The aim of this study is to evaluate the empathy levels of university students in vocational school in terms of gender, department, class, number of siblings, working status, spending status, social media usage, sporting status and parents living together or separately. In this study, questionnaire technique was used as data collection tool. In the questionnaire, Toronto Empathy Scale developed by Spreng, Kinnon, Mar ve Levine (2009) and personal information form were used. Data were obtained from 621 university students studying at Manavgat Vocational School of Akdeniz University. In the analysis of the data, reliability analysis, factor analysis, ANOVA test and t test were used. The reliability value of the scale used in the study (Cronbach alpha = 0.66) was found to be sufficient. As a result of factor analysis, one dimension was obtained from Empathy Scale as in the original scale. As a result of t tests and ANOVA tests, among the demographic variables gender, class, sporting status and parental cohabitation were significantly related to empathy levels of the students. Besides, number of siblings, working status, social media usage and spending status were not significantly related to empathy levels of students. The fact that no such research has been found on the students of vocational high schools in the literature adds a unique value to this study. In this context, the study is aimed to contribute to the literature. However, the findings were discussed in the light of the current literature and some recommendations were made to school administrations.

Bu araştırmanın amacı; Karacabey Meslek Yüksekokulu‟nun Karacabey‟e yaptığı sosyo-kültürel ve ekonomik katkılara ilişkin öğrenci algılarını incelemek, öğrencilerin tanımlayıcı özellikleri açısından meslek
yüksekokulunun Karacabey‟e yaptığı sosyo-kültürel ve ekonomik katkılara ilişkin algılarında farklılaşma olup olmadığını incelemektir. Araştırma 2015-2016 eğitim öğretim yılında Karacabey Meslek Yüksekokulu‟nda eğitim gören 768 öğrenci üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada veriler 15-30 Mayıs 2015 tarihleri arasında
hazırlanan online anket formu ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesi bilgisayar ortamında SPSS 22.0 programı ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda; Karacabey Meslek Yüksekokulu‟nun Karacabey
ekonomisine sosyo-kültürel ve ekonomik açıdan orta düzeyde katkı sağladığı belirlenmiştir. Karacabey Meslek Yüksekokulu Karacabey‟e sosyal ve kültürel açıdan bir canlılık getirmiş, toplumsal ve kültürel değerlerin
gelişimine, modern yaşamının gelişmesine katkıda bulunmuştur, fakat meslek yüksekokulunun Karacabey‟e yaptığı sosyo-kültürel ve ekonomik katkı yeterli düzeyde değildir, bu açıdan öğrenci beklentilerini karşılayamamıştır. Diğer taraftan öğrencilerin yaşlarına, eğitim gördükleri bölümlere, kaldıkları yerlere, aylık gelir düzeylerine, barınma, gıda ve sosyal harcama tutarlarına göre farklılık gösterdiği, aylık olarak harcama

ABSTRACT
The aim of this research is to examine the perceptions of students about Karacabey Vocational School's sociocultural and economic contribution to Karacabey and in terms of descriptive characteristics of students to
examine whether there is a difference in their perception about Vocational School's socio-cultural and economic contribution to Karacabey. Research was carried out on the 2015-2016 academic year with 768 students from Karacabey Vocational School. Research data were collected through online questionnaires prepared between May 15-30, 2015. Evaluation of the data was performed with SPSS 22.0 computer program. At the result of the research, it has been determined that Karacabey Vocational School's socio-cultural and economic contribution to Karacabey is on medium level. Karacabey Vocational School has brought a vitality to Karacabey in social and cultural aspects, has contributed to the development of modern life and to the development of social and cultural values, but vocational school's socio-cultural and economic contribution to Karacabey is not sufficient, in this
regard it couldn‟t meet the expectations of students. On the other hand, students differ from each other by their ages, departments, the place where they live, monthly income, shelter, food and social spending amounts and it has been determined that when their monthly amount of expenditure increases the perception of the level of the vocational school's contribution to Karacabey in general increases as well.

Personality is considered one of the internal factors that have an impact on students' ability in language learning. The present study investigated the impact of personality types on their ability in writing English. There are two types of personalities studied: Extrovert and Introvert. The research is quasi-experiment. Students at grade XI Vocational School 1 Sungai Penuh engage in the study, whereas only two classes selected as samples (experimental class and control class). Students were given a personality questionnaire to recognize their personality types. Then, the writing test carries out in each class in order to know the student's ability in writing. The data are analyzed by using t-test. The finding of hypotheses testing proves that the p-score is 0,00. Thus, the p-score is lower than 0,05 (0,00<0,05) which means H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Hence, there is a significant impact on students' personalities to their writing ability. Students with introvert personalities have better writing scores than students with extrovert personality.

