey literature. Variables for further analysis of the potential impact of medical tourism on health systems are also identified. The framework can provide a basis for empirical, in country studies weighing the benefits and disadvantages of medical tourism for health systems. The policy implications described are of particular relevance for policymakers and industry practitioners in other Southeast Asian countries with similar health systems where governments have expressed interest in facilitating the growth of the medical tourist industry. This article calls for a universal definition of medical tourism and medical tourists to be enunciated, as well as concerted data collection efforts, to be undertaken prior to any meaningful empirical analysis of medical tourism's impact on health systems.

Medical tourism potential of CEE is currently not clearly identified due to the lack of data concerning the number of medical tourists in respective countries. The aim of the present study is to shed light on potential research topics in the field of medical tourism. A detailed analysis of scientific and consulting literature was used to identify the elements of medical tourism potential. The agglomerative clustering algorithm forms distinct groups of countries that are similar with regard to that potential. Creating the statistical synthetic measures allows one to construct the ranking of countries with respect to their potential regarding medical tourism. Several techniques, including orthodontic appliances, surgeries, advanced prosthodontic rehabilitation and alveolar bone grafts have been proposed for the oral rehabilitation of these patients. There are still some difficulties in prosthetic rehabilitation of cleft lip and palate patients with conventional prostheses or implant retained prostheses because of insufficient alveolar bone quality and quantity, inadequate soft tissue, and abutment teeth. This paper is an attempt to review the systematic approach in management of cleft lip and palate patients.

Özet

Amacı: Gaziantep ilinin medikal turizm faaliyetleri ile ilgili olarak durum tespiti yapmak ve potansiyelini değerlendirmektir.

Araştırma Yöntemi: Derleme niteliği taşıyan bu çalışmada daha çok Sağlık Bakanlığı ve Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu verilerinden faydalanılmıştır.08.01.2017 – 12.02.2017 tarihleri arasında yapılanliteratür taramasında Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam Üniversitesi’nin elektronik kütüphanesi, Sagem, Pubmed ve Google akademik kullanılmıştır.

Bulgular: Gaziantep, Türkiye genelinde uluslararası hastaların geldikleri ilk 15 il içinde yer almaktadır. En fazla hasta medikal turizm kapsamında gelmektedir. Toplam hekim ve hastane sayısında Türkiye'de ilk 10'da, yatak doluluk oranında ilk 3'te yer almaktadır. JCI tarafından akredite edilmiş sağlık kurumu bulunmamaktadır. Diğer turizm etkinlikleri (özellikle gastronomi ve kültür turizminde)  konusunda oldukça önemli değerlere sahip bir şehirdir. Potansiyel olarak düşündüğü ülkelerden sadece Irak ile ulaşım sıkıntısı bulunmaktadır.
Sonuç ve Öneriler: Çalışmada Gaziantep ilinin doktor ve hastane sayısı, diğer turizm faaliyetleri, maliyet ve ulaşım konusunda genel olarak iyi düzeyde olduğu; akreditasyon edilmiş kurum sayısı ve mevzuat konusunda ise yetersiz düzeyde olduğu gözlemlenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda konaklama işletmeleri, seyahat acentaları ve sağlık işletmeleri arasında iyi bir koordinasyon oluşturulması ve ülke içi ve dışında yapılan tanıtımların artırılması gerektiğine vurgu yapılmıştır. 

Araştırmanın Sınırları: Bu çalışmanın sadece Gaziantep’te yapılması, çevre illerinin kapsama alınmaması ve maliyet ile mevzuat gibi konularda il bazında verilere ulaşılamaması çalışmanın sınırlılığını oluşturmaktadır. Bu kapsamda sonraki çalışmalar için Güneydoğu Anadolu Bölgesi’ndeki diğer illerin kapsama alınması ve bölgesel olarak değerlendirilme yapılması önerilebilir. 

Orijinalliği / Değeri: Gaziantep ve çevre illerde daha önce medikal turizm konusu ile ilgili çok fazla çalışma yapılmamış olması nedeniyle bu çalışmanın alanda yapılan çalışmalara ve ilgili yöneticilere karar verme ve politika geliştirme konusunda katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir.

Abstract

Objective:Toevaluatepotential and to perform due diligence on the medical tourismactivities of theprovince of Gaziantep.

Methodology:Thedatafrom Ministry of Health and Turkish Statistical Institute were utilized in this study, which has a review type of research design. The electroniclibrary of KahramanmarasSutcuImamUniversity, Sagem, Pubmedand Google academics were used in the literature search performed between January 8, 2017 andFebruary 12, 2017.

