Due to the effect of the current pandemic that the world is experiencing, the educational system swiftly remedied the problem of student learning. This study assessed the students' internet connection capability and the availability of learning devices at their homes. The researchers used a descriptive cross-sectional research design with the online survey as the primary tool for data gathering. Using a convenience sampling technique, this study garnered 2,894 responses from students at a local higher education institution in Central Luzon, Philippines. The study used a modified questionnaire and subjected the gathered data to simple statistical analysis. Based on the results of the survey, 70% of the students have internet access at home. On the other hand, smartphone tops the list of the learning devices that is available for learning for students. Learner's attitude towards modular distance learning catches uncertainties as a world crisis occurs up to this point. As self-learning modules (SLMs) become a supplemental means of learning in new normal education, this study investigated efficiency towards the learners' attitude and performance. Specifically, the study described the learners' profile and their attitude and performance towards SLMs. It also ascertained the relationship between the learner's profile with their attitude and performance, as well as the relationship between attitude and performance relevant to SLMs. A descriptive-correlational research design was employed in the study with 88 non-randomly chosen participants from secondary schools in West Philippines. The learners' GWA (general weighted average) was used to determine their performance and a survey questionnaire for their profile and attitude. Frequency counts, percentage, and Spearman's rank correlation coefficient were used to analyze the data gathered with the aid of Jamovi software. Results revealed a strong correlation between attitude and performance, but there was no link between learner's attitude and performance as to the learner's profile. It was affirmed that attitude is a compelling factor that is related with performance. Hence, this research has broader ramifications that can direct the Bureau of Learning Delivery to orient the module writers to further contextualize the learning materials that can compound learner's disposition and academic performance.

The New Normal policy has made a tremendous effort on the Philippine educational system since the inception of the COVID-19 Pandemics in early February 2020. The Department of Education has made a tremendous effort in organizing the system for such an unexpected event. Whereas, the whole institution planned on several readiness steps to bring the teachers and the staffs to a level where they would be the one to provide the learning modules for the students. Thus, the whole public school system has busied itself in module making and has been part of various and endless webinars from various institutions-both public and private. However, the problem and challenges encountered by our educational system has been so because the country is not yet ready to provide the technology that has been available beforehand to other countries especially in some ASEAN countries. Thus, the adaption and the implementation of such system may be said to be late. The effect of this late subscription of the Department of Education to various alternative means of education, rather than the traditional, has gotten our country's readiness to a starting point. That while other countries effectively supplanted these alternative forms of education to their learners, the Philippines has just started-and, to this means, what other country has been doing before is said to be the country's New Normal. The research established the current status of the ICT integration in the South East Asia and the world in general as compared to the Philippines as an overview of the country's ICT condition. The result shows that majority of the respondents believed that there is good adaption and implementation of the New Normal policy in the various areas.

This study entitled Development and Field Testing of Modules in Cookery 9 in the New Normal aimed to determine if the developed learners’ module would improve the performance task and its pre and posttests result during the School Year 2020-2021. The subject-respondents of the study were Grade 9 students of Floro T. Bongco National High School. One-group Pretest-Posttest only Design or Pre-Experimental Design was utilized in this study. The data were obtained using the validated researcher-made test and questionnaire. Descriptive mean, independent sample and dependent sample t-test were the statistical tools used for the data analysis. The research finding revealed that the test performance of the Grade 9 students in TLE Cookery 9 improved from average to high. It only implied that the developed module increased the level of test performance of the students. Thus, the hypothesis of no significance difference between the pretest and posttest of the one group test performance was rejected. This study suggested that since developed learners’ materials in Cookery 9 improved the test performance level of the learner, the teachers who are teaching Cookery 9 may use these materials in their lessons. These materials are recommended for further utilization to be used for remediation, enrichment, or intervention lessons. Teachers are expected therefore to maximize the use of these materials to make learners’ learning meaningful.

The outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic as a massive global concern has brought unprecedented challenges in different sectors of the world. One of it is education which posed as one of the most vulnerable sectors significantly impacted by it. This phenomenon changed the mode of instructional delivery and the viewpoint of education stakeholders on the kind of learning continuity applicable to the learners amidst the looming uncertainty brought about by the health crisis. Using phenomenology, this study explored the voices of public Science school teachers regarding their instructional dilemmas to adapt in the demands of the new normal teaching and learning. Findings uncovered seven emerging emotional themes capped as HOPEFUL: Hard-working and dedicated; Optimistic amidst uncertainty; Problematic yet reflective; Evenhandedness in responsibilities; Frightened but ready; Undisruptive desire to reach; and Lifelong learner. Despite the evident uncertainties of the situation, this paper describes the experiences of the Science teachers in their response to their mission of shaping today's generation towards undisruptive education.

This research aimed to determine the readiness, challenges and coping strategies of teachers in an academic institution towards education in New Normal. The researchers utilized qualitative research design, wherein, an open-ended interview were carried out with five (5) teachers. The researchers audio recorded, transcribed the interview and employed narrative analysis. The findings revealed that most of the teacher respondents were not ready in academic year 2020-2021 due to lack of preparation in the shift of education set up. Nonetheless, teachers adopted different modalities such as blended learning, modular and online learning. During the implementation of different modalities, teachers encountered challenges such as encountering technical issues, poor internet connectivity, lack of technology, poor students' participation and preparing instructional materials. Nonetheless, they were able to cope up with the posited challenges due to brainstorming with co-teachers, previous experience and positive thinking. Most of the teacher respondents evaluated the implementation of different modalities as not successful.

The emphasis of this study was drawn from the central question, "What are the practices of secondary public school teachers in preparing for classroom observation amidst the new normal of education?". Research Methodology: This study used a qualitative research design. It employed a phenomenology design to explore the practices of secondary public school teachers in preparing the new normal classroom observation. Results: Teachers believe that classroom observation is a measuring tool for achieving their professional goals or performance level. They also think that classroom observation can evaluate and assess the students' learning outcomes effectively and efficiently. Limitations: This study was limited to 22 secondary public school teachers in Cagayan, Philippines. Contribution: It can be helpful for teachers to improve their teaching techniques, strategies, methods, and instructional materials to be used amid this new normal of education.

Chapter 8: From Response to Reimagining– Creating Positive Sustainable Change for the Futures of Education The global COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted learning and knowledge sharing worldwide, affecting 1.57 billion learners in 191 countries. Today, we are at a crucial moment in history (UNESCO, 2020a). The global spread of COVID-19 has led to unprecedented disruptions in school systems around the world, which has created heightened interest among policy makers, educators, researchers, and the public in learning how education systems have responded to the pandemic and how students’ learning experiences have changed (OECD, 2020). Even before the pandemic, key initiatives were launched by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Culture Organization (UNESCO), which led us through the pandemic and its aftermath. One initiative to which I refer is the UNESCO Sustainability Targets (SDG), which is shown in Figure 1. The SDGs focus on spiritual needs, ecology, and people. In the educational context, the Sustainability Goal, number 4 (SDG 4) plays a crucial role (Education for All by 2030) (UNESCO, 2015).

The Department of Education has implemented the Learning Continuity Plan (LCP) in respsonse to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The authors conducted a qualitative study to understand and conceptualize the coping mechanism made by the public secondary principals in adapting to the new normal. Charles Darwins' Adaptation Theory provided the conceptual theory for this study. The research questions addressed views and experiences of public secondary school principals in the Municipality of Pikit on how they are adapting to the new normal. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to 8 public secondary school principals. Interview results produced major themes relating to secondary school principals' views on (a) how they respond in order to cope with the new normal education, and (b) how they adapt the new normal, and (c) experiences of the effects of COVID-19 pandemic. This qualitative research study illuminated the potential coping of the new normal among secondary school principals to reduce burnoutand maintain efficacy in a professional manner that will increase and further school success amidst Covid-19 pandemic.

The continuity of education must be seamless. Hence, adjustments in the basic education curriculum also calls for adjustments in the higher education curriculum to ensure the continuity of the learning process after transitioning from senior high school to tertiary education. Philippine Higher Educational Institutions is challenged everyday with the series of developments happening in the country. As such, adapting to these developments must be captured though curricular reforms in the PHEI curriculum. This short reflection deals with the adjustments made by the higher education in the Philippines in order to align themselves with the curricular reforms made in the basic education.