The main purpose of this study was to meet the need for the provision of information systems in vocational school models quickly and structured, to answer some problems that using the needs of information systems identified, and can be a guide in the development or improvement of strategic information system planning in other institutions. The case study of this study conducted in vocational school models in Palembang city, South Sumatra, Indonesia. Analysis tools used in this study are Political, Economic, Social and Technology (PEST), and Critical Success Factor (CSF). Framework models used is Ward and Peppard models, and using McFarlan Grid portfolio. Information systems that found in the vocational school models, seen from McFarlan Grid Portfolio are still a part of Key Operational and Support. Whereas part of the Strategic and High Potential is essential for the advancement of ICT today, the school should have followed the trend of technology to develop information systems in schools to be more effective. These findings have implications on school management information systems and ICT part of the school to develop information systems on the important activities in the school. Short-Term Usefulness, Behavioral Intention, and Use Behavioral Mobile Learning of Vocational Students in Makassar. This study aims to identify factors that affect the use of mobile learning vocational of students in Makassar. Type of quantitative research studies non-experimental kind of ex-post facto. These samples included 450 students of three SMK Negeri three in Makassar selected by stratified random sampling. The technique of collecting data using questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results showed that short-term usefulness contribute directly to the behavioral intention of 0.64 (64%) and contributed indirectly through behavioral intention to use mobile learning behavior of 0.42 (42%), while the behavioral intention to contribute directly to use mobile learning behavior of 0.66 (66%). Thus, short-term usefulness and behavioral intention to influence the level of use of mobile learning by vocational students either directly or indirectly. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui faktor yang memengaruhi penggunaan mobile learning siswa SMK di Kota Makassar. Jenis penelitian penelitian kuantitatif non-eksperimen jenis ex-post facto. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 450 siswa dari tiga SMK Negeri di Kota Makassar yang dipilih dengan teknik stratified random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner dan wawancara. Analisis data menggunakan Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa short-term usefulness berkontribusi secara langsung terhadap behavioral intention sebesar 0,64 (64%) dan berkontribusi secara tidak langsung melalui behavioral intention terhadap use behavior mobile learning sebesar 0,42 (42%), sedangkan behavioral intention berkontribusi secara langsung terhadap use behavior mobile learning sebesar 0,66 (66%). Dengan demikian, short-term usefulness dan behavioral intention memengaruhi tinggi rendahnya penggunaan mobile learning oleh siswa SMK baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung. Vocational schools provide the training of qualified people that needs of the labor market. They present not only theoretical knowledge but also provide practical training in order to improve students as qualified. Especially, labor safety experts who graduated of vocational high school play a greater role more than labor safety experts who graduated of 4-year from faculty in the prevention of occupational accidents and diseases. In addition, the compulsory internship in vocational schools helps to have knowledge about working life while students continue their education. On the other hand, since the internship is not compulsory education offered at the faculty, the students graduated from faculties remain passive in working life for a certain time. In addition to this, while vocational school students receive education only on their field for 2 years, it is very difficult to say that for the others. By this difference caused by the education content, the vocational schools have a significant contribution in terms of the occupational health and safety. The aim of this paper is to show the importance of vocational schools for the reduction of occupational accidents and diseases. The second contribution of this paper is to examine the importance of the internship in vocational schools offered compulsory. In order to accomplish these goals, a detailed literature survey is performed and acquired results are evaluated comprehensively.

The emotional intelligence and communication skills, which are required for realizing our own emotions and the others' whom we contact and for using it consciously, are the basis of this study. Within the context of the study; emotional intelligence level of the students, studying at Bartın University-Department of Public Relations and Publicity and assigned as sample group, was determined via Bar-On Emotional İntelligence Scale and communication skills, via Korkut Communication Skills Evaluation Scale, in second academic session. The same practice was performed on them in fourth academic session after giving a course on emotional intelligence and effective communication. With this application performed on that note, whether the efficacy of the emotional intelligence and communication skills of students had changed or not was put to paired student t-test analysis with the help of SPSS programme. As a result of analyzes, it was confirmed that the common emotional intelligence of the students had increased significantly but there hadn't been noticeable difference in communication skills.

