This presentation explores all the experiments on the Moon since the Apollo missions, regarding the detection of water, hydroxyl, HO-, and other indicators, such as neutron abundances. It also cover many space missions and also correlates lab tests on moon samples with experimental observational data.

"Un piccolo passo per un uomo, un passo da gigante per l'umanità" È la frase pronunciata da Neil Armstrong, la notte tra il 20 e il 21 luglio 1969, scendendo la scaletta del LEM (il Lunar Excursion Module), in procinto di poggiare il piede per la prima volta sul suolo lunare: sono passati cinquant'anni da quando il primo essere umano ha messo piede sulla Luna. La grande sfida era iniziata solo sette anni prima, quando il presidente Kennedy pronunciò il celebre discorso in cui promise che gli americani sarebbero arrivati sulla Luna entro la fine del decennio. Fu il coronamento della gara intrapresa coi sovietici per la conquista dello Spazio, uno dei tanti risvolti della guerra fredda. Finita la quale, anche l'interesse per la Luna e per i viaggi spaziali iniziò a scemare, con la sospensione del programma Apollo e la cancellazione degli altri progetti in cantiere. Ma quella sfida astronautica non è stata del tutto inutile e vana, non è stato solo denaro sprecato. Le tecnologie spaziali sviluppate allora hanno avuto tante applicazioni in molti altri campi, nelle comunicazioni, in medicina, nell'informatica, nei trasporti: molti strumenti che utilizziamo oggi quotidianamente, come il telefonino o il computer su cui sto scrivendo, nascono anche da quella sfida spaziale di cinquant'anni fa. Quel "passo da gigante per l'umanità" sembrava davvero il preludio a una marcia inarrestabile verso il futuro, che avrebbe portato l'uomo a vette tecnologiche e scientifiche mai viste. Gli anni '60 e '70 del secolo scorso vissero con grande entusiasmo l'avventura spaziale e tecnologica, persino nella musica popolare fu un turbinìo di "rocket men", "meteormen", "galactica", "space oddity"... Ma era un periodo di speranze, di nuovi orizzonti, di promesse anche in altri campi della società: Woodstock, la rivoluzione hippy, il movimento femminista, come pure Martin Luther King, le contestazioni per il Vietnam, la "primavera di Praga"... In realtà, da allora l'umanità è andata avanti a passi di gambero, un po' avanti un po' indietro. Oggi mi pare che siamo nella fase indietreggiante, in un periodo di crisi e incertezze. Tra antivaccinisti, terrapiattisti, sovranisti, complottisti vari, si respira una profonda crisi di valori, di regresso, di rinuncia a diritti che sembravano ormai acquisiti, di diffidenza nei confronti della scienza e della cultura in generale. Dopo 50 anni si fanno risentire gli scettici, quelli convinti che la conquista della Luna sia stata tutta una messinscena, un colossale complotto che ha coinvolto migliaia di persone in tutto il mondo, per almeno un decennio. Semplicismo e superficialità caratterizzano quest'epoca, traboccante di slogan, tweet e post che creano una loro realtà parallela "à la carte", spingendo il popolo verso una beata ignoranza e dandoci così la sensazione di essere sprofondati in un nuovo Medioevo. On 9 October 2009, the Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS) sent a kinetic impactor to strike Cabeus crater, on a mission to search for water ice and other volatiles expected to be trapped in lunar polar soils. The Lyman Alpha Mapping Project (LAMP) ultraviolet spectrograph onboard the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) observed the plume generated by the LCROSS impact as far-ultraviolet emissions from the fluorescence of sunlight by molecular hydrogen and carbon monoxide, plus resonantly scattered sunlight from atomic mercury, with contributions from calcium and magnesium. The observed light curve is well simulated by the expansion of a vapor cloud at a temperature of ~1000 kelvin, containing ~570 kilograms (kg) of carbon monoxide, ~140 kg of molecular hydrogen, ~160 kg of calcium, ~120 kg of mercury, and ~40 kg of magnesium.

We used gravity mapping observations from NASA's Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory (GRAIL) to detect, characterize and validate the presence of large impact craters buried beneath the lunar maria. In this paper we focus on two prominent anomalies detected in the GRAIL data using the gravity gradiom-etry technique. Our detection strategy is applied to both free-air and Bouguer gravity field observations to identify gravitational signatures that are similar to those observed over buried craters. The presence of buried craters is further supported by individual analysis of regional free-air gravity anomalies, Bouguer gravity anomaly maps, and forward modeling. Our best candidate, for which we propose the informal name of Earhart Crater, is approximately 200 km in diameter and forms part of the northwestern rim of Lacus Somniorum, The other candidate, for which we propose the informal name of Ashoka Anomaly, is approximately 160 km in diameter and lies completely buried beneath Mare Tranquillitatis. Other large, still unrecognized, craters undoubtedly underlie other portions of the Moon's vast mare lavas.

