We consider phase transitions in solids due to heat propagating through crystalline materials at low temperatures. These are considered in a steady state context where, at the transition temperature, the specific heat becomes singular and the heat conductivity has a maximum. Several consequences are found for the heat capacity having finite or infinite jump discontinuities.

Team teaching is not a new idea with a history spanning more than 40 years. It is an enduring idea yet its practice would not be the norm in most Australian school settings and across most content areas. This paper discusses the experiences of two educators who were given the opportunity to team teach in the area of mathematics education at a tertiary institution. It explores some of the challenges and joys of working in an educational environment which celebrates discourse, questioning and risk taking while modelling a collaborative approach for students.

This article investigates public architecture in Sápmi from the 1970s until today, with particular emphasis on building materials and their discourse. Although the materials chosen for clothing or for revealed construction follow Nordic and inter¬national architectonic trends, the wood, stone, concrete and glass are ascribed a set of meanings to fit the Sami context. The question is to what degree these materials mediate conventional and even stereotypical understandings of Saminess, or produce awareness of new Sami architecture and identity.

Despite the importance of adolescent leadership development, little research has examined how to improve such programs within a school context. The intention of this article is to explore how one Catholic secondary school developed leadership potential in young adolescents, and how such e!orts can be re"ned and improved in the future. The primary methods for collecting data included focus groups interviews, researcher "eld notes, and researcher re#ective journaling. Based upon these data, the author conceptualised the strengths and shortcomings of the program of leadership being pursued consciously or implicitly by the school, by examining the perspectives held by those students who had been elected to a position of leadership in Year Twelve. Speci"cally, the elected student leaders asserted strengths of the current program including: opportunities to participate in leadership activities, working with sta! and fellow student leaders, and learning important skills. Aim: Home programmes are used extensively for children with cerebral palsy. Even though there is consensus about the importance of home programme intervention, there is little evidence of efficacy and scant information regarding programme characteristics that might affect family participation. Instead, research to date has focussed on parental compliance with prescribed programmes and parent–child interactions. Methods: Based on reviewed literature, this article proposes a model to guide development of home programmes for children with cerebral palsy. It is a starting point for therapists to consider the way in which they focus and structure their home programmes for children who have cerebral palsy. Results and Conclusions: The paper identifies an urgent need to develop clinical guidelines for home programmes through rigorous formal processes and to evaluate the impact of occupational therapy home programmes.

This study explored children's activity spaces. In 2007, children aged 10-12 years (n=1480) completed a survey and mapping activity, and wore a pedometer for seven days. Their parents completed a survey (n=1314). Over half traveled <25% of their 'neighborhood', defined as 800 m and 1600 m network buffers. More local destinations (boys β=-0.022; girls β=-0.013) and parent report of living on a busy road (girls β=-0.43) were associated with smaller activity spaces whereas being independently mobile resulted in larger (girls β=0.28) ones. Traditionally defined neighborhoods may not reflect children's movements. Freedom, fewer local destinations and traffic safety may be important for increasing spatial ranges.

Non-H. pyloriHelicobacter species (NHPHS) are associated with several important human and animal diseases. In the past year research into this group of bacteria has continued to gain attention, and novel species have been described in new niches owing to improvements in detection methods. Polymerase chain reaction and/or sequencing remain the gold standard for the detection of this genus. New insights into the pathogenesis of the NHPHS in hepatobiliary, gastric, and intestinal diseases were gained. In particular, data revealed interaction between hepatic steatosis and infectious hepatitis in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma. Evidence of an association between hepatitis C virus and Helicobacter spp. in hepatocarcinoma development was also provided; and male sex hormone signaling appeared to influence infectious hepatitis induced by Helicobacter hepaticus. More findings support an association between Helicobacter heilmannii and gastric adenocarcinoma; and in mice, mucins MUC4 and MUC5 but not MUC1 influence the colonization and pathogenesis of Helicobacter felis. Data indicated that the roles of the adaptive immune system in H. hepaticus-induced intestinal tumorigenesis are different in the small and large intestines, and environmental factors, such as bile acids may modulate H. hepaticus carcinogenic potential. New reports in the prevention and eradication of NHPHS showed a protective response against Helicobacter suis induced by vaccine administration, and a successful cross-foster rederivation method successfully eradicated Helicobacter spp. from contaminated mice litters. Overall, the studies provided insights into the pathophysiology of Helicobacter species other than Helicobacter pylori.

This is an open source public document produced in connection with a UK urban regeneration CPO public inquiry. It should be read in association with other public inquiry documents including my proofs and those of Loretta Lees. In evidence, Professor Lees drew the Inspector’s attention to her current Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funded research project. Attention was also drawn to the ESRC website which was said to contain a copy of the relevant research bid document. In fact, the website contains only a summary (appendix 1) of the full bid document that was submitted in evidence on 31 January 2018. The website identifies Professor Lees as the Principal Investigator. At the outset, I would note that the general subject of Professor Lees’ ESRC research outlined in the bid is welcome and necessary. The wish to evaluate the impacts of estate regeneration policy is commendable. That said, this response statement is intended to help the Inspector and the Secretary of State (SoS) understand the relevance of the research bid in the light of this CPO Public Inquiry and the evidence of Professor Lees. This statement provides a response to the research brief as it was called in evidence, for the ESRC project above. The brief is, in effect, the research bid that secured the funding for the project. This response is in two parts: 1) a response to the full research bid and 2) a response to the Abstract that is published on the ESRC website. This website Abstract contains the reference to Mr Boris Johnson’s “Kosovo-style social cleansing” that was referred to in oral evidence by Professor Lees.

This report summarises Australian passive surveillance data for adverse events following immunisation (AEFI) reported to the Adverse Drug Reactions Advisory Committee for 2005, and describes reporting trends over the six year period 2000 to 2005. There were 839 AEFI records for vaccines received in 2005. This is an annual AEFI reporting rate of 4.1 per 100,000 population, the lowest since 2000 and a 22 per cent decrease compared with 2004 (1,081 records; 5.4 AEFI records per 100,000 population). The decrease was not consistent across age groups. Reporting of AEFI increased for children aged <1 year in 2005 (60.7 versus 50.3 per 100,000 population) and decreased for the 7 to <20 year age group (0.9 versus 8.9 per 100,000 population). Dose-based AEFI reporting rates in 2005 were 11.0 per 100,000 doses of scheduled vaccines for children aged <7 years and 2.0 per 100,000 doses of influenza vaccine for adults aged >18 years. The majority of records described non-serious event...