PENDAHULUAN Pemberdayaan masyarakat, secara lugas dapat diartikan sebagai suatu proses yang, dan pengorganisasian masyarakat. Dari definisi tersebut terlihat ada 3 tujuan utama dalam pemberdayaan masyarakat, yaitu mengembangkan kemampuan masyarakat, mengubah perilaku membangun manusia atau masyarakat melalui pengembangan kemampuan masyarakat, perubahan perilaku masyarakat masyarakat, dan mengorganisir diri masyarakat.Kemampuan masyarakat yang dapat dikembangkan tentunya banyak sekali seperti kemampuan untuk berusaha, kemampuan untuk mencari informasi, kemampuan untuk mengelola kegiatan, kemampuan dalam pertanian dan masih banyak lagi sesuai dengan kebutuhan atau permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat. Perilaku masyarakat yang perlu diubah tentunya perilaku yang merugikan masyarakat atau yang menghambat peningkatan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Pengorganisasian masyarakat dapat dijelaskan sebagai suatu upaya masyarakat untuk saling mengatur dalam mengelola kegiatan atau program yang mereka kembangkan. Di sini masyarakat dapat membentuk panitia kerja, melakukan pembagian tugas, saling mengawasi, merencanakan kegiatan, dan lain-lain. Pemberdayaan masyarakat muncul karena adanya suatu kondisi sosial ekonomi masyarakat yang rendah mengakibatkan mereka tidak mampu dan tidak tahu. Ketidakmampuan dan ketidaktahuan masyarakat mengakibatkan produktivitas mereka rendah. Pemberdayaan masyarakat dilaksanakan melalui: (1) Pengembangan masyarakat, (2) Pengorganisasian masyarakat. Apa yang dikembangkan dari masyarakat, yaitu potensi atau kemampuannya, dan sikap hidupnya. Kemampuan masyarakat meliputi antara lain kemampuan untuk bertani, berternak, melakukan wirausaha, atau keterampilan membuat home industri dan masih banyak lagi kemampuan dan keterampilan masyarakat yang dapat dikembangkan. Dalam rangka mengembangkan kemampuan dan keterampilan masyarakat, dapat dilakukan dengan berbagai cara. Contoh dengan mengadakan pelatihan atau mengikutkan masyarakat pada pelatihan-pelatihan pengembangan kemampuan dan keterampilan yang dibutuhkan. Dapat juga dengan mengajak masyarakat mengunjungi kegiatan di tempat lain dengan maksud supaya masyarakat dapat melihat sekaligus belajar, kegiatan ini sering disebut dengan istilah studi banding. Pemberdayaan masyarakat diartikan sebagai tindakan pemberkuasaan rakyat agar mereka mampu secara mandiri " menguasai sumberdaya yang menjadi milik/haknya untuk digunakan mensejahterakan hidupnya. Intisari pemberdayaan masyarakat adalah menciptakan aturan main pembangunan desa yang mengutamakan, mengedepankan bahkan melindungi otonomi masyarakat dalam pengambilan keputusan terhadap aset-aset pembangunan desa. Praktek pemberdayaan masyarakat diarahkan untuk memberikan jaminan masyarakat desa mampu mengelola secara mandiri perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengawasan, dan evaluasi kegiatan pembangunan desa beserta pendayagunaan hasil-hasil pembangunan desa yang semuanya itu dilakukan secara mandiri. This study is aimed at finding out the effectiveness of pairwork activities technique on students' writing ability. The research is quasi-experiment with posttest only design. Students at grade XI Vocational School 1 Sungai Penuh engage in the study, whereas only two classes selected as sample (experimental class and control class). Writing test carries out after the treatment in each class, it means the instrument is constructed in writing form in order to know students ability in writing. The data are analyzed by using the t-test. The finding of hypotheses testing proves that the p-value is 0,00. Thus, the p-value is lower than 0,05 (0,00<0,05) which means H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Hence, the pairwork activities technique is effective to be used in creating student's better writing ability than conventional technique. Pairwork activities technique can enhance students activities in writing, where each pair of students should be active in generousing the ideas and cross-check their own writing with the intention to creating better writing outcome.

