Networked Control System (NCS)

This paper considers the problem of pursuit evasion games (PEGs), where the objective of a group of pursuers is to chase and capture a group of evaders in minimum time with the aid of a sensor network. The main challenge in developing a real-time control system using sensor networks is the inconsistency in sensor measurements due to packet loss, communication delay, and false detections. We address this challenge by developing a real-time hierarchical control system, named LochNess, which decouples the estimation of evader states from the control of pursuers via multiple layers of data fusion. The multiple layers of data fusion convert noisy, inconsistent, and bursty sensor measurements into a consistent set of fused measurements. Three novel algorithms are developed for LochNess: multisensor fusion, hierarchical multitarget tracking, and multiagent coordination algorithms. The multisensor fusion algorithm converts correlated sensor measurements into position estimates, the hierarchical multitarget tracking algorithm based on Markov chain Monte Carlo data association (MCMCDA) tracks an unknown number of targets, and the multiagent coordination algorithm coordinates pursuers to chase and capture evaders using robust minimum-time control. The control system LochNess is evaluated in simulation and successfully demonstrated using a large-scale outdoor sensor network deployment

This paper provides a survey on modeling and theories of networked control systems (NCS). In the first part, modeling of the different types of imperfections that affect NCS is discussed. These imperfections are quantization errors, packet dropouts, variable sampling/transmission intervals, variable transmission delays, and communication constraints. Then follows in the second part a presentation of several theories that have been applied for controlling networked systems. These theories include: input delay system approach, Markovian system approach, switched system approach, stochastic system approach, impulsive system approach, and predictive control approach. In the last part, some advanced issues in NCS including decentralized and distributed NCS, cloud control system, and co-design of NCS are reviewed.

The purpose of this study is to examine the factors that influence earnings management on non financial companies that listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange. These factors are firm size, audit quality, audit committee, institutional ownership, return on assets, leverage, and free cash flow. Population of this research are non financial companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2015-2017. The samples of this study are selected by using purposive sampling method and 558 data are taken. This research used a modified Jones model to calculate discretionary accruals values. This research used multiple regression analysis to determine the relationship between the factors and earnings management. The result of this study shows that return on assets, leverage, and free cash flow have effect on earnings management. On the other hand, firm size, audit quality, audit committee, institutional ownership do not have significant effect on earnings management. Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menguji faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi manajemen laba pada perusahaan non keuangan yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia. Faktor-faktor ini terdiri dari ukuran perusahaan, kualitas audit, komite audit, kepemilikan institusional, return on assets, leverage, dan free cash flow. Data populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah perusahaan non keuangan yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia selama tahun 2015-2017. Sampel penelitian ini dipilih dengan menggunakan metode purposive sampling dengan jumlah sampel penelitian sebanyak 558 data. Penelitian ini menggunakan model modified Jones untuk menghitung nilai diskresi akrual. Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis regresi berganda untuk menentukan hubungan antara faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi dengan manajemen laba. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa variabel return on assets, leverage, dan free cash flow memiliki pengaruh terhadap manajemen laba, sedangkan variabel ukuran perusahaan, kualitas audit, komite audit, kepemilikan institusional tidak memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap manajemen laba. This paper addresses the design of predictive networked controller with adaptation of a communication delay. Industrial Ethernet and wireless network become a common platform to implement industrial control in industries. Network control systems are subjected to delay time uncertainties due to the load traffic in the networks. As the PID controller is a major control algorithm in industries, this paper proposes a LMI based robust Hinfin PID controller using robust integral backstepping method to compensate the delay time uncertainties. To design using robust integral backstepping method, the plant and the PID controller are represented as a full state feedback control system in state space representation. The obtained parameters can then be used in the installed PID controller in the network based industrial control systems.

—A Receding Horizon Control (RHC) strategy for nonlinear Networked Control Systems (NCS) described by polynomial models subject to input, state and communication constraints is presented. By resorting to a set-theoretic framework, sequences of pre-computed inner approximations of the one-step controllable sets are on-line exploited to compute the commands to be applied to the plant in a receding horizon fashion. The key aim is to present Sum-of-Squares (SOS) conditions under which the one-step controllable sets for nonlinear polynomial systems subject to time-delay phenomena on the transmitted signals can be off-line computed. Specifically, the communication channel effects are taken into account by considering Independent-of-Delay and Delay Dependent stability concepts that are used to initialize the one-step controllable sequences. Feasibility, asymp-totic closed-loop stability and constraints fulfilment regardless of any bounded time delay occurrences are formally proved. Finally, experimental results on a laboratory two-tank test-bed show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