Findings: Gaziantep is among the first 15 provinces in Turkey where international patients come. The most patients come within the scope of medical tourism. It ranks in the top 10 in terms of the total number of doctors and hospitals in Turkey, and in the top 3 in terms of the bed occupancy rate. There is no health institution accredited by JCI in Gaziantep. It is a city with considerable value in terms of other tourism activities (especially in gastronomy and cultural tourism). Among the potential countries, it only has transportation problem withIraq.

ConclusionandRecommendations:Inthestudy it was observed that the number of doctors and hospitals in Gaziantep is generally good in terms of other tourism activities, costs and transportation; however, it lacks in terms of the number of accredited institutions and legislation. As a result of the study, it was emphasized that it is needed to ensure a good coordination between tour operators, travel agencies and health care institutions as well as increasing thepromotions inside andoutsidethecountry.

Limitations of theStudy: Inclusion of only the Gaziantep, excluding other cities in the vicinity, and inability to reach provincial data on issues such as costs and legislation constitutes the limitation of the study. In this context, it may be recommended to include other provinces in the Southeastern Anatolia Region and make a regionalevaluation in furtherstudies.

Originality / Value: Since there were not adequate number of research about medical tourism in Gaziantep and surrounding provinces before, this study is believed to contribute to the studies in the field and to the related managers in decision making and policy development issues.

This essay will focus on the moral issues relating to surrogacy in the global context, and will critique the liberal arguments that have been offered in support of it. Liberal arguments hold sway concerning reproductive arrangements made between commissioning couples from wealthy nations and the surrogates from socioeconomically weak backgrounds that they hire to do their reproductive labor. My argument in this paper is motivated by a concern for controlling harms by putting the practice of globalized commercial surrogacy into the context of care ethics. As I will argue, the unstable situations into which children of global surrogacy arrangements are born is symbolic of the crisis of care that the practice raises. Using the Baby Manji case as my touch point, I will suggest that liberalism cannot address the harms experienced by Manji and children like her who are created through the global practice of assisted reproductive technology. I will argue that, if commissioning couples consider their proposed surrogacy contracts from a care ethics point of view, they will begin to think relationally about their actions, considering the practice from an ethical lens, not just an economic or contractual one.

Purpose: Medical tourism service requires involvement of multiple parties from the service network, however medical tourism is not well studied from a supply chain management perspective. This study suggests a conceptual model of medical tourism service supply chain (MTSSC) to provide a clearer understanding of its nature, and defines its business processes. Design/methodology/approach: Triangulation which makes use of literature review, in-depth interviews, and expert evaluations was applied to develop and validate the suggested model. The proposed model is initialized based on the relevant literature. In-depth interviews were used to refine and finalize the model. Expert evaluations ensure the trustworthiness of the model and the business process definitions. Findings: The proposed model uses a nested process structure rather than a one-dimensional supply chain model, where the assistance company maintains an intermediary role between the patient and all the service providers (e.g. medical institutions, transportation, accommodation). Additionally, the conceptual model identifies seven business processes: service design, service recovery management, customer relationship management, supplier relationship management, demand management, capacity and resource management, and service delivery management. Practical implications: The results provide a better understanding of the MTSSC structure and processes, and a recognition of the MTSSC members. The process definitions give the members an idea about their roles in the service design and delivery in practice. Additionally, a better understanding of the system as a whole leads to better process development and control. MTSSC members may shape their organizations internally and supply chain-wide by considering this conceptual model. Moreover, the model acts as a basis for supply chain collaboration decisions. Originality/value: The conceptual model is built upon the theories and practice of medical tourism services, supply chain management, and service operations management. This study contributes to the theory of medical tourism services management by explaining the MTSSC concepts and business processes, and extends existing knowledge.

With the ascend of scientific and technical progression by developing economies of the world, transcontinental healthcare services have become a reality. Medical tourism attempts to entice tourists by intentionally promoting its healthcare services and facilities, in addition to its regular tourist comforts. The aim of the present study is to develop a conceptual model of factors influencing medical tourism and inclusive growth in India based on the evidence from past. The study is approached from the theoretical perspective, comprehensively assesses and analyzes the previous literature to discuss the role of medical tourism as a boon for inclusive growth. The present study develops a conceptual model on factors influencing medical tourism and discusses how the antecedents of medical tourism including individual-related and provider-related creates the value for a destination. The dimensions of medical tourism are basic resources which are indispensable for attaining inclusive growth. An apparent limitation of the present study was the non-existence of the contributions based on the empirical data.