The world is currently in the industrial revolution 4.0 era, which is marked by new technological advances that are physically, digitally, and biologically integrated. According to several studies, technology is likely to replace the role of teachers assuming their function is limited to the transfer of knowledge to students or teaching in the classroom. In addition, the demands of industrial revolution 4.0 can affect teachers’ competencies, such as their set of knowledge, skills, and behaviours in carrying out their professional duties. These competencies are pedagogic, personal, professional, and social, therefore, teachers need to follow the development of education to improve the quality of learning. In the industrial revolution 4.0, teachers need to possess new literacy skills, namely digital, technological, human literacy, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity. Students of vocational and undergraduate programs at university can be found in negative attitudes and behaviors towards each other. Families and close environment of students studying vocational programs are also found in negative behavior. The main purpose of this study is, a) to investigate how the vocational student perceive people behavior in their school environment, family, and close environment and b) to determine the effect of the students' school motivation. The population of the study consists of Suleyman Demirel University, Isparta Vocational School students. To reach this purpose; first, the obtained data from literature have been used to provide a conceptual framework. The collection of data "Perceived Behavior and Motivation Survey" was used. Survey has been developed by the researchers from interviews with students and teaching staff. The obtained data have been analysed via SPSS. Structural and convergent validity of the data have revealed with the explanatory factor analysis. Then, confirmatory factor analyses were used to test the effects of independents variables on dependent variable. It was tested using a correlation analysis to determine the relationship among factor groups and a regression analysis to determine the effects of independents variables on school motivation factor. National Curriculum requires Indonesian EFL school teachers to integrate formative assessments in their classroom practices. Many teachers have been reported to have problems performing this task (Kompas.com, 2014). This can be due to their lack of understanding of the concept of formative assessment that may affect the quality of their assessment practices in the classroom and, eventually, their students’ learning. This study aimed at obtaining better insights into EFL teachers’ conceptual understanding of formative assessment in EFL teaching. For this purpose, fifty Vocational Secondary School EFL teachers from East Jakarta area were involved as survey respondents to seek answers to the following research questions: 1) How do Vocational Secondary School EFL teachers understand the concept of formative assessment in English Language Learning? 2) How do the teachers practice formative assessment in their classrooms? and 3) What is the influence of teachers’ perceptions on their classroom practices? Results show that teachers tend to perceive formative assessment as summative. In hopes of literature and policy of assessment standard, it was revealed that formative assessment was not entirely understood and used in the VSS practices. The schools support and government attention on VSS EFL teachers were the most influenced factors in their classroom practices.

This study aims to enhance the comprehension of vocational education students regarding heat transfer through conduction and radiation of light bulb using a conventional teaching supported by an experimental demonstration. The study was undertaken through several steps: (i) assessing students’ knowledge (by a pretest), (ii) delivering a teaching about heat transfer using a conventional teaching method, and (iii) experimental demonstration supported by a recorded video with explanatory materials. Each step was carefully evaluated by direct observation and evaluation (by assessing test). The evaluation was done by a pretest-posttest technique, supported by questionnaire survey and interviews for the qualitative analysis. Στην παρούσα εισήγηση διερευνώνται οι αντιλήψεις μαθητών της Α’ τάξης του 1ου ΕΠΑ.Λ. Αγ. Παρασκευής  για το αρχαιοελληνικό ιδεώδες του «καλού καγαθού» ανδρός, που αποτελούσε τη βάση της αγωγής των νέων από τα αρχαϊκά χρόνια.
Οι μαθητές μας, αφού μελέτησαν εικαστικά έργα τέχνης (ποιήματα χειρών), όπου απεικονίζονται αγώνες (αθλητικοί, καλλιτεχνικοί) και συμπλήρωσαν μεικτό ερωτηματολόγιο ανοιχτών και κλειστών ερωτήσεων,  προσπάθησαν να κατανοήσουν τον χαρακτήρα της αρχαιοελληνικής παιδείας που στόχευε στη διπλή κι ομόρροπη αγωγή: στη γύμναση του σώματος, αφενός, για να επιτευχθεί η ακρότατη ανάπτυξη και αρμονία, και στην ψυχική ανάπτυξη, αφετέρου, ώστε «παιδεύεσθαι προς την πολιτεία», για να διαπλαστεί δηλαδή ένας ελεύθερος και άξιος πολίτης που θα  υπακούει στους Θεούς, θα αγαπά την πατρίδα, θα σέβεται τους νόμους και θα διακατέχεται από υψηλό αίσθημα τιμής και καθήκοντος.
Στο τέλος,  οι μαθητές μας  έκαναν σημαντικές παρατηρήσεις για τις  αποκλίσεις του αθλητικού πνεύματος στις μέρες μας.