Ice-covered ocean worlds possess diverse energy sources and associated mechanisms that are capable of driving significant seismic activity, but to date no measurements of their seismic activity have been obtained. Such investigations could reveal the transport properties and radial structures, with possibilities for locating and characterizing trapped liquids that may host life and yielding critical constraints on redox fluxes and thus on habitability. Modeling efforts have examined seismic sources from tectonic fracturing and impacts. Here, we describe other possible seismic sources, their associations with science questions constraining habitability, and the feasibility of implementing such investigations. We argue, by analogy with the Moon, that detectable seismic activity should occur frequently on tidally flexed ocean worlds. Qual è lo scopo di una macchina intelligente? Essendo un prodotto dell’uomo, probabilmente sarà lo stesso telos umano: la preservazione della specie. La macchina è la migliore amica dell’uomo, se è egli stesso ad essersi fedele:
«Ora, se si può descrivere una macchina particolare come un cervello, non dobbiamo fare altro che programmare il nostro calcolatore digitale perché la imiti ed esso pure sarà un cervello. Se si accetta che i cervelli reali, come li troviamo negli animali, ed in particolare negli uomini, sono una specie di macchina, seguirà che il nostro calcolatore digitale programmato in modo opportuno si comporterà come un cervello»1.
L’obiettivo dell’argomentazione sarà quello di riscontrare il fine ultimo dell’intelligenza artificiale a partire da due modelli fittizi di genesi narrativa fantascientifica. Tale riflessione nasce a posteriori della visione di un film e della lettura di un romanzo- di cui parlerò tra poco, in contatto tra loro attraverso il ruolo protettivo e difensore nei confronti dell’uomo da parte delle macchine.
Qui analizzerò un prodotto cinematografico di fantascienza, “Moon” di Duncan Jones, nelle sale nel 2009, e il romanzo di Douglas Adams “Guida galattica per autostoppisti” del 1979, nelle figure di intelligenza artificiale protagoniste. Nel primo sarà presa in esame Girty, computer co-protagonista insieme a Sam, che lo assiste completamente sulla base lunare. Nel secondo verrà indagata la figura di Marvin, l’Androide Paranoico, robot depresso che affianca il gruppo di umano-morfi fautori del viaggio nella galassia, narrato nel testo.

Przypomniano, że pierwsze komputery były wykorzystywane do celów wojskowych i tworzył tabele artyleryjskie. Potem zaczęto przy ich pomocy tworzyć różne inne tabele, a także stosować je w problemach związanych z biznesem, a zwłaszcza z bankowością. Open-ended government funded space exploration, by itself, is not sustainable for future long duration missions. Hence the role of commerce and international partners in human space activity. An effort to expand the International Space Station model to include more partners on a global scale is also proceeding in parallel. The goal to develop and field the next generation of human occupied space station, one that can safely keep her crew and reliably operate beyond the protective cocoon of the Earth's magnetic field is logically the next step along the critical path for evolving a Mars expedition vehicle, one that has to withstand the interplanetary environment, before crew can be delivered to the surface of Mars. While large, heavy lift launch vehicles and planetary landers are being developed, integrated and tested, are there ways to speed up human spaceflight activity ? What projects can we do with existing human spaceflight assets that are aligned with administration space policy directives ? The ADAM Project attempts to explore options available in the immediate term, to satisfy the national space policy goals set forth by the current administration, while encouraging new visions for human space activity, utilizing existing space technology to accelerate real space commerce for the immediate benefit of all society. The purpose of this study is to (1) demonstrate the viability of detecting terrestrial caves at thermal-infrared wavelengths, (2) improve our understanding of terrestrial cavethermal behavior, (3) identify times of day when cave openings have the maximum thermal contrast with the surrounding surface regolith, and (4) further our understanding of how to detect caves on Earth, the Moon and Mars. We monitored the thermal behavior of two caves in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile. Through this work, we identified times when temperature contrasts between entrance and surface were greatest, thus enabling us to suggest optimal overflight times. The largest thermal contrast for both caves occurred during mid-day. One cave demonstrated thermal behavior at the entrance suggestive of cold-trapping, while the second cave demonstrated temperature shifts suggestive of airflow. We also collected thermograms without knowing optimal detection times; these images suggest both caves may also be detectable during off-peak times. We suggest cavedetection using thermal remote sensing on Earth and other planetary objects will be limited by (1) capturing imagery in the appropriate thermal wavelength, (2) the size of cave entrance vs. the sensor's spatial resolution, (3) the viewing angle of the platform in relation to the slope trajectory of the cave entrance, (4) the strength of the thermal signal associated with the cave entrance, and (5) the time of day and season of thermal image capture. Through this and other studies, we will begin to identify the range of conditions under which caves are detectable in the thermal infrared and thus improve our detection capabilities of these features on Earth, the Moon and Mars.