The study shows us as a summary that the private clinics and hospitals in Turkey have effective services practicing for international patients. It has not only included individual micro view but also wide-ranging and macro view about medical tourism area.

Özet Turizm, ülkelerin ekonomik gelişmesindeki önemli sektörlerden biridir. Özellikle bölgeler arası ekonomik dengesizliklerin giderilmesinde turizm önemli bir ekonomik faaliyet olarak göze çarpmaktadır. Doğal ve beşeri çekiciliklerin imkân verdiği ölçüde kırsal ya da şehirsel alanlarda turizm etkinlikleri sürdürülebilmektedir. Araştırma kapsamında Ege Bölgesi'nin İç Batı Anadolu Bölümünde yer alan Uşak İline bağlı bir kırsal yerleşme olan Kayaağıl Köyünde termal turizmin gelişimi incelenmiştir. Çalışmada Kayaağıl Köyünde sürdürülen turizmin beşeri ve doğal çevre özellikleri ile olan ilişkisi ele alınmıştır. Kırsal ekonominin devam ettirildiği araştırma sahasında turizmin etkileri her geçen gün artmaktadır. Gelen ziyaretçi ve konaklama yapan turist sayılarına bakıldığında termal tesislerin yakın çevresindeki en önemli tesislerden bir haline geldiği görülmektedir. Events are very important to the image and development of host communities. Therefore, an event that is well-planned and organized can contribute significantly to the development of host communities or nations at large. This study sought to examine the role played by the paragliding event in the development of Kwahu community. Data was obtained, through the administration of questionnaires, from residents of Kwahu and the organizers of the paragliding event.
Accidental and judgemental sampling techniques were used to select 150 residents and 20 members of the organizing team respectively for the survey. Data obtained was processed using the Statistical Product for Service Solutions (SPSS) version 16.
Findings from the study indicated that, the paragliding event had a positive impact on Kwahu’s development through increasing tourist visit to the area among others. Residents felt the flying charges were relatively expensive and hence mainly patronized the event as non-flying guest. Although residents were deterred from flying due to financial constraints and fear of height, residents largely endorse the continuity of the event in the Kwahu community.
Lack of local pilots and funding were however the topmost challenges affecting the event’s organization. It was therefore recommended for corporate sponsorship support and stakeholders collaborative efforts in training local pilots to help sustain this important event.
The study concludes that the paragliding event contributes to some extent towards the development of the Kwahu community.

This article examines the growth of Community-Based Tourism within the broader discipline of tourism. New topics in the field have emerged such as responsible tourism, pro-poor tourism, sports tourism and moral impacts of tourism. This phenomenon also reflects the multi-disciplinarity of tourism. In this article, using the Title, Abstract and Keywords (TAK) for instances in which the words (Community-based Tourism, Community Tourism and Community-Based Eco-Tourism) to subsume Community-Based Tourism (CBT), a search was made in various databases and found that CBT as a sub-specialty of tourism started to emerge in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The number of articles published specifically on CBT has been growing phenomenally. The major contribution of this article is that we now know the evolution of CBT and we also now know its trajectory of growth which has been upward. While the number of articles on CBT is growing, there is no journal dedicated solely to CBT.

Drivers of Healthcare Globalisation and Their Effects on Medical Tourism Globalisation has intensified in many parts of the world, becoming an important challenge for public health institutions and policymakers. Although many studies have been conducted on the role of globalization in healthcare, no consensus has been reached on its effects. In this commentary, we attempt to evaluate the drivers of healthcare globalization and their effect on medical tourism destination selection. The focus of the commentary is the effects of globalization on patients, whose primary purpose is to travel for planned treatment for health reasons. People from developed countries look for alternative healthcare services and travel to developing countries for cost-effective medical care. Factors which foster medical tourism include demographic changes, remodeling of the healthcare industry, modern technological changes and advanced medical practices, including cost and quality considerations. This commentary presents a list of key factors related to globalization and their effects on medical tourism.

Tourism has been recognized as one of the major contributors to the Malaysian economy. Among its sub-segment is the healthcare tourism, also known as medical tourism. Tourist's primary travel intentions basically to seek treatment while spending time recuperating at the host destination. Extensive document analysis and review of the current and prevailing data & literature has indicated that the total number of healthcare facilities are adequate to accommodate the increasing number of potential medical tourist, which are located in the tourism hotspot in Malaysia such as the Klang Valley, Pulau Pinang, Melaka and Johor Bahru. The number of healthcare facilities is supplemented with the fitting number of physician and healthcare professionals. Future outlook for Malaysia healthcare tourism are promising with increment in tourist arrival in this niche are expected in 2017 and beyond.