The purpose of this study is to compare vocational school students’ success at basic
mathematics subjects with regard to their entrance to the university. The data were
obtained by administering a “Personnel Information Form” and “the Mathematics
Test” prepared by the researcher to 617 vocational school students and 26 two-year
degree programs at the Open University in Turkey. After analyzing the data, a considerable
statistical difference in basic mathematical knowledge and skills among
students was found based on students’ entrance ranks to the programs. The results
of the research indicated that there is a significant difference in success on mathematics
courses taken at high schools and universities. On the other hand, there was
no significant difference between men and women on mathematics tests.

Globalization process that is experienced worldwide has influenced tourism industry and changed the structure of this industry, just as it has influenced many industries. In line with this situation, the necessity of moving to alternative tourism types has emerged considering the changing consumer demands. Therefore, it is essential to build the education outputs in the field of tourism and hotel management directed specifically for faith tourism, which has a significant place among the types of alternative tourism. According to the data of World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), tourism sector created labour for 7.2 millions of people worldwide in 2015, both directly and indirectly. On the other hand, the number of employees in tourism and travel sector is estimated to have reached 370 million by 2026, with 1 out of every 9 employees from the sector. That is why, Tourism and Hotel Management programmes are among the most preferred programmes in the vocational schools of universities. The reality lying beneath this is the belief that the graduates can be much more easily employed when compared to other professions. However, considering the changes in tourism around the world, it will be useful to revise the education curriculum applied in the sector in accordance with the current needs so that  Turkey can benefit from the present potential . Setting off with this awareness, Tourism and Hotel Management programme in Efes Vocational School, which forms its vision and mission with the focus on faith tourism, constitutes an example model for the specialization in this field. Efes Vocational School was founded in Selçuk district of İzmir city, which is in the World Heritage list of UNESCO with its cultural assets. Although Tourism and Hotel Management programme in Efes Vocational School has the same name with  other tourism and hotel management programmes, its academic curriculum was formed by taking into consideration the advantageous and appraisable potential of the region. In this regard, the main aim of this study was to emphasize the formation of the curriculum in the vocational schools that offer tourism education and training in order to be specialized by putting forth the tourism potential of the region, on the condition that these regions where the vocational schools are established have the potential of faith tourism. This study is a descriptive study in terms of evaluating the course contents of tourism and hotel management programmes within the framework of faith tourism and revealing the current situation. In this respect, the present situation of the education offered in tourism and hotel management programmes in the regions with faith tourism was analyzed and it was resulted that the education given in terms of faith tourism was insufficient. On the other hand, taking into account the fact that faith tourism potential that Turkey owns due to its geographical location is not being used adequately, suggestions have been developed in the conclusion section of the study.

Vocational schools which were opened to raise intermediate staff for the sector must update their functions to fulfill the intermediate staff need emerging as a result of the developments and changes in the sector through the time. Considering the needs of the sector, updating content of the courses and opening new lessons or programs will fulfill the need. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the flight simulators lesson aiming to fulfil the intermediate staff need in the field of flight simulators according to educational criticism model. Qualitative techniques were employed to obtain data within the scope of this study. The study was designed according to case study method. In-depth and focus group interviews were conducted with the participants by using semi-structured interview forms and the findings were obtained through content analysis. The study group consisted of students, instructors and the head of the program. As a result of the study, it is found that participants were satisfied with the course, the staff need of the sector was fulfilled, the learners had sector knowledge, and the aim of the teaching process included practice opportunity in the sector. Besides, highlighting the cooperation between the sector and the university and keeping educational programs up-to-date was another expectation.

Vocational High School students enter schools either with GPA or with Secondary School Entrance Exam (SSEE). In this research, the difference between the percentages of standard scores of 6190 students at four kinds of Anatolian Vocational High Schools in SSEE and UEE-1 exams, and their regression analyses have been studied.
Moreover, one-way Anova test has been carried out to test the significance of difference. The school type with the lowest UEE-1 standard score percentage compared with the percentage of SSEE standard score was Anatolian vocational high schools. In all school types SSEE explained less than 30% of UEE-1 scores, the highest
being 0,298 for Anatolian girls vocational high schools. Girls had better percentages of standard scores in three school types.