The study is based on frame work of vision and the meta-analysis of history of intellectual Economics and inter planetary explorative space research. The study analyzes historical planetary space research evidences, insights and rationales on colonization of Mars, Moon and other planets and life possibilities and steps to achieve. It also analyzes the theory and New Economics that bridges economics opportunities and Inter planetary space colonization which is imperative for extraterrestrial life and prosperity. The study uses meta-analysis of inter planetary research which has done by NASA, Japan, UK, Germany, Russia, India, Netherlands and other countries. The study found that surface conditions and the presence of water on Mars make it the most hospitable of life. New studies suggest that Moon more hospitable to life. It was reported that some lichen and cyanobacteria survived. Mars's north and south poles are attracted great interest as settlement sites. The ultimate viability of all this really comes down to economics. In theory, the resources floating up in space be the economic fuel necessary to take us to the stars. The Law of abundance may bring down the price of such commodities (including energy). Mars–Earth trade may provide an economic rationale for continued settlement of the planet. When observing the first Moon crescent, it is necessary to gather information about the Moon: site in the sky where it is at sunset, luminosity, width, and orientation of its horns. We calculate the angles that the midpoint of the crescent forms with the vertical and the hour circle, data that allows us to know the orientation of the Moon's horns.

The concept of a space elevator dates back to Tsilokovsky, but they are not commonly considered in near-term plans for space exploration, perhaps because a terrestrial elevator would not be possible without considerable improvements in tether material. A Lunar Space Elevator (LSE), however, can be built with current technology using commercially available tether polymers. This paper considers missions leading to infrastructure capable of shortening the time, lowering the cost and enhancing the capabilities of robotic and human explorers. These missions use planetary scale tethers, strings many thousands of kilometers long stabilized either by rotation or by gravitational gradients. These systems promise major reduction in transport costs versus chemical rockets, in a rapid timeframe, for a modest investment. Science will thus benefit as well as commercial activities.

Culturas ancestrales sugieren periodicidad lunar sobre la materia en los cultivos vegetales lo cual durante años fue objeto de controversia en cuanto a sus efectos, sin embargo existe un apreciable número de publicaciones que sustentan la existencia de dicha influencia en algunas especies eucariotas y materia inanimada que en un futuro nos darán mayores respuestas útiles. Se evaluó la influencia de las fases lunares en variables que representen el crecimiento, desarrollo y germinación del Rábano (Raphanus sativus), controlando factores de confusión; no se utilizaron plantas testigo ya que no es posible aislar la fuerza de gravedad lunar. Los resultados muestran que no existe diferencia en el porcentaje de germinación por fase lunar. La variable biomasa subterránea con un valor P=0,015, sugiere mejor calidad en producción del Raphanus sativus si es sembrado en Luna Nueva. Existen factores de confusión por descubrir y queda aún en controversia junto al saber si la periodicidad lunar se expresa o refuerza en presencia de otras variables cósmicas.

Correct mathematical description of incoherent Earth revolving on the orbit around the Sun leads to unequivocal and logical mechanism of Moon’s origin. Before 4,6 Gyr fast rotation of Earth caused outburst of the first inner core of the Earth. With fast rotation of the Earth (Td=4h) the solid ferro-nickel sphere broke the thin mantle and was centrifuged to the orbit round the Earth. On the Earth’s orbit the gravity force of this ferro-nickel sphere was dominant over other fragments of Earth which didn’t fall back on its surface but remained on the orbit. These fragments of mantle and the outer core were pretty fast 'accumulated' on the orbit and created the natural satellite of the Earth. Presence of the Moon on the orbit slowed down the rotation of Earth above the limit value of 4 hours; that is why there was no other outburst of inner core.
Correct mathematical description of orbital motion of Earth-Moon system shows that the so called "tidal pumping of angular momentum" does not exist, as it is contradictory to the basic physical and mathematical laws.

and routines and to “lunar magic” – various folk practices and rituals (usually timed to a particular lunar phase), which are performed with an intention to take advantage of the Moon’s strength and power.

Il presente saggio è apparso originariamente, con il titolo «Sulla natura lunare di Shub-Niggurath: dalla mythopoeia di Howard Phillips Lovecraft a "The Moon-Lens" di Ramsey Campbell», sul numero monografico "Neo-Gothic. Hybridizations of the Imaginary" (vol. 35, 2018, pp. 48-68) – coordinato da Giovanni Magliocco – della rivista di letteratura universale e comparata "Caietele Echinox", diretta da Corin Braga ed edita a Cluj-Napoca (Romania) dal Centro di Ricerca sull’Immaginario "Phantasma" (ISSN 1582-960X). Viene riproposto in questa sede con alcuni tagli, con due doverosi approfondimenti alle note 28 e 102 (il primo storico-traduttivo, il secondo tematico-comparatistico) e con altre modifiche e integrazioni di lieve entità.
