The ancient city of Tabae (Kale-i Tavas) is located in the Tavas District of the Province of Denizli. Excavations of the city of Kale-i Tavas, which was an important settlement in the Beyliks and Ottoman Periods are being conducted by Prof. Dr. Bozkurt Ersoy (Ege University, Department of Art History) since 2007. During excavation works, marble and bronze statue parts were unearthed together with many ceramics and coins in the filling within a cistern from the Late Roman Period. The most striking piece among the statues is a substantially damaged bronze head. It probably is a portrait statue of one of the Roman Emperors. The most important piece of the marble works is the portrait work from the Early Empire Period which was carved for a boy’s head. The Tykhe head, Dionysos relief, and the head of a statuette of a woman can be listed among the other marble pieces. The finally mentioned head is the earliest sample among the discovered works. In addition to these works, many marble and bronze statue parts were discovered. These are relatively significant evidences that can provide information on the ancient city of Tabae, which is only known from antique texts and coins.

The study has focused on consolidation of a historical bath ruin in an archaeological site. Cevher Paşa Bath, which is located in Tabae archaeological site in Denizli, Turkey and dated to the 15th century, presents structural problems. The aim of the study is to propose a framework for planning consolidation of the ruins of Cevher Paşa Bath so that conservation work regarding similar masonry ruins in archaeological sites can be guided. Thus, methods of architectural restoration and civil engineering are combined in an interdisciplinary scope. Provision of temporary shoring as an emergency intervention, consolidation and presentation of the ruin within the scope of an inter-disciplinary restoration project, and monitoring of the asset within the frame of a monument management plan are suggested, respectively. Structural analysis considering stress and overturning moment checks are performed. Consolidation work includes only supporting of arch remains. Some walls of the ruin are weaker than other parts. These parts need further detailed analysis, and if necessary, further consolidation and strengthening are to be carried out. The monument management plan points out the necessity of collaboration of local and central administrations , and also non-governmental organisations.
